In terms of points, it didn't really help those that did well in those subs to retain their lead overall. Now that everyone is grinding the main bracket event, rubberbanding will allow those that did not do well in the sub events to catch up to the leaders. I'm not complaining because I didn't do well in the subs and I thought I wouldn't be able to stay in Top 150 but because of rubberbanding on the main bracket event, I climbed up to #25 at the moment.
This happens more often than you think.
There is generally three scenarios.
1. There is no rubber banding so whoever grinds the most and finishes the last mission at the prefect time they win. Now a days scaling usually means the newest rosters win this event with a few exceptions.
2. The last sub has far more points than the rest of the subs making all previous subs useless.
3. The event ends with a main bracket only making all subs worthless.
Obviously there is some wiggle room in there and some combinations but aside from the people who got mangled by the points adjustment this is a solid number three. The most common things is only the last 2 days of any event generally matters. Which is dumb.0 -
Question: is there any reason to get the points later if your refresh is ready? i don't know if rubberbanding is going to be enough of a difference to risk starting too late and running out of health packs.0

seanarmstrong wrote:idk how you can possibly think all subs are worthless, the points in this main bracket repeatable nodes aren't that good. I'm currently in 2nd and doubt i could have done that without grinding the subs
I have taken to speaking in absolutes in the last while as it helps get your point across but of course they are not worthless points. However as of right now I am almost at the lowest rank I have been in all tourney at 43rd and falling (Was 61 prior to my second refresh of the first sub). The lead that was carved out and garnished has been eroded and made inconsequential due to the main bracket as I am only 3k behind the leader. So playing hard and staying ahead means actually nothing, someone who did the bare minimum of just being around the top 30 can win this. That imo makes the subs "worthless", sub wins should add to your lead, not made irrelevant by banding in the last day.
Now you will probably make the point that I still have a base lead and can regain the ground, this is probably true to a point. PvE now as to then is very important to do as little as possible to win. It is entirely possible at these enemy levels even liberally boosted, I can lose my entire team twice to cascades and this 7 day long event is completely lost due to random chance and equalizing the playing field that is rubber banding.
That is why the subs are the bread, and the main bracket is the meaty lobster of this event. I don't like lobster btw, its like a cockroach of the sea...0 -

Further to your point, or rather, as a good example: I'm about halfway through my last clear (all pins done twice) and am sitting at #6 in my bracket. About 36 hours ago I was at #200. And until now I was facing only Trivial matches.0 -
As I said earlier, the subs didn't matter. Three scoring cycles against the global main bracket leader has assured this outcome.
However, there is another developing trend that is occurring that hasn't been mentioned yet. As everyone is rubberbanding against the global leader, as time passes, all scores gravitate towards the leader's score. Therefore, as more time passes, the brackets are becoming tighter and tighter. For those impacted by the scoring snafu, they might not yet see the effects of this. However, for those in normal scoring brackets, the evidence is already clearly visible.
In my bracket, with only 2k difference between my current score and my main bracket leader, I am outside of the top 50. First and tenth are separated by 700 points, and the 10 people around me in 51st place are separated by only 200 points.
This is really going to be a TaT style finish, with the scores so close, that not playing every node to the buzzer might ensure missing the Top 30 for all three covers as I betting there will be less than 1,000 point spread between 1st and 30th by the of the event in many brackets as scores continue to merge on the global bracket leader.0 -

Ya I was going to say why not everyone join a bracket, do a node at the same time and whoever ends up first after that one node at the right second wins and save us 7 days of scaling, as that is literally what is going to happen. But I thought it sounded too cynical.0 -
I don't know if someone said this already, since I missed pages 30-50 of this thread, but look at the description for Time For Some Answers:
"What does H.A.M.M.E.R. want with Juggernaut and Venom? How has Osborn built such a powerful army so quickly? It's time to beat some answers out of these two."
Then look at the characters:
Lazy Daken (expected, it's his event)
But then... Ares and Yelena?
THEY ARE IMPOSTORS, THEY STOLE THE IDEA FROM THE NODE NEXT TO THEM!
...
Oh well, just trying to bring some levity to the thread!
But it brings up an interesting point: which team would be less painful to face at ridiculously-scaled levels? Ares-Yelena-Daken or Juggernaut-Venom-Daken?0 -

You didn't know Juggernaut was actually a petite Russian woman inside that suit?
Juggs + Venom are too fast for my tastes. At least Yelena takes forever to get the AP she needs. I'm quite happy with the existing lineup.0 -
Cleared one essentials pin... reached 30th place in my bracket, less than 1,300 points from the leader. Bleh.0

this final daken node is insane, i just boosted +6 to redyellow green black, ares just has an insane amount of hp and i almost made it, but yelena just wrecked me twice >.< really hope i have enough time to get back to top 30 >.<
and i agree, the rubberband effect has been massive for people who were far behind, someone in my alliance had only 17k after the 2 subs and is currently at 317770 -
My nodes are giving so few points by now I thought I was doing PvP for a moment there. Only ones giving me triple digits are the **** ones at the top.
Got to 3rd in my bracket with a bit over 35k. Let's see if it's enough for Top 30.0 -
I don't know what I did wrong, but I've been lagging behind the top guy the entire event by at least 5k and grinding these nodes hasn't closed the gap at all; I'll be lucky to make top 150, and I haven't exactly been slacking during this event.0
-
in 1st right now hopefully I can maintain top 3 for my first x force cover.0
-
this is crazy tight, im 365 from 7th place and im 32 lol0

That scoring change made on the first day really screwed over a lot of people. I think the closest I got the gap down to was about 3K but at least I'm still in with a shot at a Daken cover so I'm not in such a bad place (80th last time I looked).0 -

Good for you. I could be higher but I chose to back off rather than make my scaling any worse.
I'm getting enough grinding in PVP for no reward to want to do it here as well.0 -

Somehow, I've managed to keep myself in the running for top 30. Just have to time when I start playing to try to keep myself up there.0
