  • Jim1200, how were you in a couple of alliances? If I was a commander I would do everything possible to keep you happy as you are one of our top players and I could rightly assume that would be the case in most alliances. Heck, you motivate me to do better in PvE as that is the only area I can catch you. You and entrailbucket keep me on my toes for top score in PvE always grinding it out until the end to see who is victorious, all except that one time I had to work a 72 hour week then you all destroyed me and my tiny little score.

fsentell, you'd be surprised about how much people promote their alliance as a top 100 and it really isn't. I'm competitive, so it's fun to be in an alliance with other people that are the same way. It makes it fun to play.
  • I am competitive as well and that is why I like it in this alliance. I like that I don't have to be number one leading the way in PvE for us to do well overall as was the case in other alliances. Wish that I could contribute more in PvP but soon enough I think that will be possible as I am picking up covers at a faster rate as it is a domino effect and will need to grind enough iso-8 to continue to level my roster. Getting there though as many of my characters have a decent amount of covers but are in the cue to progress.

Looks like PVE event tabs are back, at least for now. The Hunt is now over, and we finished 65th as an alliance with 1046257 points earning Lazy Cap blue, 2000 ISO, and 50 HP. Thanks to those that helped push us into top 100 for this event, I and a few others were missing blue entirely from our Lazy Caps and it is much appreciated! Also, congrats to the 7 members that made all the progression rewards to snag another Human Torch Jr. black. Individual stats to follow:

    Jim1200 - 100173
    entrailbucket - 92998
    Bobby Digi - 91063
    Neilorax - 80769
    Nintenji - 79071
    Beast1970 - 78703
    Proximity - 77654
    Kuangster - 69921
    pbrownusmc - 60702
    solesoulsorrow - 59742
    PorkBelly - 43052
    FOAD - 40262
    Deatheacher - 40113

    Spanntastic12 - 22961
    White1 - 16678
    ashish.utd - 2642
    seanarmstrong - 2386

Even more amazing, no new PVE popped up the minute this one was done! Enjoy your CAP upgrades! Good luck out there and see you in the chat!
  • I will enjoy my 4 lazy Cap covers. Big Thanks to Nintenji! And to our commanders for recruiting him! We are back to respectability in PvE again! Yay! On another note, we are picking up covers consistently but can someone tell me how to grab more iso-8 faster? Have all these 3*s in desperate need of leveling.
  • As a sort of reply to beast's post on alliance requirement, here is where i am with this game

First a big thanks to the commanders for how well this is all run and taking a chance on someone with, at the time a average roster, I hope i am justifying your faith in me. my main problem with this game is end times for pve, being in the uk/eu zone i was having to get up at 3:30am to play the last hour/half to be in with a chance of getting the covers, which i was happy too do, as i really enjoy this game, but this became a problem in the juggernaut/heroic pve where after playing till the end at 5am i went back to bed and slept through my work alarm, needless too say i was not popular at work and this may have cost me my job, no game is worth that and so i made a concious decision to step back from pve as not being able to compete for covers sort of took the fun out of it, i do think beasts comments on hettin essential nodes every 12 hours is fare and if i see the alliance droppin out of the top 100, then i'm happy to pull my weight, what would not make me happy would be to be bumped from alliance for being too low too often, i understand this is a U.S based game and they are lookin into the end times at the mo, so here's hoping for maybe a more staggered end time.

As for pvp, this is my bag, shields eliminate my problem with end times, cleared 10k in last season, and having such a strong and competitive alliance is making this a real joy "i'm coming for you top 3". i can only see me getting stronger in these events i want that 1000 points and i will get it.

hope you don't think i'm ranting just giving the facts as i see them, and again thanks to all and ill see you in battle!

white1, you do not have to explain anything to us. For the most part, you pull your weight. Getting 10K for the season is great. Ultimately, it's just a game and we would never want you to lose a job over it.

fsentell, I would hit up the lighting rounds when they pop up. You're already grinding out the PVE for ISO. It's one of those things that take time. If you end up in a good PVP bracket and you can secure a top 5 spot, that's a good way to get a lot of ISO too.

My point with the PVE may be a bit muddy as I was trying to keep things a bit short. If you look through our history, roughly half of us will grind in PVE. That alone is not enough to get top 100 if the other half does nothing. However, we don't necessarily need the other half to grind and set alarms as White1 said he used to do. You will find that, using point examples from the last PVE, if you hit the essential nodes once when the sub opened, they were worth roughly 400-500 points. If you cleared them once and waited about 12 hours or so, sometimes less, the next time you cleared the highest was often over 1000 and lowest about 800-900. All I did was hit these, once per sub I cleared all nodes, and maybe repeat the highest score node once as well, and I was able to get all the progression rewards despite starting about a day late.

