ScarFighters - Let's rock !

It's not too long ago that I played with 2* only. My favorite team in the "higher" ends of pvp was 2*Thor + OBW - both are 2* beasts. OBW also is amazing in pve against goons, so if you get enough covers for her (I saw that right now you have 7 covers), I would max her first, since your Thor, Wolvie and Ares are already high level.
But that is just my preference. Wolverine + Daken are also a strong combo (I used them to climb in pvp) and they let you play for extended periods because of their truehealing.
Thor or Wolverine can also be replaced by Ares (scary on defense).
Likewise CStorm + MNMags are strong on offense (MNMags purple into CStorm blue) but are not really scary on defense in pvp but rock in pve fights.
MNMags + mHawkeye fulfill about the same function (MNMags purple into mHawkeye passive + enough blue for mHawkeye blue) but have the same weakness.
So if you are looking for strong characters on their own, I would go for OBW, 2*Thor, Ares, Daken and 2*Wolvie (use OBW or Daken + Thor or Wolvie or Ares for color diversity). If you like fun combos, pick the one you like the most0 -
ORyan25 wrote:Advice Please:
I am working towards maxing a few characters ( ) and I have a few that are close. I was curious on whether or not I should put all iso into one at a time or spread it evenly between a couple of them? I have 21k iso which is enough iso to max one of the 80's to 94.
I have:
2 Thor at level 80 (Fully covered)
2 Daken at level 80 (Fully covered)
2 Wolverine at level 80 (Fully covered)
2 Ares at level 70 (Need 2)
2 Johnny at level 62 (Fully covered)
2 Storm at level 60 (Fully covered)
2 Ms. Marvel at level 60 (Need 2)
2 Hawkeye at level 50 (Fully covered)
2 Magneto at level 40 (Need 1)
Thanks for any advice you might have.
Johnny and Ms Marvel are also very interesting. Johnny has a very powererful red for 2* and an active black. Ms Marvel can let you bring along a strong TU and has an active black. No other 2* have active black.
The reality is you want a lot of max 2* to mix and match since only Daken has true healing in game. You want to be able to swap players in and out. Think about it this way. If you have 4 teams you can rotate them in and out without using health packs. This makes PVE, and PVP a lot easier. You could also just drop a couple hundred dollars into the game and buy a bunch of 3* covers and put all your iso there, but I don't think that is the wise choice. Faster, but not wise.0 -
@fae. I don't really destroy my own cd tiles as normally I use lazy cap with cd. I always somehow end up destroying my punisher red cd tile (from molotov).
By choosing the end time that is convenient in Asia.. The selection of high pointers decreased. But that's the trade off. But this seems to be worse for PVE now as rubber banding doesn't kick in at all.. Or maybe this is first iteration of the PVE time slices. I hope they improve on it.
@Ryan. I used to run with thor and wolvie 2*.ares for occasional swap. I think other than that storm is quite decent.0 -
Hi ScarFighters.
I would like just to acknowledge our commander.. Danikalil.
As you know.. There are 4 commanders left. But I like to highlight danikalil's contribution.
Danikalil has done a lot to help the alliance. In particular, in the last two PVE danikalil tried very hard to ensure that we get thor PVE award. Even though that didn't work, but she really tried her best.
In the last PvE.. She got a merc to come in so the alliance can get gamora.. It was really a close fight till the last moment.. But she worked out a deal that made the alliance earned the gamora cover.
I'm not sure whether you've tried getting replacement or mercenary.. It's not an easy task. You need to contact the person.. Negotiate and then accept the person.
Moreover, English is not her first language.
So I just want to thank danikalil for her hardwork.
Good job Dani and Jan!
And for the rest of the team.
Thank you for being a good alliance members. Really enjoyed how we worked together this season.
Let's close off this season and have a better fight in our next season!0 -
Hey everyone, thank you for the great Season! Everyone chipped in, and we did just fine. Let's just improve our PvE scores for the next one, and keep on kicking **s!

Greetings Mortal Champions . . . . yes, we are Champions!
I'm getting over the flu. I pretty much slept through the entirety of last week. Of course, now both girls have it so I'm alone in the office. I'm slowly going mad this week.
My favorite 2 character is Moonstone. Her red can do a heap of damage and her pink is very useful both for damage and some board manipulation. Plus her red makes a really cool pew,pew sound. I've never liked Ares but I love Wolverine. His green is fast, steady damage and his red is killer.
I'm really liking the combo of Blade, Falcon and Spidey. Of course, if you lose Blade, it is a long, slow win but never underestimate Spidey's capacity to outlast the enemy. I'm getting the new 3 up to level 100 but mostly right now I'm concentrating on Nick Fury. I have a nice repetoire of 3 to play with and he fills the purple/blue slot that is often needed with my favorite combos.
We are loving our new apartment. There is still much unpacking to do but that will happen. At some point, we will obtain a Christmas tree. We have agreed that we want a small, living tree that will live on one of the patios after the holidays. Our only real holiday tradition is that we keep everything easy and relaxed. Every year I get a new family game and movie for us to enjoy on Christmas day. We fix our favorite nosh foods and just have fun.
It's lunch time here which means time to stretch out on my office couch and play some MPQ. The season break is always fun.0 -

