Sorry, to me middle of the table can be anywhere from like 5th to 15th. That said, I recognize Tottenham has been better than that quite often lately (and I actually am ashamed to say I didn't really follow at all the past two-three years, so I'm not entirely sure where they finished). Okay going to look it up now...

Spurs in the last few years have been 6th, 5th, 4th, 5th. I guess that's basically what I expected. Perhaps I should extend "top of table" to include all of the Europa Cup automatic berth teams, not just the CL teams. Anyway, my bad, I certainly did not mean to offend as I am certainly well aware that the Spurs have been part of the Premier League "elite" for many seasons now. I guess I mostly just meant to say I try not to be a frontrunner and pull for Chelsea, Man City, Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool (outside of my story of my friend icon_razz.gif). When I was following Premier League the most, back in like 2009-2011, I would say Tottenham was my favorite team. They were so fun to watch with Bale on the wing.

Anyway - hope the Chelsea bit wasn't offensive. I thought they were one of the more popular London teams, and didn't realize they had a rivalry thing with the Spurs. Perhaps thought there a little more of a rivalry with Liverpool than there actually is. Anyway, that's why I thought them at first (and forgot about the big Spurs/Arsenal rivalry). So - now I know! When does the new season start, I'll be sure to actually pay attention this year icon_e_smile.gif.

I've always enjoyed Tottenham, and not just the fine work of Gazza, but actually guys like Barmby and strangely enough Anderton. Sheringham was also a class act, but they never achieved greatness, and never got over the hump. And the Spurs fit your criteria with Friedel!

*Oh and I forgot Ginola, the poor man's Cantona icon_e_smile.gif

I didn't really take offence Mohio. Don't refer to them as "the spurs" though always just Spurs. icon_e_wink.gif

Chelsea v Spurs is a big rivalry they hate us almost as much as West Ham do. To us they are just a **** club with money. They were pretty much going bankrupt when Abramovich came in and saved them. My brother in law is actually a Chelsea fan, but he married my sister so he is not all bad.

I would say for many years there was a top 4, which was Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, with a gap from the rest, back then we really were mid table at best. Then Man City came into their billions, Liverpool faded and rose again this season and along with Spurs and Everton made up a clear top 6 this season. The real gap was 7th which I would consider to be the starting point for mid table sides and then the relegation battlers which can number from 5 to some times 10 depending on the season. The anti red thing is Liverpool, who were very successful in the 80s, and Man U, but mostly Arsenal obviously.

Noob you know your Spurs history there I am impressed. Never quite getting over the hump is the Spurs way.

First game is 16th August away to West Ham.

Hey, Chelski has billions too don't forget!
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

  • I am loving all this football (soccer to some) talk icon_e_smile.gif. I never realised the EPL had so much coverage in America! You guys really know a lot about the Premier League. It really puts my knowledge of NFL to shame. I did get into American Football around 2006 back when the Steelers won the Superbowl and have followed it quite a bit since.

I am a Chelsea fan and I have never really got the Chelsea Spurs rivalry either. Maybe that's because one of my closest friends is a big Spurs fan so I never thought of it as a rivalry growing up, maybe it's also because Spurs didn't beat Chelsea for 20 odd league games in a row so it is difficult to imagine a rivalry when it is all one sided icon_e_wink.gif . Hehe Only joking, I would say we have a much bigger rivalry with Liverpool especially since they beat us in something like 4 semi finals in a row.

This last season was a lot closer than the previous few especially between the top 7, so hopefully the next season will be even closer.

RAWSOME, can't wait to hear your take on it! Take your time though, while I loved the story from the start the happy feels really start to hit nearer the end of the Forever arc.. although there are some sad feels before that (I think around Vol. 4).

One lesson learned in the Hickman FF run: DON'T F&@^ WITH SUE STORM.

I am curious to see how this change to healing will play out. If it means actually playing less while still being able to achieve at least somewhat similar rewards then it might not be a bad thing. I think the effort against reward is pretty messed up for what should be a casual match 3 game, so if an unintended side effect of this cash grab is things are a bit more casual that could be good. The crazies will still do whatever needs to be done to win, but if everyone else has to rely more on their overall roster then having a decent roster should mean I can still be pretty competitive right? They could adjust character regen time, number of health packs and their regen time. It could all work out.

    a-chance.gif

I would bet D3 wished they had never implemented a character with a healing ability, but then they introduce another one in She-Hulk. All the characters that have been introduced that either self-harm or team harm combined with this change to healing its easy to see why it has been done. I think IceIX does a decent job putting the most positive spin possible on these changes, but can only do so much. One thing is for sure I will not purchase any health packs.

So I had a look at Marvel Alliance Tactics on FB and the first posts are all about how they have increased the energy regen timers.

What's that sound? Sounds like SHOTS FIRED!