The key to doing well with minimal effort in PVE is having the essential character, which is often the one just released in the previous PVE. As long as we get top 100, everyone gets one cover to allow everyone to do the essentials next PVE, which is high point value for low enemy level. A clear twice a day with decent time between will get you damn close to personal top 100, but will almost definitely get the alliance in top 100, close to top 50.

White, I understand the end times for PVE, and don't expect you to destroy yourself trying to wake up for them. What I would recommend if possible would be: hit the 3 essential nodes once each in the morning, go to work, sometime that evening hit again, maybe hit another node or two in the evening as well. Somewhere between a total of 6-10 fights per day in PVE, and I think you will see a good return score wise with hopefully little effort. If you are not a morning person (as I am not), I hit the essential nodes when I get home, then again right before bed. If I'm lucky, I hit them at lunch once. It actually sounds like more work than it is, and I still pull good scores.

The minimalist approach will provide a good enough base of points for the grinders to work off, and we all get the covers from alliance rewards. Hope this isn't too confusing of a ramble, and to address your other concern, there is a major difference between being low in PVE score, and putting zero effort in, i.e. only did one or two nodes total in a 7 day event. While PVE scores have been a topic of discussion when deciding if we should replace someone, it is the secondary topic that rides the PVP discussion and has not been nor will it likely be the thing that prompts us. Our replacements have occurred due to the combined lack of PVP effort and lack of communication with, or response to us. PVE is just an addition to what is normally a bigger problem in that decision.

PorkBelly can correct me if I'm mistaken, but I do not believe we have ever replaced anyone without attempting communication first. When we see problems come up, the commanders discuss via PM, Pork normally sends the member PMs clarifying what we have issue with and gives a chance for communication and correction before a final decision is made.

For the sake of transparency so everyone is aware, Pork is the founder and has final call on everything. My role is normally documenting performance here and occasionally waxing philosophical. Bucket scores lots and lots of points, and keeps current on strategies and roster recommendations. We are all receptive to PMs, and unless you specify otherwise, normally share info back and forth.

Holy **** this post got long quick. tldr- white, you are fine, everyone should be aware we give warnings first, here's who's who, and good luck out there, see you in the chat!
  • Whoa White1, slow your roll. I respect everything you just said and life comes before this game but "top 3"? Ah hells nah! I will CB you all day long before I see you pass me overall as I am going for top 3! I will however accept a tie for third place, i.e. bronze/second loser.

Edit: this was sarcasm/a joke so please take no offense.

2nd edit: take for example this week and PvE for lazy Cap. I managed top 10 by doing just what Beast stated right above. Twice a day I hit all the essential nodes, once every 12 hours. Now I admit there was probably some luck involved such as a good bracket placement and my girlfriend not waking up in bed when I snuck off to get a few games in but still minimum work for top 10 placement. True at the end of each sub-event I played some other nodes but those were worth under 200 points each and not necessary in the end. His plan of first thing in the morning, right after work, and a refresh or two before bed is a solid game plan and should be more than enough to get you middle of the alliance points wise.
  • Beast,

Now you all have me thinking. How do PorkBelly, entrailbucket, and yourself know each other then? Did you all just meet in the forums, friendly retaliations in game, or friends growing up? Just asking because you all seem to all be on the same level and I took it as you all knew each other way before playing this game together.

