  • Anyone notice what the time is on refresh? I did these missions like 13 hours ago and am not seeing a refresh yet.

I can't imagine who put together the lineup for this event and said "YUP LOOKS GOOD! " Garbage.
The same hands-off allergic-to-playing-MPQ Devs that gave us Daredevil vs goons/Daken

On the bright side of things, both Normal mode and Deadly mode have separate final rewards. This was not the case in previous events. That means you can win up to six Lazy Cap covers by ranking well. And mid-tier players who can't really get far in Deadly mode still have a chance at a final reward even if they only do the Normal mode.

Do mid tier players really have a chance though? With no ht, psy or bp levelled, even normal is pretty much a kick in the teeth with the terrible team options.

Mid tier players are kinda screwed for this event: Wolvie is your only real option as you probably don't have mawkeye leveled.

We're all pretty screwed, even the high level players can't use their usual bag of tricks since there's almost no board control chars available.
But that's par for the course for Heroics, so... yeah.

After all the money I've spent to play this game, such limited roster just feels like a kick in the teeth. The only way to win is either already have a 141 Black Panther or spend real money on purchasing covers for HT. Level 50 IM35, 70 Psylocke with 3/4/3 and a 110 torch wit 1/1/1 and I can't go more than 1-2 fights vs lvl ~60 enemies before blowing 3 health packs. I don't know about everyone else, but being forced to spend money to progress feels a lot worse than spending money to max out a cover you actually care about. This event tinykitty sucks and it needs to be fixed.

How's your A. Wolverine? I find that he can be useful. Feral Claws works, if you aren't facing Daken and Adamantium Strike can be useful at times. M. Hawkeye isn't too bad against some of the goon fights. I've even used him on some of the easier enemy fights vs. Yelena and Bullseye.
  • The missions are hard for everyone. If I only need to use one health pack to beat something that has a guy that can move the board, that's already a pretty good outcome. About the only way things might be manageable is if you have a high level Human Torch but even he can't really do enough damage to stop the Venom + purple pump guys from stunning you forever, and Daken will still chew through his health rather quickly.

It's likely easier for people with weaker roster just because a level 15 Human Torch makes a bigger impact when the overall enemy levels are lower.

Yeah, all the people at the top of the board in our alliance are the ones in the 1->2* transition.
  • I think this event is supposed to be newbie friendly to some degree. They are welcoming PAX East players, some of whom would be new players, so perhaps they wanted an event that (partly) features the beginning roster.

No the events with a major level buff is always more friendly to a new guy. The enemy levels is some function of your roster's levels. However, this does not factor in any character's boosted effective levels. That is, a level 15 Human Torch functions as a level 105 3*, but he only counts as a level 15 for the purpose of evaluating enemy strength. Further, his buff is not a linear increase to his power. If you've a maxed out roster and you also have a level 141 HT, he's effectively level 231 which is, at best, twice as strong as other character you ought to have with a maxed out roster. However, suppose all your characters are only level 15, then HT at effective level 105 can easily be 10 times as strong as any character you ought to have. In fact the whole change to the way scaling goes is supposed to make things harder for the guy with the weak roster because it was too easy for them.

Even if you don't have Human Torch, below certain levels the enemies do not have max covers. Let's say you've level 50 guys fighting a level 45 Venom, versus guys with level 141 fighting a level 120 Venom. Those may appear to be equally difficult, but the level 120 Venom has Symbiotic Snare at level 5 whereas the level 45 Venom might not. This becomes deadly when Venom has a guy pumping him purple AP which means he can pretty much stun your whole team every other turn if not better. On the other hand the level 45 Venom might not have level 5 Symbiotic Snare and will have a hard time stunning your whole team even with the same AP pump. If Daken is low enough that he doesn't create two strike tiles, then his power is vastly reduced even if he's appropriately leveled compared to your roster. Lower covers also increase the threshold of yellow tiles Daken needs for his regen, which greatly weakens his ability to withstand damage.

Basically what are the viable strategies to use with the limited roster? I'm having massive problems trying to clear the nodes. icon_e_sad.gif

Can someone post the base node values?

I am not starting for another 24 hours maybe more but if no one posted one by then I will. Its not a matter of just killing the first node and them all opening up.
  • Just did a once clear of all nodes on normal and deadly modes.. Currently ranking around 18 on both.. The scaling isn't too bad for me, despite my spidey abuse from the last event icon_razz.gif highest level are level 78 rag-daken-venom for deadly and level 68 for normal..

Did deadly first and was wiped out many times with 108 buffed torch, 50 mstorm and 55 mhawkeye.. After refilling health pack countdown, did normal with torch, 85 Awolvie, and mstorm.. Turned out it was much easier icon_e_biggrin.gif even with nobody taking care of blue, purple, and and no yellow active skills, still managed for easier fights overall..

Mhawkeye is a liability icon_e_sad.gif he should buffed soon.. A simple targeting for placing his countdown tiles should do the job..
  • I'm doing the scitzophrenic strategy of using rubberbanding tactic in Easy bracket and doing random battles whenever I have time or points have raised enough in Hard bracket. Hard bracket is kind of "lost cause" anyhow since my **** forced roster can't beat (even with boosts) lvl80 Daken/Rags/Venom in the last node... icon_e_sad.gif
  • Die, repeat, repeat, rubberband or boost HT and BP and you have a small chance if you get the right colours on the board
  • At least after giving in and buying the 10 pack, I feel a little better about the event. I pulled 2 Blue Psylocke covers (which I didn't have) as well as another green HT cover, so it wasn't a complete waste. Having HT at level 25 and boosted to 115 means his green can hit for some tasty damage, which makes the event a little more manageable. Hopefully I can place high enough to get the red Lazy ShieldBro covers as I'm not fussed at all about getting his yellow.
  • Green HT is definitely the way forward for Goon battles in this event. Green to the max, pop the tile and then try to stay alive while picking up enough reds for Wolverine or Black Panther to take em down.

I hope IceIX and his data collectors see how many times players died and used health packs for this Heroic, or how many players aren't bothered anymore
  • My biggest gripe so far is I have literally 3 guys I can use for this...that means one I am out of health packs I am done for awhile......

The fights are doable for me with 91 BP, 85 A.Wolv and 50 mStorm - both in easy and in hard. Some (many?) in hard require proper boosting - including those OP +50% to all damage boosts, however still are doable... many a time I finish with one man standing at 10% HP but I do win...

However... the fights are so terribly tedious with the available toolset, that I simply do not WANT to play this event... I will maybe play the last 2 refreshes or maybe even last refresh - haven't decided yet - doing otherwise is a complete waste of time considering rubberbanding and how people with lowish rosters and 110 Human Torch have it way easier...
