Will update again when it is near to 10k player

    Current - 9194 in wilderness(1st sub)
  • Second sub filled, and there's a fresh one now with 744 players currently. However, the top 6 spots are already taken, and the other 4 will likely be taken by those already in those places (or others that joined right when they did). So if you haven't joined by this point and still want to try for top ten, you'll need to wait for another bracket to open.

I'll try and post when the bracket fills, if I'm around. If anyone is in the current third sub for vets, let us know when it fills if you can.

I took 8th. Lukewin seems to be trying for 9th but 10th seems to be struggling a bit. Canatian is getting passed and it looks like top 10 will be locked up in another 20 minutes.

Only nodes I had really tough time were 2 last ones (41 & 42). Loki on 41 is just so annoying when you can't burst him down quickly and on 42 you can't use wolvie and match damage alone is a killer. So I just decided to tinykitty it and go full on deadpool on those nodes. I think they are definitely doable without whales but I had no patience for that.

So my new best friends are StormNeto and Hulk. Hulk tanks and generates green, which Storm uses to generate...everything. Once you have enough of her green, you can shake the board until you get enough blue and purple to put everybody under. That team got me from 36-41 and with 4 health packs. I just dropped whales on 42. Now letting me health packs regen so I can take on the essentials. Squirrel Girl and Luke Cage are BRUTAL by the way. Cage's red means you have to focus on him and you get NO match damage until he's gone. Squirrel Girl you just have to hope she doesn't drop her purple, because it's a 1-hit KO with anything on the board.

    I'd do this if I could - but Hulk is practically a liability with 4*Thors everywhere. It's definitely a fine strategy(Get at least 30 green for Storm's greenflag.png ).

It looks like I might be living vicariously through some of you guys with these later nodes, I barely limped out of Torch/Groot/Ms. Marvel in the 2nd gauntlet on my 3rd try, and that was only due to Raging Tempest and Speed Shot...yikes...

That's exactly the node I'm stuck on. I just started this game less than 2 months ago so of course I'm gonna have an immature roster, and I decided to keep as many 3* as I get so I'll always have the essential required for Story. So far it's been a strategy that's worked out pretty well cause I've been able to place top 5 in 3 out of the last 4 Story events (with a brutal schedule of waking up every 2-3 hours to play). I slipped to 9th in the Star Lord event cause I took an entire day and a half off to enjoy the Super Bowl, which was worth it cause that game was tinykitty great.

This Gauntlet format is so different from the standard Story event structure though, basically designed to simulate Versus, that my decision to keep a wide variety of low covered 3* over stronger 2* has come back to bite me in the ****.

So basically I have a bunch of 1/0/0 - 2/0/0 - 2/2/2 at best lvl 40-70 characters. For "scaling" the Gauntlet all they do is try to match levels, but they didn't do anything to adjust power rank. So even though a level 69 Rocket & Groot, Torch, Ms. Marvel team are about the same level as my characters, 5/5/3 or 5/4/4 makes them take watery dumps all over my level 70ish 2/2/1 characters, even my 160 boosted Daredevil is zero help. Rocket & Groot just went from 700 hp to over 4K (full health) off a single yellow match thanks to having 4-5 points into his passive. Unibeam team-ups all day long. It's comical.

Fully covered characters, even if they're 2*, are better bets than undercovered 3* characters, even when powered up.

Also, since you're new I don't expect you to complete the gauntlet - its a tough event that requires a wide variety of characters. Not saying you can't, but it's tough for everyone but especially newer players.

Any updates on the third sub?
  • This gauntlet, while I never had any hopes of T10 placements, was pretty much cruise control. There were only a couple nodes that I retreated, and one that wiped me twice (sim 35), but that was in my first run through. It was too late to be playing and my teams were too beat up to be trying it. When I came back fresh in the morning, I gritted my teeth, kicked its butt and said, 'what was so hard about that'? It felt good to just be able to make it to Sim35 in one sitting. It shows how far my roster has come. 2 gauntlets ago I couldn't complete it. The last one I managed with determined effort. This one... pretty easy with having choices and proper counter measures. At the end point I finished the 3rd sub I pulled into the #23 slot in the bracket for Puerto Rico, Beee and TheDirewolf. Considering I slept a full night and spent 4 hours working on a customer estimate, it shows the difficulty for the general player base. Even more interesting is how far I have to go... cause the T10 spots in that third bracket were all claimed by the moment I finished the first node in that third sub.

