    I know you are trying to get us to spend cp.. but requiring the 2 least rostered 5s and the character that was with them in packs for a long time now in the first 3 events is down right evil.
    ESPECIALLY for a new release.

    Doubtful. All placement rewards, including PVP were "to be determined". Anniversary won't start until next week, right? Everything is fine.

    @Brigby from all of us players, please tell the devs that they are genuinely awful for requiring Doc Ock, the least rostered 5*, already. That is some sinister garbage. One day this team will stop actively trolling its player base.

    Don't worry.  They will do 5* DD next. Then after the next 5* is released they will make that an essential 1 week after being in tokens. Why not start at the beginning with the ones that were released first for a brand new node.

    Anybody remember when they started Crash of the Titans? The first required 4* was X Force Wolverine, and the expressed reason was he was one of the most-covered 4* in the game. Where in the world did that sentiment go?

    The devs don't like hoarding.  It messes up their management of in game economy.  

    Someone has to be required..and the game has always rewarded having as many characters rostered as possible.

    The only thing different is until now, some operated under the assumption that they could target a hoard to get 3 champed 5's (a strategy that has a lot to recommend it) and suffer no negative consequences.  No more, apparently.

    To ask a constructive question: what does the individual placement rewards chart for a new release look like in SCL9? That scenario wasn't covered in the SCL 9 thread's OP.

    Well, I imagine a 3* release would look the same as a non-release event, but there should be some differences with a 4* release event.

    To be determined alliance placement rewards in pvp? I was thinking a 4* might be next but 4s aren't given out as alliance placement rewards in pvp. So either they updated how they handle new characters in pvp events and will now give out 4s for new releases or the new character sounds like it could be a 3*. Then again it could be a new 4* in pve and a new 3* introduced in pvp.

    Bummer,  I dumped the 1 Doc Oc cover I had like 2 weeks ago, before 5*essential was a thing. Now I'm gonna miss out on whatever cool new X-Man is coming. I'm hoping there are a lot of others who don't have him rostered either

    Top 100 rewards a cover for a new character. You just wouldn't get 2 or 3 covers for being in the top 10-20, without Doc Ock, in CL7-9. Outside of getting into an insanely dead bracket anyway. You can always go down to 6 for a shot at three covers in top 10 but you'd miss out on Mockingbird's progression cover.

    Ya'll have really got to stop killing yourselves like this. Seriously. If it were just the PVE rewards that weren't determined, you might have more foundation for concern, but no placement was determined for PVP either. Stop all this worrying about missing out until the placement is finalized.

    Gotta wait on the stupid Marvel.com article to get first dibs on announcing the new character. That's how we get "fun" things like finding out the character or their powers from the event preview before an official announcement is made.

    As far as the 5* node is concerned, I'm with everyone else that thinks it should have started with Surfer and not the most recently released characters. I could have even bought into a balanced test, like doing a most covered (Thanos? Bolt?) and a least (Banner? new Spidey?) as the first two. But rolling us through SL, Spidey, and Ock makes it feel like the 5* node is a punishment instead of a reward or at least opportunity for reward.

    I asked when they were announced what the procedure would be for adding 5*s, specifically because I was worried that Spidey or Daredevil would be included "too soon" to the detriment of all but the blubberiest whales. It's not a lot of fun to see them pushing that worry instead of assuaging it, you know?

    I didn't want it to be SS. I don't have any of his covers. Or Phoenix. Or OML. My Starlord is 4/2/5. My Spidey is 3/0/3. I like being able to participate.

    Congrats!    And I believe that with the CP increases of late (DDQ, nodes, etc), it is very possible that more recent 5's have more covers amongst the player base.  Latest offers the best option for picking up 5's.  I personally am no whale, but do play a lot and pull as I go.  My coverage is:  5SL=12 covers, 5pidey=10 covers, 5ock=13(and one on vine).  I just pulled a 7th SS cover.  My sad BB has just 1.

    I’m just waiting for the backlash from the forum when they make OML the required 5* after a large majority sold him after he was nerfed

    The problem is not only the choice of the essential 5* requirement......the real problem is the crazy difficulty of that node considering that the essential character is not even buffed. 
    That node is a real pain, even for those with higher rosters and with well covered essential character.
    This is the main reason, together with the lack of good rewards (compared to those available for scl8) , for which the opening of scl9 (as it is at the moment) has been a complete failure.
    As ever, good intentions but bad realization.
