    The more the curtain is lifted on the inner workings of the game the more I think the real fun would be in dissecting it not playing it.

    I have a 370 Nico and a dupe with 6 covers right now. So basically the difference between me getting 6 Hunters and 12.5 was 7 Nicos+ascension, which I could have easily gotten with shards if I’d wanted to target and ascend her on a max/min basis. (Or luck/rewards).

    I find this hilarious.

    Based on what the devs said about this, it's clear that the retroactive reward system basically extrapolates those rewards based on the character's table. Since the new character doesn't have that part of the rewards table, they can't do it. Presumably they'd need to set up some new kind of scripting for it, I'd argue that it probably could be pretty simple -- assuming you consider the dupe 4* "burned" to make the Ascended 5*, just give 1 cover and 2500 shards if a player has an Ascended 5*. Alternatively you can divide the 5* levels above 450 by 4 and count those as levels on an additional 4* (so 40 extra levels gives you another cover, then 500 shards for every 80 more for two, etc.)
    Still, that would require some brand new code, so I get why they haven't done it and why their response when this was initially brought up was "we'll think about it."

    Nothing is “safe” in this game. You invest in a meta character and you risk them being nerfed. You skip a bottom tier character, you risk them getting buffed. You hoard all your tokens, you risk the game shutting down. The devs are in complete control. I think many people ascended knowing they would be losing the covers. Many more probably don’t read the forums and thought it was safe to ascend and there wouldn’t be this trade-off. I fell in the camp of hoping the developers would go back on this policy personally and took the risk (though it wasn’t really a risk because the rewards glitch was worth it).

    Turns out I was wrong and they’re sticking with the policy, but I appreciate them doing this one time exception. So the policy isn’t “dead”. That’s how I read it anyway. If you all read something different somewhere, please post it (I don’t follow FB, Twitter, Discord, etc.)

    It’s possible they only make new characters feeders going forward, but I highly doubt it. Just because they really want the feeders to line up. By using this logic, we’ll never get a natural 5* Punisher, Rocket/Groot, Blade, or Namor to finish the P5, just to name a few.

    It's really a very important question though for the player base to truly know if it was a one time thing vs a regular occurrence if the play base whines enough.

    Especially because it changes the calculus of ascending. Now you always want to ascend when your 2nd character reaches 270 (or 271 if you want the extra LT) since that nets you 6 extra free retro rewards (ie no need to take 2nd character to 370).

    I've deleted my question as this pretty much covers it, I do think they could be on course for a future revolt because of this but its not my problem is it.
    I tried to come up with another question but I figured I'd just use my mystical cardboard box and see what answer comes out.

    While this is meant to be a one-off situation, you would hope that they could find a more elegant solution in the future that doesn't encourage the playerbase to disengage from ascensions above 3s due to wanting to avoid losing future 5 covers, either opting to only use new 4s to feed 5s even if they are not an ideal thematic match or to award a compromise amount such as the covers and shards that would have been earned by the initial maxed 4* champion but not the one that was used to fuel the ascension.

    It actually isn't from the initial FAQ and updated this week. Nico was allowed an exception until next Tuesday for this 7 day rule to also apply to her.

    Are you sure it’s random? If only ever heard about tons of purple covers from >20 people on Line, Discord and here, compared to zero mentions about multiple covers in the other two colors.

    Yes, small sample size, but still…
