And yeah, I might as well do it in Shield Training as well, because skipping matches aren't getting me any better matches. Do I have to WIN a match with the weak team in Shield Training, or just play through a match with it?
Just retreat your whole roster to death, no need to actually play.

Just did it about... 10 or so times. Should I try skipping some fights in this event to see if weaker enemies come up? Or just wait and Retreat from more Shield Training once my roster has recovered?

I may as well do the best I can with the team I have. Managed to level storm up to 20. Since I'm new to the game, should i just retreat against high levels to avoid losing points and just pair up against people at my level. Apprently the random alliance i joined until an alliance here is willing to bring me is doing ok in this event so I feel like i shouldn't avoid this event, even though my roster is full to get the widow's bite token.
You're likely to get a useful 2* cover from that token, say Thor/Ares/oBW.

Sometimes 10 times does the trick. so try skipping a few more times. If not, continue retreating.

Okay. Thanks, locked. I think I might wait to retreat from some more fights first, then give the event a try again. I doubt I'll be able to get up to a level that would get me a Psylocke, but it'd be nice to get to one of the levels of MHawkeye that gives some HP.
  • With the last pve event which was the most boring in the history of MPQ and this pve, I feel like I have lost all interest in the game.
Finding so many teams with 200+ GSBW / 141 Spiderman is also getting very tiresome. I had no idea so many players had maxed (or at least leveled so high) their GSBW. Thankfully, I only need 1 black Psylocke and the alliance seems to be doing ok for now.

Sorry to all the people I hit repeatedly on my way up, but I got offered the same 5 people even though I skipped like a madman.
Past 900 there's fresh blood at last.
  • You're already around 900??? Wow...

And I don't know why, but it never dawned on me how good the PVP events are for getting Iso-8. Building that up now so I can level up any lower characters who might get boosts in the next bigger PVE event.

Yeah, I wanted to say sorry to "shamusyeah" for hitting him so many times lol I was trying for 900 and got to 899 and had to take the dogs out and he came back and hit me a couple times. We must have gone back and forth at least 8 times. Not sure If I could make it to 1100 for that final green I need. icon_e_confused.gif
  • No LRs today. I had hoped to pump a bunch of ISO into GSBW before the final hours of the event.

    Blergh.

When you get into a pointless back and forth, its time for a baby Shield come back when they aren't pounding on your door.
  • Wait... so you can retaliate against people who attack you? I didn't even realize that.

We all can't be in the top alliance to guarantee a 500hp boost to waste on multiple sheilds. icon_e_wink.gif

    the red nodes are retaliations

Yep! whenever your node is red instead of yellow, that's a retaliation. And beware - if that battle is worth less than ~20 points there's a good chance that they'll re-retaliate and hit you back for more than you gained so you might end up losing points!
  • Ooooooh! I didn't realize that at all... Thanks! icon_e_biggrin.gif

    And I'll remember that.

The MMR bubble is horrible in this.
Usually there's at least some randoms thrown in, this time it's The Ladder / Bubbleboy / Walala / SongCn at every skip past 550. Haven't had that before 850 in a long while, wonder if they changed something in the algorithm.

I'm curious about this too....I'm seeing bubbleboy and mostly 141s in my queue now but then again I'm pretty high in the points. This either means:
I'm in MMR hell i.e. too high
I'm in MMR heaven but I've gone too low so I'm seeing the top players
These are the few guys close to my rating so MMR makes little difference
  • Yea, I was going to make a run at top alliance spot, but saw Walala at 900 already. icon_mad.gif

Seems like most everyone else is bunched up in 550-630 land.
  • Man, I hate when PvPs end at noon. What do I do?

Spend 300 on a cosmic shield? Let myself get knocked down and try to recover 5 hours before the event ends and hope I can secure top and shield before the final 3 hours? Or get up at 2 AM, run a few battles if I've been hit, and get the 8-hr shield (what am I, a European?)

The bolded item is probably it and the fact that there's no one in your point range with the same MMR. I was doing an early push yesterday and some of the above names popped up. So I went and won some shield training rounds and tried untanking! There is a slight difference now but that's also probably because more people have made pushes.

I've played around with this a bunch and I actually believe it's the third. It usually starts around 700-900 points. Tanking/untanking might shake up your matchups a bit, but they'll all still be tough. Essentially at the higher point values, there's not a large enough population to make MMR a relevant factor.
