For me, I'm going to be forced to hoard tokens that reward 4* shards (shargetting?) so that I can immediately select the newest 4 as soon as they hit tokens. I'll probably rarely be in a position to sharget anyone but the newest 4 again. Currently, I only BH the newest 4 until 10 covers, then expand my focus to any character at XX9 for the LTs, then un-heart them when the newest 4 enters tokens.
This requires no hoarding.
With the Shard system, I'll want to maximize my shard points to the newest 4 exclusively.
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate hoarding? Yes. Yes I have.1 -

As mentioned, shards will be rolled out to other parts of the games and in deals. Shards progress don't stop at just pulling tokens. I thought this is pretty important, but expect even progress for shards.

Thoughts so far:
I like the general idea. But.
It's going to take me much longer to be able to play the required nodes for new 4 and 5* characters.
Opening elite packs takes sooooo long now.
Shard store seems crazy expensive.
By the time I get a single cover of a 5* to be able to do required nodes, I'll probably have drawn a cover anyway, and all those shards are wasted.2 -

Feels like the rate at which this now let's you acquire covers has been set to compliment the existence of bonus heros, and help with a bunch of problems around getting stuck on particular colours. But then if you remove bonus heroes, everything just slows right down.0

Each Heroic Token draw will earn you just 3 shards toward the 400 needed for a single 4* cover.
Until we get even more ways to earn Shards, not too many people need to be opening Heroic hoards just quite yet.0 -
Shards are live on iOS. I haven't seen any "freebies" push down yet. If you're looking for the shard hp offers, they are up in the HP menu where you'd purchase it with money. I currently have available:
3* R&G - 15 shards for 35hp
SWitch - 15 shards for 35
Ghost - 20 for 115
C4rnage - 20 for 115
X23 - 20 for 115
OML - 20 for 560

Also, some of you have been wondering about initial Shard Shop costs. Those are as follows:
One 4* cover (400 shards - all 20 packs) would be 4320hp if I did my sums right, so quite a bit more than a hfh deal for 3600hp. However it would be for the colour of your choice....
It wouldn't be worth it for me.... but everyone is different, so to each their own.

Well thanks to my terrible roster management skills, Sentry has already advanced 1/3rd of the way to an extra cover already when that was supposed to be Angel. This is how Talos gets Champed isn't it? 😶5

For me these are going to be maaaaaaybe sweet spots to short-circuit a number of pulls. If we assume I'll only ever pull the first offer for one of these, I'm essentially spending:
560hp to get the shard value of 6.667 pulls from a legendary store (minus th 6.667 covers of whatever I would have landed along with the associated 4* shards, but since it's for HP this isn't a tradeoff). So it lets you trade some HP for a few days less opening tokens/cp at the 5* tier.
115hp is comparable in price to a daily-deal offer in a featured pvp store, with 3.333 pulls worth of shards, except you are trading the random 3 covers you'd get along the way for that, some of which could conceivably be 4*s. This deal does in fact feel worse, since it's using the same buy-in currency as just getting the token directly.
I don't know, these kind of feel like bad deals to me below 5*, and even then I'd never have that much HP all at once to get all 20 drops (which wouldn't actually be enough to get a complete cover anyway).
