  • It was challenging, but I had fun and completing it made me feel like I accomplished something this weekend. I *barely* squeaked out of Sim42 with Lthor/MMags/CStorm (+3AP, +125% crit, Whales TU) with Lthor down to 151 life and the rest of the roster downed.

It would be cool if we could replay some of the early nodes without the 20 iso sad trombone reward, but overall I enjoyed it. I'll be happy to have it in the regular rotation for sure.
  • For Sim42, I feel that you can't have Sentry or Wolverine fire any move, or you just lost

I guess I'll keep trying, waiting for some major cascade to happen during the initial turns.

While alot of players are complaining how difficult the scaling is, especially if you have a good roster. I say this is not a bad thing, after all newer players with a weak roster should be able to complete this event with ease,
    NOPE.

I got halfway through the "heroes" part before the event became impossible for me. The "scaling" is apparently just personal, because I'm fighting like level 40-60 guys - but I cannot win against level 50+ enemies. So no, newbies are probably going to do even worse because we don't have the roster flexibility to take on different types of teams. Basically, if I can't win with my tired old A team, that's it - I can't do it, because I don't really have a B team.
  • Finally beat sim 42 with Punisher/Steve/Hood on my second attempt. I was very lucky that the board was full of red and blue, allowing me to ramp up the shield tossing pain train pretty quickly. No boosts, no teamups used, and they didn't get to fire a single ability (okay, they used a MNMags red teamup, which I promptly overwrote with my own red countdown tile icon_e_wink.gif ).

Yeah, if you're so early in the game that you don't have a good array of 2* characters yet, the Gauntlet is throwing more at you than your roster can handle. And if you've built up a bunch of 3* and 4* characters then the level scaling spikes so much that it looks like the Shredder. It seems like the sweet spot is to have a lot of fully covered and leveled 2* characters but no 3* fighters who have reached triple digits yet.

    I loved this event.

    (Still transitioning to 3*)

I too wish it was easier, but then again, beating all three events felt so good precisely because of the difficulty.

    Just a few points:
    - The BP requirement for the BP cover was really poor design. They should have allowed players to hop back and forth and win all three covers if they win.
    - I don't like boosts at all. They are pretty much required to win some of these nodes. Disabling boosts and toning the difficulty down to compensate would be better and fairer. I won't miss boosts if/when they (eventually? hopefully) remove them from the game.
    - The difficulty is a bit too high, IMO. Hopefully they'll tune it better next time. For a first-time event in this format, I'd call it a success!

Just finished the last node on this event this morning. Like many, I enjoyed the structure and hope this is a model for future events with better rewards. I wouldn't mind the scaling being toned down a bit, too many of these towards the end were too dependent on the AI never getting a power off.

I was able to beat every node w/o boosts and my scaling on the last node (obw/xforce/sentry) was level 395 for all of them. I did have to take advantage of the retribution bug on the deadpool/obw/ares node. Otherwise 3* Captain America carried me through most of this event. If you can get his red & blue rolling, you are set, especially if you have hood along and can not only slow down the enemies AP collection, but accelerate your cd tiles. You just nee a meat shield to soak up damage until you get your Cap'n Murica in control of the board. (fyi, his blue protect tiles own world rupture, and if you do it right, you can overwrite his sacrifice strike tile too).
  • I wish I knew how to quit you....

...but I keep bashing my head against this wall.

What I'm wondering is: are there even any players out there who can complete this, but who still need a Psylocke cover? Because all I can see are whales. Okay, I haven't checked the winners yet, but this is impossible, and I don't see how one Psylocke is adequate compensation for this level of challenge. I'm feeling like Blue BP should have been the reward for Villains, Black Psylocke for Heroes, and I guess Yellow IW for the Finale? I mean, there should be something significant, but not a prize that will help anybody more powerful than me, if you know what I'm saying. None of this Nick Fury/X-Force **** because I really hate dealing with those guys now.

I completed it and I needed all three of the 3* offered. My Psylocke, GSBW, and BP (Punisher too for that matter) are all woefully undercovered. I do have a pretty good Steve Rogers & Hood. Those helped a lot.

The last set of essentials weren't too bad, but that final node with Sentry, X-Force, and OBW was brutal. Took four tries and three different teams and I only won because Sentry Supernova wiped out everyone.

A win is a win though.

Do you have to finish all of the main nodes and all of the essentials in the finale to get the psylocke cover, or is it possible without completing every single node?

All main and essentials to get the psy prize. Only 3 more to go for me! That's like what? 15-20 healthpacks? icon_e_wink.gif

Unfortunately, I have one max guy (Patch) and a few other 3* slightly into the hundreds. Because of that, my scaling is &^%#$(. I'm stuck at the Juggernaut node with 1* Iron Man and BW. Great event but probably the most frustrated I've been yet in this game. It seems every match they make leads to 2 or 3 cascades equaling an early doom for me. I guess I'll go try again.

Blarg. An extra six nodes might be enough to make me just settle for the GSBW cover, it also means I won't have to play the 8k headbutt game again.

  • I've beaten every mission now except the last one (~330) and the last set of essentials (start at ~270) - hoping to get those taken care of tonight. I've got enough Deadpool points for 2 Whales!, so I think I have a chance. Admittedly, it's just for ISO (and pride) at this point, so I'm not going to cry if I don't.
  • I liked this event.

    Please do again.

Who are you guys having success using for Essential 13 against Classic Mags/Iron Man/Black
Panther? Without M.Mags I can't seem to kill Black Panther before he cripples my team with a Rage of the Panther, and if I concentrate on him, Classic Mags ends up devastating my team.

Punisher/Wolverine/Thor aren't getting the job done for me. Who are you guys using?

That's the three I used. The fourth used was called luck. I'm pretty sure I had to use a beast TU as well.

I used OBW as my third there, stealing all the AP she could to stop Rage of the Panther from happening, but the levels I faced were low enough that she could tank a few hits and not get murdered to death. Your mileage may vary. If you can't field her, you can always try farming Lethal Recon TUs from the prologue.

Looking for advice on Essential 18: Hood & 2 Goons Level 245.

I have wiped on this node 3 times. The second and third failures felt more due to a bad board than a bad team, but still I feel like I am missing an obvious strategy here.

I used my available DP Points on Sim 42, so I can't cheese this final node.

    Any ideas?

I don't have an effective cMags.
