  • I ran into a few 141/85/141 Pun/OBW/Lazy Caps during my first climb. Unfortunately, OBW uses anti-gravity device as soon as possible and Punisher uses Retribution before Cap can lift his shield.

It's a bit like how people brought their maxed Lazy Thors into Hot Shot without realizing that the Torch will always use Flame Jet on defense.

Not if you use the loaner HT icon_twisted.gif. But yeah, I think that Pun/Hood/C. Mags is probably the best way to go on offense, and switching out C. Mags for an intimidating dude like LT or BP on defense.
  • doesn't judgement and molatov make bp/lt poor choice on defense? or will the ai save for them?
  • Both skills are good, so it doesn't really matter. Obviously if optimal one would wait to swipe over Molotov but Judgement is probably going to be better over CotS more often because the AI does not chain green collects to get its skills going.

I love facing low hp guys. OBW gets one shotted whenever I see her, you can fight me back I'll hit you over and over again till your run out of health packs for her lol. Hood however is a different breed you have to count those tiles on the board constantly
Git off your high horse, Bee icon_e_biggrin.gif
Of course we realize that oBW/Hood are extremely squishy and are not the end-game defense thanks to that and also the fact that oBW is a 2* (she may be the best 2* but she can't defend the 1000+ and higher rankings, and I'm personally fine with that).
Thankfully this tourney features a black Punisher at 1100, which most don't need, including me. Hood/oBW are perfect for horsing around at middle ranges and surprise buttdominating attackers.
Not every player is actually a S.H.I.E.L.D/end-game player and not everyone realizes the danger of the squishy thieves. Not everyone has cMags/Spidey to have infinite turns so they are forced to deal with the AP loss somehow while facing the Punisher's cheap attacks.
And when these guys are on your side, you have tons of fun.
And we play this game to have fun, at least I think so? (Infinite turns, especially from cMags, are fine too and I would have to break him out against enemy Spidey/cMags, but for now I'll run wild with my beloved thieving supports.)
As a side note, BP/LT, which are considered the best defensive duo right now, fall easy prey to Hood/oBW, I would know because I stalked some dude with that team in Hotshot and had fun experience every time, only having to mind the Desert powers and Thor's red.

tl;dr: Hood/oBW are not end-game obviously, but they are fun nonetheless and that's what's important.

There's no defense in the end game, anyway - if you sit unshielded past 1000 you _will_ lose points regardless of team composition. So you either shied, or don't, that's your endgame defense icon_e_wink.gif

Meanwhile, my team went 3 and 3 overnight, for a net loss of 22, and still sits at 800. Almost tempted to not play until the evening and see what happens, but I'll probably start retals now - so I can accumulate new ones.

Saw you pop up bowgentle, you can keep that hood to yourself

Scarecrows are in. Don't attack me while I sleep people! icon_e_smile.gif

I have a seed team node open, if people don't overwrite it, I'll pop in loaner punisher, and full covered but lvl 6 thorverine then shield tomorrow night so people can feed on my carcassy goodness.

    Choose wisely!

Well, also this. Defense matters so little so you might as well have some fun on offense instead.

Edit: Oh and I did win my Hotshot bracket without any shielding. The second-to-last day of the tourney I grabbed the 1100 prog reward (had to really break out Spidey and cMags there), then was plummeted on mercilessly overnight which greatly lowered my MMR. When I came back in the final 1,5 hours with 700+ points when #1 had close to 1000, I cleared some good retals left but most were gone from closing/opening the game, so I had to skip and find juicier matches. And Hood/oBW are kinda faster than Spider-Man, maybe Patch/Spider-Man are faster but I can't really compare without having a more leveled Patch. At the same time I was clearing high point nodes in whatever sub was closing at that time. I only made my push with Hood/oBW, maybe breaking out Spidey once or twice. Got a defensive win on Hood/oBW during that critical time as well. They were so good I leisurely put a 60 point cushion between me and 2nd, got hit for -38 right in the end, which still got me the 1st. So, if offense is the best defense, I don't see why Hood/oBW/good damage+strike tile character can't be it.

On this event, who would you pair with a 2/3/3 level 77 punisher (powered up to 116).
I do not have decent 3* (next 3* on my roster is only lvl 53), but pretty much all usefull 2* except magneto.

I currently use punished/OBW/Thor. Even though I had no difficulties during the battles, and I feel Thor overlap too much with punisher color. I tried other configurations, but it seems to be the most efficient I found. Do you have any advice?

Punished was my top priority on the 3*, but it just doesn't feel right during this event. I must be missing something.

I've been playing 3* Thor with Punisher and the synergy is decent, so I assume the same would be true with 2* Thor. Even though red and green overlap, Punisher's red and Thor's green are superior, so if you have the AP, it makes sense to use them. I could see using Punisher's green if you need to change the board, but generally Thor's would be preferential. Then you have Thor's yellow and Punisher's black, which have no overlap. Also, nobody in that scenario is tanking OBW's blue and purple, so you get the benefit of espionage on matches of those colors (though you expose OBW to damage). It seems like a good team to me.

Daken's passive strike tiles could be useful with OBW and Punisher. If you are matching green (or playing an enemy that needs green), it feeds Daken. That gives you additional match damage. You also can couple those strike with Punisher's red and black and OBW's espionage when you match blue or purple for added damage.

I might have suggested MN Mags/Classic Storm, but you don't have Magneto. Classic Storm and Punisher overlap on green though, but she can supply a lot of AP. You just need to feed that, which is hard without MN Mags or forest/desert environments.

My friend has been having fun with oBW/Punisher/Ares. He refused to level oBW for ages and his reasoning was "I got to get all the covers first". But now he enjoys her completely. oBW keeps blue to herself unlike when paired with the Hood.

    it's "her"? wow.

and so I joined. I have infamous tc5434 in my bracket, who attacked quite a lot of us quite a lot of times in Hotshot.

Tc5434 was in my main but they came second as we needed the points as an alliance. I slept through the end so don't know what anyone scored in the end I think repronaz was in my bracket as well with mischiefmaker

You know my name!!!! And to confirm I was in a bracket and finshed top 5 but I was asleep for that too and wasnt bothered as already have pun maxed as does everyone else in the world

With the occasional retaliation (to discourage repeated attacks) I'm fluctuating between 800 and 900, and I actually have to tank off all those defensive victories.
I got some really juicy retals for later today when I start my run, so that'll be delicious.
This tournament really is fun, and if I didn't want the blue Baglady I'd be happy to not shield at all and see where I'd end up.
But as it stands I want that cover so I need to stay clear of the end-hours madness, sadly.

And if there's a crazy lurking at the bottom of my bracket, come out please - I'd like to know how much effort I need to put in to win this icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • Ghast, I could have sworn I saw you in my bracket yesterday at 900 at some point. But now I don't see you anymore. What happened? Did you put in a tank team?

Ghast's MO is to get up as high as he wants, then retreat his way down to the bottom of the bracket, and then go up again, leaving forumites with points for those retreats.
