As I type this we're 93rd with about 1:45 left. Been slowly climbing the ranks, but where we are the alliances are really PACKED, so we might bounce around a lot before the end. In any event you guys are awesome and keep up the good (and hard!) work. Outside of a bunch of alliances swapping last minute I think we've got a great shot.

And now that I'm about to hit send we go up another spot to 92nd .

Absolutely fantastic effort there at the end to make sure we ended up with the blue Nick Fury cover. We lost Dhaden who decided to quit the game and Corrosar and Squall13 who were removed from the alliance during the course of Season 2. They were replaced by Sapphire, CeeEssGee and Neodyminium. Communication could still be improved in terms of keeping everyone informed when you are not going to be around for a specific tournament. I have nearly everyone's reply back and Season 3 has started immediately so I am hoping we can sort things out this week in terms of how we want to proceed.

Well it was touch and go for a little bit there gents, I honestly was a little worried till about the last hour or so when everyone made their final pushes. The change happened approximately when mohio left for dinner

I saw us climb a few spots before leaving so I wasn't too worried, but 75th is awesome! Great job guys. I'm looking forward to leveling a few more guys (patch is maxed and mags at 12 covers) and hopefully bringing some variety to my play. Should keep me interested for another 27 days at least .

Limee thanks for doing the PM thing and collecting everyone's responses. Really hope it leads to a little better communication, even if it's not degenerate chatting like me and noob and afroless seem to do . Even just like "I really want these covers" or "oh man, don't need these at all, is it cool if I quit at 500" would go a long way to making people feel like we're really doing this together and not just a collection of really awesome people .

Was looking at the standings and it was 2.7K points to 100th so that late push was really a difference maker. Here's to a good season 3!
And if we did have a sister alliance ... would we call it YStatiY ?

Has anyone read the XStatiX comic?

The X-Statix team is made of mutants who complete dangerous missions that are broadcast to viewers on PPV. They spend their downtime like rock stars knowing that their next mission could be their last.

Absolutely sir, it was why I looked this way when looking to join an alliance in the first place - that was one of my favorite runs on any X-book! Highly recommend the Omnibus if you've got the cash - looks like Amazon has some New copies for as little as $43 (far less than I paid for it)! Plus, how can anyone refuse the abject awesomeness that is DOOP??

OH man, if those two names are your wheelhouse you're going to love it... it's relatively unlike anything I've read before and I've been a reader since childhood and a weekly comic buyer since 1995. I miss that book...

No go at the library. I'll add it to the list to check out at the various places that I hit. Apparently I've only really read most of Milligan's pre-2k stuff. He's more run of the mill for me (90s work) in that he tries, but simply can't hit the highs of the other M&Ms (Moore and Morrison).

Man all of this means roughly nothing to me. I read a lot of comics (mostly X-men and Spider-Man variants, plus Silver Surfer) for a few years back in the early 90's (91-94 or so) but haven't really caught much of what's been going on since then. I've got a near complete collection of the marvel collecting cards set 1, and I think a full set of set 2. Used to love reading through all the cards and the little blurbs on the back. There are quite a few secondary and tertiary characters in the marvel universe that are still interesting in their own right. Might have to bust out my binders to take a look at them again soon .

I hadn't heard of XStatix and only looked it up the other day as I wondered what the origin of the name might be and it certainly seemed like something different.

Days of Future Past was a good film.

There seem to be a lot more players looking for alliances over the last few days. I don't know if it is an influx of new players or old alliances breaking up. So keep your scores and chat up or I will replace you all.

I had a buddy give me a set of something like that. Pretty sure the only thing they are collecting now is dust in the garage
The Marvel universe is so big, and to be honest I'm not that big of a fan in terms of their storytelling. They just seem to like mega-big events (Civil War! Secret Invasion! Annihilation!). I generally don't keep up to date (~3-5 year lag), I think the last 2 story lines I enjoyed were Winter Soldier and Planet Hulk. But if anything they have done a very good job with their movie division compared to DC.

okay, you got me - I laughed. Maybe next time I'm "home" (you know, where I grew up) I'll check to see what some of the storylines were. I remember really liking one or two of them and checking back at the drug store/grocery store every couple days to see if there was a new installment. Not sure why they spread them out over different titles, but I guess it got you reading different things sometimes.
