I know that I could have gathered some more points, probably enough for top 30, but that would have meant a sleepless night and impacting my subsequent workday.
Just out of curiosity, did you wake up early/went to bed late/both? Has this been fun for you? Because after the 4th match against Daken/Ares/Yelena (and the countless others assorted nodes) a lot of the fun for me had vanished.
It's much more important to play during the last hour and losing an hour of sleep to get two covers instead of losing almost 4 (assuming you normally go to sleep around midnight) and only ending up with one cover doesn't seem to be a good tradeoff?
I got up at 5, grinded for 45 minutes, and made it to 7 from 148.
Edit:
Seems the devs need to grind harder, waiting for 10 hours for the alliance cover is... something else.0 -

I am not sure that was true. Question how much is a bit below. I am at 30752 and see no rubber band so that would make the part behind the leader were you see no scaling nearly 4K, probably more as you my well not be the overall leader.
So assuming Skyedyne has a little below 35K points and I had 30752 that mean there is at a minimum 4K points between me and the global leader however I was only seeing base node values.0 -
Alliance reward is almost refreshing at this point.0

I am pretty sure 40K was unreachable.
I finished at 37,440 and that was doing all of the essentials and hard nodes four times and the easy ones once. i stopped once my nodes were worth less than 50. At best I left 500 on the table each refresh and I am pretty sure it was more like 300-400 but using the 500 number it means I left 1500 on the table and that only pushes my total to 39,000.
If you got the 35K progression then you got the top award avaialble.
I am still waiting for my alliance reward purple cover and as soon as I get it LD will be at 141 and availalble for your perusal.0 -

Curious to see what yours were at Bee and anyone else who needed to grin ceaselessly.
Ok, this might be kind of noobish, but I was sitting around 200 in the main while the subs were up. Finished t50 in both subs, and 21st in main. How will you know if your MMR is insane? Just wait for the next PVE event? I've only been playing for a little over a month, so don't crucify me for asking.
... still waiting on alliance rewards btw... 9 and a half hours after event ends...
Your MMR (or Match Making Ranking) is easily identified as "out of control".
When you start an event, your nodes will generally be low. Unless your MMR is already out of control, in which case they will be high. 'Easy' nodes Vs. 'Impossible'. It's like a handicap to keep you in check and give others a chance to do better than you. You play Golf, same principal.
So, if you started the event with Enemy levels in the 30s and finished in the 60~70s, your MMR is under control and when the next round of PvE begins, there will be a "reset or decrease in your MMR" which in turn results in your nodes once again returning to a similar level.
When your MMR is out of control. Usually because you grind and win too much... Your level 30s end up in the upper 100s/lower 200s or possibly higher. When the event ends, your MMR is lowered, reset, whatever. The next event begins, but instead of facing "easy" level 30 nodes - you are immediately put up against level 80 ~ 100 nodes. You continue to beat those down and enter into a vicious cycle of MMR rising because you are beating those nodes. The nodes get higher and harder as you climb. Until you reach a climax. The "glass ceiling".
The proverbial "Glass ceiling" is when you reach the cap of possible MMR value. Lets put this value at 100% or 100/100. This means your nodes will be at the highest possible level - 395! Now, said ceiling can be surpassed. So you do not cap your MMR there. Say, you are crazy capable, burning boosts and grinding those 395s because you have the roster to do so... Your ceiling is now rising. Let's say you are now at 200/100. Ouch! Beyond out of control!! The even ends, and the "reset" occurs. Noone knows exactly how this works. In percentages or static values. So, for argument sake, we will give a value of 30% to this.
The next event commences, your invisible to you MMR is decreased by 30%. So 200/100 become 140/100. You are still above the ceiling, way above. You will be presented with every node being at their highest possible value.
This can be solved with a full roster - depending on who you are up against in the nodes, because as seen above, you were capable of beating down those 395s. And the vicious cycle begins. Each time you beat one of those nodes, your MMR increases.
When you experience this - as I, and others have; recently in the event "The simulator", it sucks pretty bad. Basically we started the event and were presented with 2 opening nodes. Easy and Hard. Both nodes consisted of 3 x 395 heroes. Beating the "easy" node and entering "The simulator" every single presented node - remember this is the "easy side"; was already at 3 x 395.
I hope that answeres your question.
Everything here is probably over simplified, but that is the Jist of it.
**Edit: Change "the hunt" for "the simulator"
**Edit 2: Added some clarification for readability.0 -

I'm in the UK. So is Bee. B finished top 3 I think.
The fact you and a few other UK players did really well in the event (grats by the way) doesn't change the fact this event (and virtually every PvE) is horribly timed for UK/European players. Yes, it's possible to get up early, or stay up through the night, but that's not feasible for a lot (majority?) of people. I have a wife I don't want to disturb by setting an alarm for 4AM. I have a job I actually like staying awake through (most of the time).
I moan and **** about event ending times a lot on this forum, and I will continue to do so. Despite the fact the game has a global playerbase, D3 seems to only really care about the ones who live in North America. Very very few PvE events end at European friendly times, and the ones that do are often the "Round 2" of an announced back-to-back tournament. I can't remember a single event that introduced a new character that actually ended at European friendly times. It's heavily biased towards NA players and I'll continue to moan in the hope that one day, some day, D3 might actually pay attention and make us European players feel like they actually give a damn about us.0 -
I am also still waiting on all my rewards (individual and alliance). I guess I won't worry about it until tonight, as others are in the same boat. I certainly won't be letting it slide as I had to play the hell out of the event to climb out of the hole I was in the main bracket.
There is no way 40K was possible for people that joined after the alteration in the first sub. I grinded almost every node to under 100 after every refresh and was 4K short. Oddly enough I ended up 18th, so I guess I'm glad they expanded top 30 or surely I would have been out of top 20, as it ended up being so very tight in the top 25 of my bracket. I think I held the position, just because the others figured they were getting the same rewards, and fighting for the 500 additional iso for top-15 was just not worth it.0 -

