Patch / CMags / Hood against any goons.
Get 2 blue matches, keep generating blue, berzerker rage to shorten the process.
CMags feels like a cheat0 -
Of course!
Everyone has a 5/5/x CMags and fully covered Patch!
This is so brilliant!

The 2 red missions (require Cap) were 85-90 for me when I started playing 2 hours ago. I finished them with 3* Cap/Patch/OBW without too much trouble except 1 match where I didn't notice a CD that almost wiped out my team. In the missions that didn't need Cap (levels 200-230) I replaced Patch with Punisher to benefit from his red and added Ares in the team for some quick damage. I like Patch but if a CD triggers you take a ton of damage. OBW is awesome since she can buy you time and she is boosted here so her health is decent.
I think Venezuela Showdown is one of the easiest 230 missions. The Pyro and the Grenadier need too much green AP and the only threat from the Don is his black CD. Take those out and you are in no danger at all. If my C. Magneto and Hood were higher level I would definitely try them in the team.0 -

I don't care about being in the lead. Sure, it'd be nice to be able to get some rewards, but at the end of the day I'd like to be able to play these events without feeling like I need to use level 141 maxed out rare characters to have a chance.
Yes, you can sometimes deal with high-level goons as they don't damage you directly, but unless the board is being cooperative and letting you take out the countdown tiles regularly, all it takes is one Flamethrower or a couple of Pistols to wipe out your team. My guys just can't absorb that much damage while chipping away at their health.0 -
I actually ran a troll team this morning against a 230 Venezuela team. 53 Cap (old one with 5 red and 5 blue) and lvl 30 CMag and I think lvl 30 BP.
And I killed the whole enemy team with cap's countdowns. VERY SLOWLY, but it was laughable.
DId not use boosts.0 -

That's what I'd like to know. It's not fair that my difficulty curve is seemingly based entirely upon the actions of other people, many of whom have far more better and higher-leveled characters than me. So community scaling is necessary to stop people abusing rubberbanding? Well, if it's leading to situations like this - where casual players can't get a look in on any of the prizes, even progression rewards, because the hardcore folks have bumped all the nodes up to level 230 - then might I suggest that the devs re-evaluate their PVE balancing system?* A game that's catered solely towards the elite is not a fun game to play; people feel "locked out" and frustrated.
(*) or better yet, cut the leaderboard aspects from PVE entirely
Actually, the scaling is different for different people so not everyone will run into the wall of 230. Yes, it will be harder than what it should be if people hadn't ground the nodes. Also, if you go in early when the next set of nodes appear, you'd get the benefit of rubberbanding and easy nodes so it is still possible to get the progression rewards.
Another point to note is that those who grind to 1 will have increased their personal scaling as well so if they keep doing that, they'd have an extremely hard map by the time the event is drawing to an end whilst you'd still have insignificant personal scaling with the added benefit of rubberbanding which could catapult you into the lead.
True, if you time it to get the benefit of rubberbanding you can still be somewhat competitive, but that's no help to the thousands of casual players or players who work/go to school/have other commitments and if these people dont use the forums then they have no idea about scaling/rubberbanding or timing anyway.0 -
Are there no sub brackets?0

For all goon squads I use 2* Thor, Modern Storm and OBW. I can get board control and then just rotate Thor's Yellow, Storms Green and Widow's Steal (also Storm's red for cascades).
Just in case I also have Widow's blue to bump up goon timers.
This takes longer than fighting with heavier hitting characters, but you won't lose. Especially if you start with a green/red boost0 -

I use Cstorm/MNMag and some other, maybe the hood. MNmag is specially useful to destroy CD alligning 4 blue tiles destroying an entire row or creating a critical to match a CD, creating blue to power up Cstorm0 -

Havent fully covered Patch either but Pun/Hood/CMags is still doing exactly what I need it to0 -
My go to team the first time this event was run was modern storm, cap and classic hawkeye and you could retreat with out a penalty. It seems so long ago.0

I must say, who is that dashingly handsome alliance currently holding first place?
Now, to somehow hold on to that for 5 and a half more days.0 -
Yep, this tournament quickly turned into a simple question 'can you beat maxed out goon teams?'
Lacking CMags and some hood, the cheap way to do this is 5 red **** shieldbro, MN magneto with at least 3 purple, and OBW with some blue. Magneto wipes rows and makes sure OBW never runs out of blue. Shieldbro becomes your poor man's CMags. The problem is that you do almost no damage with this arrangement, as your best attacks are going to deal 1000 at best, so an 8000 hp maggia don is going to take forever to beat.
But hey, at least it's a team you can assemble with 2*s, and the only cover that has to be at 5 is one that is handed out like candy.0 -

My team used to be Hulk, Patch, and OBW at the start. Then patch gained a level and covered hulk tiles. So now patch is my tank, OBW steals and covers the other 3 colors, and C storm never pops out, while getting fed the blue.
This team drinks the tears of its enemies in this event.0 -
I really hate the mechanics of this game.
I stop playing last night before bed, seeing bad guys around level 100.
Wake up this morning, bad guys in the same missions are at level 200+
****!?0 -
Yep i agree, havent complained about anything in this game for weeks so i'm allowed to have a moan The scaling is pretty bad. At this stage, one wrong move and your entire team could be wiped out or crippled at least. NOT.FUN.GAME.MECHANICS. I think a lot of people just dont have it in them after the 10 day sim event.0
-
If it wasn't for the Human Torch being the reward I'd be giving this a fairly wide berth. Poor Iso rewards and very few tokens means it's barely worth the hassle of trying to deal with the 230 mobs at every turn. Yes they're beatable, but it's not fun seeing your entire team wiped out due to a single mistake. The scaling is ridiculous compared to in the Simulator, and it's really not much fun.0

Rarre28 wrote:Are there no sub brackets?
Nope, just a main mission map. If it plays anything like the last time, there will be new missions appearing on that main map (the old ones disappear) roughly every day. So, no subs to worry about, but no sub rewards either. At least there is the initial ISO clear bonus!0 -
That awful pack in which there is a "greater chance for Mr Rogers Cap" is a effing joke.
75% chance to get 2* characters!? Who is going to waste 3800 hero point with no guarantee that you'll even get a 3* character?!?!?!?!?!?!?
They did this with Lazy Thor. It's pathetic. Offer at least one guaranteed featured character!!!!!!!!!0
