After playing with the buffed list this week I think I want to go with Miles over venom dino. I think Miles with Canage and Riri or MThor will become a fun team. Riri or Mthor can pump out some charge tiles and carnage can help pump out attack tiles for Miles to match.

I am looking at this as a hoard breaker for Omega Red. Venom Dino might have some pro’s but he just doesn’t seem like he is FUN or INTERESTING enough for me to use him when buffed

For any new rosters out there without Okoye, like mine, I used Omega with Valkyrie & Melinda in PVE and it was fast. Omega can fire his red every turn (even without making red matches) and that also boosts his AOE.

Not really, the last several posts have been about Omega

Oh OK, I didn't read just saw you talking about OR. Sorry - as you were!

Even with all the boosted 2022 going on right now, PVE for me is WAY quicker with Okoye/OR is quicker than anything else. I have a 550 SC that I normally use (and can beat almost anything) but takes more time. OR, to me at least, is absolutely PVE meta.

So, like, I complain about usage of the word "meta" in MPQ frequently, because it doesn't make any sense. Does "meta" just mean "good" now?

I assumed you were all talking about the state of the metagame -- the conventionally-agreed-upon-and-used set of best characters and strategies. The idea of something being "meta" for one player doesn't make any sense. It's either used by most players or it's not.

@entrailbucket I believe we are saying that, Omega has become standard use in PVE, replacing IHulk.

Has he? All the PvE specialists I talked to were running 0-turn or 1-turn kill teams, and they dismissed Omega Red immediately as too slow.

Do those specialists represent the majority of 5* players? If you want an official definition of what the “meta” is, it would require a general survey. Since nobody does that, it’s based on general heresay.

Also, how do you get a first turn win on enemies at level 550 - 650?

550s, supports, boosts, passives. There are a few teams that can do it.

So...can we all just say Omega Red is pretty good, or pretty fast, instead of speculating about how much other people are using him by calling him "meta?"

That large it’s not happening. Most of the turn one teams are for opening clears only and reliant on support procs.

I would classify myself as a very good PvE player and I firmly believe Omega has a place in the top teams to run, I am running him right now and don’t see that changing soon. His impact is nowhere near the level of the boosters (Apoc, Okoye) but reliable AoE damage is very nice.

And that's why calling something "meta" is meaningless.

The PvE metagame might be "power booster + passive AoE," and any number of characters could fill either of those roles. I just think the word is silly -- stop calling characters "meta" and just say they're "good" or "fast" or whatever.

I agree. There are too many options nowadays for such a tightly defined term.

    His name is OMeta Red

Or we could not nitpick the word to death, given that the meaning behind it is pretty clear to all.

I use OR in PvE and have a non-550 roster of 5* champs. My OR is somewhere around 457, for example. When my schedule allows me to play optimally, I've yet to encounter a faster player that DOESN'T have 550s. He totally qualifies as optimal in my mind.

What is the meaning behind it??? That's the whole point! It's not clear at all!

The meaning is very clear to me. I don't know why you're having trouble with it.

Well, I must just be slow then. Can anyone define what it means for a character to be "meta" in MPQ, and how exactly it differs from a character who is merely "good" or "fast?"