Did you join the event after they messed with the first sub? No one in my main bracket has more than 28k points, let alone 35k.
Nevermind. I derped on the score. I hate waking up.... sigh.
I took this to mean that score of "just a bit below 35k" was in fact much lower. Certainly he/she didn't need their question answered anymore!0 -

Actually I usually go to sleep at about 1 am and wake up at 7, so it was going to be 2 hours of sleep lost anyway. Waking up at 5 would have meant setting up an alarm, with the risk of waking up my kids and the ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY of waking up my wife, so I would have got an angry wife, two sleepy/hungry kids and zero chances to complete the event anyway. Also, even in the event of me managing to play, the community scaling probably would have put the last two matches out of my possibilities, so probably the Blue cover would have still been out of my chances.
Look, I'm not complaining about the end times, or the scaling. With preparation I can get around those. It's the rubberbanding I'm complaining about. Playing an event for a week, overcoming an initial point gap caused by a misjudgement error, getting close to a good placement and missing it by just a few points not because I'm bad at this game, but because others have an advantage in terms of time/geographical location/craziness is what I'm complaining about. Yes, I know I'm not the first one, I won't be the last and my voice is just a drop in the bucket, but I really hope the devs are at least reading our complaints.0 -

The majority started to play at -2h point, right when you went to sleep. As we had 2x12+6 hours it wasn't even much realistic otherwise, most nodes must have passed the full reset around that.
And we had 4k base points in a refresh with almost 2k not hard to get. So being passed by that amount or even more is kinda expected.Kappei wrote:Just out of curiosity, did you wake up early/went to bed late/both?
Emeryt has a buzzer set at 3:45 I stay up and go to bed after finished the push or the event finished.Kappei wrote:Has this been fun for you? Because after the 4th match against Daken/Ares/Yelena (and the countless others assorted nodes) a lot of the fun for me had vanished.
Surprisingly it was not bad at all for me this time -- maybe sitting in the lead made some addition. Maybe because the times to play just happened when I was up to it. There was a little more of repeats than I'd have liked but battles were not excessively hard (nerf of Daken really helped there!) and it required some change to play style to make it interesting. The only real pain I recall is the fraking guesswork on which tinikitty goon controls which tinikitty counter what we asked to indicate million times over. On the bright side Storm I used a lot is * so wakes up after mere 5 minutes, not a big deal on a wrong guess.
The ares/madaken was unfair but I only won it once per refresh, made another run after finished the work but just got wipes. Fortunately didn't need those points, and everyone else had similar struggle apperantly.0 -
Event closed 9 hours ago, now where's the rewards?0

Even for NA players, you get a huge advantage from being west coast vs east coast (like me). I left the event at 10:30 pm in rank 18, finished rank 45, having done my push between 9:30 and 10:30. Like you, I have a wife, job, etc, so am not staying up until midnight or setting an alarm. If I were on the west coast? Easy final push between 8 and 9 pm. WoW raiding in college was the last time I scheduled my life around a game; these days it's just not happening. Always helpful to remember though, that it's just a game.0 -

Also checking in.
Ended up at #10, still no rewards; neither personal nor alliance.
Not sure if related, but I've been having connection problems ever since the event ended; timeouts, comm link disrupted, etc. when trying to load app, before and after matches, just basically all the time.
Never had any problems before.0 -

I finished little over 38k and didn't see anyone with more on the alliance rosters. Lack of RB suggest global within 1k, would not be surprized if it was actually me... I had about 1k points left on the table in the final.
Though if mined all nodes fully on all refreshes in this final leg that could have gone to 43k. But I'm not sure the additional scaling would have allowed it really, most of my left point were in the madaken node that at end reached 259. From 202 at start. The additional games could make another 40 or 60 lvl bump by conservative estimate.0 -
I finished at somewhere between 30K and 35K... rubberbanding was almost non-existant near the end, as I was seeing slight increases of maybe 10 points here or there on my various nodes even as I was about 6K behind the bracket leader.0

5/3/5 or 5/5/3 or 5/4/4?
going to try 5/3/5 to start. See how it works and then readjust, if necessary, when they have the PvP event which gives out covers.0 -

Same as Bee. Save for the fact that I finished 6th. Was in first until 15 minutes remaining- and only 50 or so points behind 1. I had forgotten to do the "like father like son" node... Or didn't notice it. Could have hit it for 200+ and esily taken first. Xforce was 1K Iso. I let some others who possibly needed it, have it.
But, I have to say, like Bee above, had to grin pretty hard in the first 2 subs to make up the distance from 641 to top 5 in my main. I know I am screwed with the MMR. At the end of this Event, my final Daken Node and his pals were starting to hit the upper 260s / lower 270s.
Curious to see what yours were at Bee and anyone else who needed to grin ceaselessly.
I didn't raise my levels my MMR stayed level throughout event only community scaling kicked in my highest recorded level was 182 zone.0
