soenottelling wrote:His "too much info, yelled at by pr for giving company secrets" comment of rag's old red being worth 12 ap is pretty telling. That means they think damage/board control it should be worth this. Personally though I have a theory that they are going to make this a habit and as soon as enough ppl get a certain seemingly op character they nerf them forcing ppl.to get a NEW character they have to spend time or money on. It's a money grab. That's how I see it. Afterall, nobody would be stupid enough to nerf it this bad unless: 1. He gets a new ability or 2. They are going on a nerf spree to make everyone not as good...which still falls in to the "make new guys better than old to sell product.".
For that reason, brining in newer/better, they had to nerf rag. Making his red worse than thor unless they give him a good 3rd ability seems a bit crazy.
Expected nerfs: mag purple cost increased to around 13 (blue isn't that off..its strong due to matching into itself..so I could see it being rolled to 6 or 7..but its really not necessary as the ai can't use it at all properly), spidey blue dropped to 5 but increased stun time to 2, wolverine green turned into a 5 ap move, thor basically totally changed, obw tile double dip removed via black...
Unlike rag, I think mag and spidey could service nerfs of that magnitude...which means it will cost 17 purple, spidey blue just takes 5 blue, obw specifically cannot get strike tiles added to any of her attacks.
U seriously expect a wolverine nerf though. Between the "5 ap lowest" comment electro made, wolverine's strength, and a new3*** supposedly I expect that patch ...o that's the wolverine's name too huh..lol.
I doubt that it's a money grab. Given the amount of backlash resulting from this nerf, I would expect them to drive away the whales that give them the majority of their money because of this increasing sentiment that investing into characters is too risky because of how easily they can be nerfed to the ground. I would guess that this is simply the result of the devs trying to balence base off of the "baseline" ability costs that they were talking about, although this is a pretty bad way to balence given that you need to consider the character as a whole. With godlike power being meh for the most part and rags only having 2 abilities, at least one of his abilities needs to be more powerful than the baseline or produce a unique effect in order for him to be viable, and I'm not sure if the devs considered this, which is pretty disappointing.0 -
Shouldn't you be celebrating in full force0

People need to stop thinking about this as a "Rags was OP and now he isn't so thats good for the game." and think more along the lines of "Rags was OP, and now he's near strictly worse than Thor and probably unplayable". Having powerful 3* characters is good for the game as it gives people more goals to reach and strive for: Rag didn't deserve to be nerfed this badly.
The only mistake Demiurge made was making Rags 3* to begin with. He should be 2* as he is nowhere near as powerful as Thor to begin with. If you use this logic, now he's perfectly balanced . And I wouldn't say he's unplayable. He still has over 7k HP plus his buff in lightning rounds.0 -

I find the lack of willingness to discuss changes of this sort with the community...disheartening. I think they should have come to the forums weeks ago and said, "hey, this is horribly broken" and solicited some feedback.
I said this in my email about paying for 8 of his covers. Why not tell me "careful, don't spend that on rag just yet"
Well, some forumites were saying exactly that to ppl...be wary..rag will see a nerf at some point.
Anyone that has had rag for 3+ weeks cannot complain really. You own nothing in phone games (part of why I don't spend on them) with current laws so lost items, changes, etc are "tough luck, buyer beware." It's the ppl that spent money on rag in the last week or so I feel bad for. They really SHOULD give a few days of pre-patch rollout info..minimum 48 hours. If a landlord needs 48 hours to tow a car then I think the same should be said about nerfs (not that it would help all that many..but a cutoff has to be made somewhere..and its not 2 seconds before the patch goes live).
It's not in their companies best interest to create fear in the consumer as that causes frugality. Good for the
ustomer and their money..bad for the company and their employees.
It would be nice if they had given some good news with the bad though. If they have a new character..release it now..I mean sheesh...some damage control or something.0 -
Well, i was using him at level 28 in LR just to get more greens for my 85 wolverine. So not a ton of investment.
It's unfortunate to see characters weakened so much since it tends to alienate the people who have spent tons of time and money on them specifically.0 -
I think they realize how ridiculous a change it was and as much as they thought Rag was powerful but realized that it was something that gave players something to strive for, spend money for and that this kind of change was a big enough change to the meta that they may feel (as some of us do) to be unfair. Also, for those who just spent money on him...cheated.0

Bought mine right after Christmas and finished it yesterday, so I'm included. And, I'm on the forums a lot, but if it doesn't come from icex I don't take it as law. Some forumites are claiming a 3* star wolvie, doesn't make it true.0 -
frankly if ragnarok needed a nerf, so be it. its the zero dev responses explaining why certain changes were made that's positively making me (one of demiurge's greatest defenders and frankly, patient customers) angry. suddenly making changes to the shield tournament (taking away shields, reducing rewards) FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER and ZERO EXPLANATIONS is even more damning to me then the nerf to rag (which if you read my post above, shows how overhanded it was, reducing him below a 2 star level 85 hero at 3 star level 115).0

Anyone play Borderlands 2? They had some big nerfs with a shield in the game. As hated as the CEO of gearbox was, he at least let people know of it beforehand, and it didn't cost people separate money.0

nerfs are part of every game (ie. League of Legends goes through nerfs and buffs cycles every patch). the issue is there is zero fricking explanation and it has made me rather infuriated right now.0 -
Nerfs are a part of every game yes
But this isnt a nerf, its a tinykitty neutering0 -
I was able to get rags up to 5/5 about a month ago. I immediately knew that I had an unbalanced character and that he would be nerfed at some point.
I just decided to ride the rags gravy train until they nerfed him. I got a lot out of him. I'm completely fine with this.0 -

and i reiterate, did he need a nerf? yes. but was his fix well thought out? ...no. absolutely not. he was neutered below a 2 star hero at a lower level, for chrissensakes. AND ZERO EXPLANATION. i can't harp about that more.0 -
I am not much affected by this nerfing cause my rag is 2/1 and I don't try to level someone unless he has maxed abilities. Same for c storm - never leveled it, never used it.. and as it seems - never would use it lol..
Basically the only thing to be angry about is reducing the hp rewards from shield training from 500 to 100, as I was planning to get them today - like I found some other ppl had this intentions too.. That's like 800hp loss.. I blame payer players because they don't pay enough so devs force us to pay more0 -
Mags doesnt need nerfing persay, just fixing. His blue needs to be adjusted to better reflect its defensive purpose, and his purple should require both red and blue, not just blue.0

What flawed thinking. It's those who do pays fault for paying so you can play free? If you had rag you would have used him.0 -
Add me to the list of pretty pissed off.
Yes, I enjoyed Rags. Yes he could have used a tweak.
But he was HARD to get and costly to build up. Now he's worse than Thor.
This is very lame. I spent money to contribute to the game, because I thought it was excellent. Now, I'm done supporting this game.0 -
I bought 3 red last Friday and have pumped all my ISO into him. I should've known better. I knew as soon as I did it they'd nerf him. Definitely not spending any more money on this game.0
-
I am like everyone else, I spent time and money on covers to a player that you needed to be competitive in the tourneys and then without any warning or discussion it was nerfed. I would not have wasted the time or money knowing this was going to happen. Especially out of the blue.
I will not be spending anymore money on this game and just play it as it should be. Free to play.0
