Unstable ISO-8 Rerun 4/1 - 4/7

  • I exclusively played the prologue for my first month and only stumbled into the first Unstable ISO-8 event by accident. I have no idea how it works. I timed my entrance so that I finished about 10 hours after the event started. IF the nodes are 12 hour refresh and reset at the 24 hour mark, then I should be set for this "round."

If not, who knows? No big deal now that we do not have to finish in the top 10 to get all three covers.

Why is Venezuela showdown the most valuable node on my map, when Juggernaut & Venom are more dangerous? Sure, they are lvl 230 Pyro, Grenadier and Don, but still, they are just goons.

So, the amount of nodes on the world map are it for this event? You just keep grinding those for a week?

    How incredibly dull.

IIRC last time it came around, there were random ** cover rewards and (I wanna say Heroic tokens but I'm not sure) every refresh.
It made cap my first fully covered two star back in the day :/

I remember a couple heroic tokens. Not a lot, though.

I didn't have a Lazycap cover coming into this, and got one from that first gold token. Funnily enough, this also happened to me with Stormbeau. I did have a Seenoevil for the first PVE event with him but got another one from the first gold token that time. Same with Ninjaactiongirl.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but maybe it's Maybelline.

My wife bought the 10 pack to try for Cap

    8 storm
    1 OBW
    1 Thor

She got her first progression token
    Storm

The odds of pulling 8 storms is almost the same as pulling 7 3* covers by the odds they posted.

    OUCH

There is no way I would buy a 10-pack without the guaranteed 3-star I am hunting for. I really hate that change, even if on average you should still get at least one. The point of the 10-packs have always been that they're expensive but at least you avoid the random chance monster for one specific cover you are after (well, except for choosing the colour of that cover).

That is genuinely a mystery. In the Simulator, the required character nodes were the best nodes. Not the most fun, maybe, but the best for points. Venezuela is basically anything goes and yet I ground it down to 1 point. This is all kinds of weird and a few types of strange.

Agreed, not having at least one guaranteed character sucks...If I got my probabilities right,,the chance that you get all ** from that 10-Pack is around 10% which is much too high a risk for me to even consider trying it.

edit: scrap that, it's 6.5% ..but still way too high

I think I messed up that first set of nodes in all possible ways.
So for once I think I'm glad that the first couple of days won't matter at all because there will be a lot bigger points in the final two days.
Going to make my second run through 23 hours in and hope for a new set of nodes after an hour.
Then we'll know what to do.

If high point nodes without lazy cap stay goons-only this'll be extremely easy to rubberband, otherwise community scaling will be locking out a lot of people.
    Win-win in both cases icon_e_wink.gif

The pop-up says "New missions appear every day!"

Do they overwrite the old missions or do they "appear"?
  • Something weird happened over night; my levels actually dropped.
Yesterday I was facing 230 in most goon nodes and Jugg/Venom were 210. I won every fight regardless, but now, only Venezuela is still 230, while the other goons have dropped to 150. Jugg/Venom even dropped to 90.

I'm not complaining, I'm just legitimately surprised, since I haven't seen such a drop in a long time and levels seem to be increasing for everyone else.

    Historically, the old missions disappear.
  • Community scaling seems pretty harsh, some nodes jumped from 150 to 230 over night for me.

I just got around to doing the missions, but that's about what I saw. Last three goon missions all 230, jugg and venom ~89

Like the 2nd time it ran, it had purple spidey covers. Twice. I missed it both times icon_cry.gif

I don't find games like this worth the value to purchase anything, but I would.t tell others to never spend as they let players like me play the game at all by putting money in the company's hands. That said, if I, for example, was asked by someone what pack to buy....well I would never buy something where I have no proof behind the ratios of earning something. The lottery has to give you real odds. I've seen games like this accidentally increase the odds for a few hours, very noticeable, but the reverse just gets ppl telling you "that's what random means and blah blah blah darkside." So yea, if its not 100%, I wouldnt recommend it. While I don't think the devs are liars, I also don't know the odds beyond what I am told with no legal ramifications behind the numbers given.

As for the event, is there an official refresh indicated somewhere? If so, could someone drop the info for me and anyone else trying to jump in after the first "equivalent to subs" since it sounds like there are no subs?

I don't remember the event format that well. I DO remember getting every single purple spidey available though...so I assume luck will be against me this event lol.

So 24 hour refresh o maybe it could be something like 26-28h like in the last events? We need a count down so we can maximize our score :S

Why am I being effectively locked out of this event from the get go? What could I have done differently??

That's what I'd like to know. It's not fair that my difficulty curve is seemingly based entirely upon the actions of other people, many of whom have far more better and higher-leveled characters than me. So community scaling is necessary to stop people abusing rubberbanding? Well, if it's leading to situations like this - where casual players can't get a look in on any of the prizes, even progression rewards, because the hardcore folks have bumped all the nodes up to level 230 - then might I suggest that the devs re-evaluate their PVE balancing system?* A game that's catered solely towards the elite is not a fun game to play; people feel "locked out" and frustrated.

(*) or better yet, cut the leaderboard aspects from PVE entirely

Actually, the scaling is different for different people so not everyone will run into the wall of 230. Yes, it will be harder than what it should be if people hadn't ground the nodes. Also, if you go in early when the next set of nodes appear, you'd get the benefit of rubberbanding and easy nodes so it is still possible to get the progression rewards.

Another point to note is that those who grind to 1 will have increased their personal scaling as well so if they keep doing that, they'd have an extremely hard map by the time the event is drawing to an end whilst you'd still have insignificant personal scaling with the added benefit of rubberbanding which could catapult you into the lead.
  • The best tactic I've found for dealing with Venezuela lv230 grunts is having lv85 Classic Storm in the team, letting flamethrower go off first and then watching them damage themselves for 10k+. Need to get a bit lucky though.

^ I ran the 0-damage troll mega AP team which is cStorm, MMN and the Hood. MMN generates blue, cStorm stuns and damages the enemy, throw in Magneto's red or Hood's black for extra damage and speed. Pistols or Lightning strike to take out stubborn CDs. The good thing is that Don generates blue which Hood also steals. That's a rainbow team so they can find use for any colour; between them they have amazing board control and infinite AP generation. I didn't come up with this comp first, but boy is it awesome against mooks.
