I was going to read these five pages but I decided to get on with my life halfway through.

He may be right, he may be wrong but it’s all just opinions in the end.
In my opinion I’m one of the players who are perfectly happy with whatever new stuff they generate, because at least there is new stuff and the game continues to develop.
I’m also excited for the prospect of the new game engine that several forumites are so critical of.
I expect that many players in the very late game with 550s find it hard to get excited about new content, because you’ve played the game to death. It happens with all games in my experience, no matter how excited you were about them to begin with.
That being the case, maybe it’s time to look at different games to get excited about?
And please don’t think I’m telling you to ‘get out’. It’s not meant as aggressive. It’s simply my observation that some people here are banging their head against a wall and expecting enjoyment.
Also, back to the topic, I like Tanak (as previously stated) and think he should be fun to mess around with, and that’s all I’m after.

I like the fact that you can re-roll with his black if the heal isn't needed. I managed to finish all his quests before his PvP. I am super glad there were no 3* fire power quests because Nova there has been Thanos'ed quite a lot so far...maybe having Thanos boosted on a 3* release week PvP isn't the best idea...

The utility of characters is also about play style and not just level. I didn't like using iHulk, half Thor or Okoye because they didn't seem as effective as everyone said they were. I was probably wrong but I'm still not using them. I never enjoyed Polaris or 4* Juggs but now I've ascended them both, they're kind of fun to use.

I've not used Tanak yet, but I'll try him and if he's fun to use, I'll use him. If not I won't. I like to judge whether a character is "good" based on whether I'd use them in different circumstances, not all the time.

Whether they're useful depends a lot on who you're facing and whether they're boosted. Different players at different points in the game will gave different opinions and experiences and that's fine. Nobody needs to be right or wrong.

I think maybe everyone here (me included) could do with a lot less "this is" and a lot more "I think."

We all seem to have very wide-ranging definitions of what makes a character good or useful. I think that's interesting, but if we can't agree about what makes someone good, we certainly will never agree who's good.

I will continue to hold that BCS characters' powers are often so complicated or oddly worded that pre-release evaluation is very difficult (and maybe impossible) -- we really should probably stop trying to do that, and I basically have.

Tbh I'm mulling over taking a more punisher type stance, this place takes itself too seriously and fear there is no place for my shenanigans.

I've seen a few 550s in the wild. Anybody here have him at 550 and, if so, what are your thoughts?

Still at a single cover with 6 worth in shards, will champ from the release store.

I've only seen a couple of champed Nova's and they were nowhere near maxed. Hard to judge the character with supports involved. Wish I had more to say other than idk at this point.

I can’t imagine that he is any better in the 550 tier than he is in the lower tiers of 5* play.

He needs to tank for maximum effectiveness, he does random stuff, it’s possible his black would do nothing on defense since you can try to fire it and nothing happens depending on conditions - if he is full health it just says, if the effect is healing, that the power will have no effect (not sure what the AI does with this). I suppose it would slightly depend on who you’re using him with in PvP but obviously he’s not a pve powerhouse and PvP is basically the boosted folks plus or minus Thor in 550 land. He overlaps two Thor colors and both are far worse than hers.

I mean people can chase 550 in the Latests train for him as they do, but there’s no way I think people should burn CP in his store to 550 him and Adam Warlock.

The accidental preview of Agatha suggested she’ll be much better than Nova.

I didn't run into any 672s today.

Knowing what you said in that other thread, I don't think Nova is what you're looking for. He's not as bad as the general consensus (all his stuff hits much harder than I was anticipating) but I can't see a world where he's Tier 1.

For me, I do like the Nova/Coulson/4* Carol team. Nova provides special tiles that Carol can buff, and CDs that buff them. He doesn't really overlap on actives with them either (you'd use his yellow and black -- Carol is just there for passives).

I do think there is potentially a very fast and reliable team for pick-3 that involves Nova and Kang (I don't know who the third is, maybe Hawkeye?). Nova gives you a free CD for tanking every turn and yellow supports can get you more turn 0. Basically Nova is acting as an upgraded IM40 there.

Yes…I can. What would the AI do in that situation? Maybe it just saves the black for next turn but while defense is basically non-existent in a real sense, I prefer to use teams that will do stuff that works reliably on defense as much as possible.

I guess it more comes down to his kit requiring very care human management to approach effectiveness and on defense he seems like someone I’d hit without a second thought.

So, it seems like his red power does the damage to the target. And then it does the extra damage per CD that’s out to a random target for each one.

So I’ve gotten times I take out all 3 enemies on like the 3rd or 4th turn with my 3-4 May and Deathlok supplying extra ap and boost. Sometimes it’s just two of them. It’s random.

But it’s not in the description. Or, it’s poorly worded because it doesn’t explicitly say it does random damage…it just is implied by how it’s worded that it’s a giant nuke to the target, amplified by the other CDs, instead of a multi hit to random targets.

EDIT: after using him a lot more it seems apparent the damage carries forward vs being random (ala Sabretooth or Valkyrie), but I’m not always sure why it does the damage it does (seems to fluctuate more than I expect). Regardless the description is lacking in not describing the effect and he’s better than he initially looked.

It shouldn’t take me trying him a lot to figure out stuff that other characters just explicitly state in their ability description.

I've seen a few. I attacked one just to see how I would fare with my Omega Red and Juggs. I was doing well until he healed for 90k health. That pretty much ended it.