I got so much real life stuff going on, MPQ has been relegated to noise in the background. That's the real problem that the devs have to address, the game is too competitive for the mobile casual market IMHO. If my teams ends up dying too quickly and I can't play, I'm not going to put a weaker one in to try, I'm just going got stop playing period. They're slowly weeding out players. As for it working out, much like anything else in this game, it's going to take MONTHS before anything happens. As a 2* player, OBW is totally my crutch when battling 141s. There will have to be major sharding changes ... I don't know, I don't have faith that this will turn out well.

Yeah F2P these days, is all about trading money for time and wins.

Hey folks...was debating coming back but after reading through the forums the last few days it seems the game has only continued it's downward slide. Worth it to start again?

Hello mate, hope everything is going well. There was a positive change the other day where top 5 now gets you 3 covers so with the alliance cover you could get 4, top 25 gets you 2 covers and progression rewards have improved (extra HP and event token). Then the change to healing was announced yesterday and I think it is fair to say it hasn't gone down well.

In limbo Dhaden. They actually made a tremendously player friendly move with the pvp rewards recently and upped them significantly. The ongoing debate is with regards to healing, and nobody know exactly how bad things will be with the healign nerf bat. Like Limee said it may be a good thing as perhaps it may skew people to slightly more casual. Try it out casual style icon_e_smile.gif Solo whales can get all rewards at the top end of the pvp scale.
    *Limee beat me to it!

Yeah, I'm kinda with you Limee, really hoping this just means less work/lower scores will be needed for top placement. I'm worried that instead it will just mean more shields. Anyway, I went ahead and tried out last night what I could do with 5 health packs and no OBW. So, after getting to about 300 or 400 using OBW I switched in LT/LC and was surprised how far I got before stopping. I was originally just playing for the iso mostly, thinking I would just stop and eventually get hit down, but at least I would have some good 3* in there and maybe deter some attacks. As you saw in game chat though I made it to 922 before basically fully wiping on my last match (Thor won all alone with like 3-4000 health left). I think I might've had one health pack left, so I could have switched teams and gone a little more, but I had been hit once for 40 points so I figured I would just shield since I was already pretty high.

Anyway, I'm somewhat hopeful that at least for me the change won't be awful. I'm pretty convinced though, that for some of you guys, and just about anyone in the 2* range, this is going to be a really bad change. Those 2* just can't finish games fast enough compared to 3* (well, the top tier 3*) and health pools are lower so that even match damage over a few games will put people in worrisome range.

As for the football/soccer talk - it has gotten more and more popular over here over the years. Back when I was following it in the 2007-2011 range I either had to pay more for a special soccer channel or I would just find games streaming online. Now major networks bid for premier league broadcasting rights and I wouldn't be too surprised if some of the other top European leagues followed suit in the next decade or so. Not only is it then easier to watch, but having those broadcasting rights means they actually do more than just show games, so you can see more analysis, etc. when you previously only saw anything about soccer/football when there was some ridiculous highlight or it was David Beckham icon_razz.gif.

So what has the coverage of this been like over there and what sort of punishment do you think he should get?

Played a bit last night and ended up breaking 700 in the PvP quite easily with my low level Storm + Daken and Thor as well as grabbing top 30ish in the PvE. I'll probably keep playing here and there but likely not more than a single session 1-2 hours a day (rather then roughly every ~12 hours like before). I'm also going to strive for slow and steady progression rather than furiously trying to stay top 10 competitive in every single event. I.e., missing the end of events because I'm sleeping or out with friends is perfectly fine.

Being able to get all three covers without a competitive alliance is also a very nice change. I joined a public 20 person alliance (top 500 or so haha) but I will probably stay out of the chat for the most part. Send me a message if you guys ever have a spot open up and would like to recruit a casual solo whale like me icon_e_biggrin.gif

In other news, being a homeowner is great. Other than a dishwasher problem the first time we used it, everything is in working order. We even hired a couple high school students to cut our lawn this summer so we can focus on other things during the weekend (like unpacking 70,000 boxes of ****). Once we finish repainting the office and adding a desk for my wife we're going to stick a big screen TV on the wall so we can both game/do work and watch movies and TV together. Also, apparently living room furniture is constructed out of gold. I can think of no other reason for it to cost so much!

    Much love! Go USA!

Honestly considering it's his 3rd offence, he should be banned for life.

We needs to make this happen! Whereabouts were you at again Dhaden? In my old age I don't remember details so well anymore.

I concur, although in reality banning him for 2-3 years might do the trick (let me check...nevermind, only 27 thought he was closer to 30). As for the coverage, I only saw about it on ESPN.com last night, so I haven't really read much about it. Will see what they have to say after this set of games though.

I'd be surprised if the change this morning doesn't drive at least one person to quit. Not that anyone's said anything here or in game chat, but it seems like an inevitable conclusion for some people at least.

Well the true healing changes have gone live. It's amazing how much quicker some changes can made than others. I think all we can do is see what sort of effect this has over the next couple of tournaments. The next PVP awarding Daredevil is probably a good thing.