I think you might still have the flu with your choice of Moonstone. I tried so much to make her a playable character for me back in the day, especially since she had an active purple ability. My defensive teams would just get crushed. My favorite 2* was Ares. I would run him with OBW and loved building up 30 green to 1 shot 3* Becuase this was before true healing I had 0 fear of his yellow and it did massive damage. Wolvie was my first damage dealing 2* and he was very solid, but I eventually replaced him with Thor who was then replaced by Ares. I spent a long time in 2* land and the only 2* I did not max was bullseye.
My favorite 3* team right now is Patch DareDevil. I maxed DD out and throw down BR and then DD purple. DD is now really fun to play. My next 3* goal is to take Deadpool and Captain Marvel to level 140 which should take about 100k ISO. I really need 2 more Deadpool Purples.
I am glad you are enjoying the new apartment and as a holliday treat I recomend breaking up a small candycane and placing it in the bottom of your morning Coffee. Instant Holiday Coffee and a little MPQ is a good way to start the weekend. If you don't drink Coffee then Hot Chocolate would work too.0 -

I'm spoiled. My company makes flavored sugars and cocoas. I have mint sugar in my tea most days but my favorite cocoa is the orange cocoa. I'm currently developing a line of light flavored sugars that mix splenda with sugar. I don't want to give up the yumminess of sugar in my tea but when winter comes I like more than one cup a day so this is my solution. Plus, it gives us a new product line. I don't drink coffee but I love coffee flavored beverages. When we moved, Mystwalker bought me an espresso machine so I can make lattes and mochas anytime I want. I love caramel lattes. He also gave me an electric tea kettle and an ice crusher. I am well beveraged when I am at home.
We went to see The Hobbit marathon yesterday. Very enjoyable day with Mystwalker. Really enjoyed the movies - though there were definitely some echoes from LOTR but that's to be expected with the same creative team.
I am always happy with a She-Hulk event. She is a favorite of mine. I like to play her with Hulk and Daken. I just love all that smashing.0 -
My fav 2* was thor and wolvie, then the thorverine nerf came, and i sold my fully built 2* thor, started building the 3* thor. now my 2* thor is at level 40.
mStorm was a favorite and before the nerf she was awesome.
I am not impressed with the latest 2*: little torch and cap marv, i wish they create new characters, if they can have bagman, why not other characters ?
anyway. i'm impressed with what they've done with the Hobbit series. have you read the book? it's not much! lord of the ring trilogy is a trilogy.. that makes sense to be made into a 3-part movie.. but the Hobbit is a short book.. thumbs up to the scriptwriters
excellent visual effects too.
I am considering levelling up she hulk.. but kept getting distracted.. now I want to level my colossus too.0 -

I used to have a espresso machine MMMMMM lattes I retiered since I only used it on weekends and I got tiered of cleaning it up. A couple summers ago MW18 and I made ice coffee. Highly recomend it. A pot of coffee mixed with a lot of sugar cooled to perfection, placed over ice with milk. MMMMM
MW18 and I got an electric kettel this winter and it is awsome!! MW18 is big on tea in the winter, you know when it is below 0 it is time for a warm drink.
I have watched the first 2 Hobbit movies but have been kind of meh. I have prefered the Hunger Games movies and books better. We are planning on going to see Into the Woods on Xmas day with the family and that should be a lot of fun.
Uni I would highly recomend She-Hulk. Her red is awsome and you can pair her with X-force if there is a big red user. Black turns into red, which cascades for more black and green.0 -
Hello scarfighters.
As I mentioned in the game chat.. I'll be taking a step back from the game to a more casual mode.
It has been a really fun journey with this Alliance.
It was good ride.
Thanks for all the fun.
Special mention to the original members of the alliance.. Fae and myst, catnip, khal, and the most supreme commander danikalil.
Who knows maybe you'll see me as merc for some PVE if it's an interesting character.
Till we meet again.0 -
Greetings Mortals !!!
Uni - I will miss you. Please pop in occasionally to say 'hi'.
I've missed all of you recently. I have had one illness after another for the last month. I have a food allergy and I think I must have accidentally eaten a forbidden food. The typical result of that is that my immune system totally crashes. I've seriously improved over the last few days and was actually able to concentrate enough last night to play MPQ for more than three matches at a time.
Alliance question - what would you think of forming a second alliance for casual players that were willing to substitute in events. When one of us needs downtime we could arrange a swap. I think it is worth considering.
As to the current PVE, I will be able to put some serious time in. I have Wed and Thurs off work and we swapped Friday to Sunday so everyone gets a four day Christmas break. I plan on watching a lot of movies, reading, and MPQ. We keep a very relaxed Christmas - from the many years of running a retail business that left us exhausted by the time Christmas day actually arrived. I'll pop a rib roast in the rotisserie and mash a big pot of potatoes (with the ingredients that my family refuses to acknowledge). Mystwalker and I rarely give each other Christmas gifts. Usually we just go on Amazon and pick out stuff we want for the house. That suits both of us.
I hope everyone has the holiday they want and need. I know this alliance spans many countries and I'd love to hear about your holiday traditions.0 -