I had enough for 4 whales if I needed them, but I used 2, and not really out of desperation... It just got to a point where I looked at it and said, I haven't had much problem yet, and this one will go so much faster if I just whales it... Specifically Essential15 and sim 37. Common denominator being Devil Dino... I just didn't want to sit through 5 billion animations of his tiny arms waving around.

The majority of the gauntlet was carried by Patch (4/5/4, 166), Ldaken (4/3/2, 114) and Loki (5/4/4, 95). There weren't any matches they couldn't handle if the combo wasn't locked out by AI versions. They handled it so well that I'll be going back as time allows to farm some goodies out of the nodes. Annoyingly, Sim12 gave me 20 iso 8 times before I got more than the 1/4 goodies in it. Utterly annoying.

Stormneto, Mag.stique, Cap.40 and hulkbomb easily mopped up on anything else. (God I love hulkbomb. Thanks again Orbitilant) Finally getting a 3rd Mystique purple has made that combo with mn.mags even nicer. At the point where you have 30 purple, and enough red for Magnetic flux, using her purple for the 1 turn stun to set it off without risk is pretty nice. I can't count the number of times before that where I had the red but didn't dare use it. When the state of the board is mainly 4 colors, it doesn't take much for the AI to get a cascade of doom that downs someone. I used the combo on all the hood essentials too, since hoods black will do the same, plus the bonus of getting to drop the last character with a pretty big chuck of life left with Twin Pistols.

I brought an X-force green and black teamup into a match with hulk, who was saved for last. After dropping both of those on him, I understand more on why my hulk is more lunch than scarecrow in the pvp arenas now. Holy moly...

Lol, glad to be of some help. My XF has finally become playable in PVE (3/5/3), so I don't Hulkbomb as often but I still dust them off from time to time when I need a quick set of wins before I shield or something in PVP. An XF SS nullifies Anger because there are no greens left to cascade, so I can't use it very often or for very long if I'm above 550 in PVP. Though, still has a place in my heart. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I'm having a real tough time with Alpine Tactics Simulation 25 (Loki 145/Gamora 146/She-Hulk 145)

I've got a fully covered and leveled 2* roster (everyone except Bagman), and powered up I have Daredevil 3/2/2 and Hood 1/3/2.
The rest of my 3* roster is undercovered, only ones worth noting: Storm (Mohawk) 2/3/2, Falcon 0/1/5, Magneto (Classic) 3/1/2, Sentry 5/2/3

Don't mind using boosts. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance.
  • Events like this should be done more like the lightning rounds. Start a new bracket every 2 hours (or 8 hours, or whatever), and then tell people the start times, or let people pick their start time. That way everyone has a shot at getting top 10, not just the first 10 people that happened to be awake when the event started.
  • I just joined and the current bracket is at 688 with the top10 already claimed. Likely to be a long time before this one fills.

First off they shouldn't have messed with the Gauntlet. However, if you are going to do a time thing, then you need to do it right.

1.) It should be total time to clear all the nodes, not first to finish, so add a timer and it's fair.

2.) If you use boosts other than TU's, you automatically take yourself out of top 10 placement

Do these 2 things and you have something.

Or you could add 30 or 45 seconds for each boost slot used.

I have the same kind of roster as you, and am currently one node away from finishing the whole gauntlet. The answer to the question is pretty much always Storm/Magneto. Use blue/purple boosts. Use all color AP and damage boosts if that alone isn't getting it done. I like Thor for a third team member to tank damage and use his yellow when convenient.
  • Finally beat #42 but can't put a dent in essential 16. Luke Cage's shield is a b****

    To add to the above,

While Thor is my usual third pairing for the same reason - board shake up while fueling storms green for AP and more shake up, I think DD is a better partner in this gauntlet. He tanks blue and purple for the team and becomes an awesome meat shield while you build up the AP.