Believe it or not, I had finally decided I needed to join an alliance. I had been playing since a few weeks after the game came out, lurked the forums since the second day I had the game, so I thought I had something to offer. I checked out the alliance looking for players thread and saw PorkBelly's post, so I sent him a PM, popped into the alliance and waited for him to approve me. I don't remember for sure, I might have been the 5th player, if not it wasn't much more than that. I had been saving HP for a while as I used to not shield at all and focused more on PVE than PVP, so after a while I offered to buy some slots to expand us, and he made me a commander so I could open space. I enjoyed the in game chat and came to know him there. I believe we either found Bucket or he found us shortly after that, and made the same offer for the last few slots. We all seemed to click, wanting the same things for the alliance. You can see the results in some of my early posts here, and we still believe in the same, fun should come first, this isn't a job, it is a game. It's been a great trip, I know I've learned a lot, I used to feel lucky to get 500 points a PVP, tips from Pork and Bucket really helped me develop my game to where I was actually competitive. But nope, none of us knew each other before the alliance.
  • Share some of these tips as I am obviously in need.
  • thanks for clarifying a few things beast, i have taken on board what you said
fsentell, i like the cut of your jib and will be lookin forward to our friendly competition, maybe i'm missing something but is your in game name diffirent and if it is let me know it, as i may need to watch my back, or maybe wave at you from below.
  • Sorry about that White1. My IGN is Bobby Digi. Forget some of the newer folks haven't seen me post here a lot. I am always game for friendly competition as it keeps the staleness of repetitive gameplay at bay. That and trash talking is so much fun when meant in jest. Take Jim for example, he is normally number 1, I mean to knock him off his perch as it will only better his game but mine as well. By the way fsentell is just the fake e-mail generated name from the website that I decided to use because I wasn't sure if I was going to get into this game or not and it stuck.

    Hi all,

I had a topic that I wanted to bring up regarding Season 4. A few of you have PM'd me or brought up this general topic in chat.

As you all know by now, the award for top 100 alliance is IW yellow.

Unlike the Fury covers, this particular cover has a higher drop rate from heroic tokens than any 3* so relatively speaking, it's pretty common. It is also featured frequently as a reward in regular PvP and PvE.

My question to you guys is - how much do we really want to work for it?

Speaking personally, putting up 900+ points for every PvP has become a bit of a grind especially when I have no use for the individual rewards just for Season placement.

So I wanted to pose a proposition - don't worry so much about the Season rewards.

I would like to be able to pick and choose which PvPs we want to go hard for and which we can slack on.

For example, if the next PvP has Loki (or Daredevil) rewards which no one want or needs, we can agree to go easy. Obviously, any individual player can go for as many points as they like for individual placement. We may or may not get the top 100 in this case.

But, if a PvP features rewards for a very valuable or new character (Sentry, Hood, upcoming Captain Marvel), we can agree to go hard enough for everyone to get the extra cover.

I can see times when we might disagree on what constitutes a "valuable" character (for example, I'm not a Lazy Cap fan but I know lots like him) and at that point, we can just put up the standard ~600 points Beast1970 mentioned in his earlier post.

I assume this will mostly happen organically but it will require people to speak up on the forums & communicate a bit more from time to time.

Despite some of the downsides mentioned above, I think this approach has some significant benefits as well-

    1) Helps prevent burnout
    2) Saves HP from shield use
    3) Frees up MPQ PvP time to be allocated to PvE when there is a new character/valuable award.

Chime in below & let me know what you think.
  • I agree 100%. I prefer we get all the pve alliance covers than waste time going for more useless loki or rags covers.

Although I wouldn't mind winning an IW cover, I do agree with what Pork said (FWIW! icon_e_smile.gif).

I am currently trying to keep up with the Unstable thing, (the red Steve at 20K will complete his covers for me, and I won't mind getting some Cap Marvel covers).

I guess, to keep all of us on the same page, it is a good idea to keep us all informed of what we consider desirable covers?

I agree as well, but we need more people to communicate what they want to fight for.

For example, I'll be pushing Fresh Cut, as I need Steve covers badly. I have 5 red, but only one blue and two yellow. As a result, the alliance reward isn't important to me this time.

Having said that, it may be important to others, and they need to let us know. I have no problem going all out in an event to help someone else get covers even if I have maxed the character. I know others have done the same in the past, such as Entrailbucket, because that is what the alliance is about.

People do need to let everyone know what they need from the events though. I will probably be resistant if someone requests to push for that elusive Bagman cover, but other than that we have several members in transition. Helping them only helps the whole alliance.

I don't care if you have been a member for one day or since the beginning, we fight just as hard for everyone. Actually, the newest members are the most important voices in this season since they likely need the most covers.

My goal for the season standings is just a personal 10 pack finish. I have several IW covers already, but only use her if she is a required character.

I hope I made better use of paragraphs this post, PorkBelly. God help us if I do the same in one of my long ones, might turn into a multi-page post!

Let me just add that I too will be fighting for others in our alliance if they need a particular cover! And yeah, communication is obviously key there.
  • personally im not bothered with pve, i will of course keep a eye on alliance score and do whatever is needed to get the alliance cover, as for pvp i need iso not covers so will be trying hard for a top 5 placement whenever i can.

agree with previous posts good communication is the key to make sure are common goals are met.