I really like this idea. A no pressure alliance that does as well as they want, but if someone decides to go all out on an event, they get called up to the main roster. Liken it to sports - a minor league team where a player can be brought up to the big leagues...
I like this idea for 2 reasons:
1) It will give us a chance to reconnect with some who left and are still alliance-less, as well as get to know more people and bring them into our quirky band of misfits
2) Hopefully it will push those under-performing in our group to try a bit harder to keep from being overtaken - or feel less pressure knowing they can allow someone else to "borrow" their spot on an event they cannot play much....I know there are events where I only push as hard as I do for the alliance, but have no need for the covers awarded. I'd gladly give my spot to someone who needs the covers (this is mostly PVP for me personally)...as long as I had assurances that I get my spot back.....0 -
Well now that I have some extra time to put into MPQ, I can't connect to the servers. Thankfully, I'm shielded for the end of the Deadpool PvP, but I was really hoping to build some points in PVE. I'll keep on trying to get into the game, but we'll have to see what happens.0

Hello scarfighters! How are you doing? Hope your Christmas was Merry and your celebration was glorious.
@Fae. Glad that you're doing much better. Hope you're back to 100% to greet the new year.
There's not much holiday tradition for my family. Simple dinner at home for Christmas eve, Church service in the Christmas morning. Kids are too young to have a tree.. So we're planning to get the tree up next year.
@Fae and @Wym. I like the idea of retired member alliance. However. I think it should be a congregation of people from more than one alliance. We won't have enough mass to make up second alliance. One obstacle that scarfighters may have right now is real time chat that can be used to contact members if he/she is out of Alliance. That's essential for recalling team members to join back. Can our Facebook group chat do that? I'm not too sure.. Maybe we should check it out.
Anyway, I was in Lazy league alliance .. A bunch of great vets from thunderkittens. Then I found myself having more time than I expected during the holidays and got some points to share for Alliance cover. So I was doing merc at one alliance and now another has kindly hosted me..0 -
Greetings Mortals and Happy Week In-Between Holidays
I think the second ScarFighters alliance should first invite retired ScarFighters but then open it up to others.
I was first in my bracket in the most recent PVE. I really like the survivor modes. It made it a lot more interesting. I usually get bored in the PVEs. This week at work is beyond tedium. Not only is it year end but both Avari and Aramina are home sick. I'm sure they caught it from me but it means I'm alone in the office this week without my assistant (Avari) or my operations manager (Aramina). Then I get to go home to two sick daughters who try to burrow into me the moment I walk in the door. So today, I'm completing a task then playing a node - rinse and repeat. I'm hoping that alternating will keep me sane enough not to commit any felonies.
How was everyone's Christmas? We started with Iron Man on Christmas Eve and ended with Guardians of the Galaxy the day after Christmas. It was fun and relaxed. Now I just have to figure out New Year's Eve. Usually we play games but with the girls sick I don't think they will be up to it. I'm thinking an X-Men marathon.0 -
@Fae. Hope you had a great movie marathon over the new year.
To the rest of scarfighters..
Happy new year! And..
Congratulations on finishing top 50 for this season.. And that's with relaxed period during Christmas (according to wymtime) ..
You guys and gals rock! Except rob. He's awesome.. Last I saw he's rocking it big time in PVE.0 -
Shield cooldown makes me not want to play PVP anymore. It's frustrating knowing that my roster won't get any better than it is because I can never get either to 1300, or to 1st place, and the only way you get better anymore is with 4* characters. My roster is decent, but not good enough to compete with 270 teams.....and I'm willing to spend on shields, but not as much as some who are willing to go every 3 hours and use the 75-150-300HP rotation.
I just feel neutered and defeated immediately as I start playing......0 -

Dragon it is actually not that bad. I have been able to get top 5 with 1-2 shields which is helping build more 3*, and I stay HP positive. For me 4* will end up to be HP purchases becuase it is just brutal to try and win an event. They will eventually make it easier to win 4*, but for now you should look to take advantage and build up your 3* roster. After this season they might lower progressions which would really help as well. If the progression got down to 1000 or even 1100 I would probably spend a little more HP in a hop to get there.0 -
Wow - it's been over a month since anyone's posted in here....crazy....
Anyway, with "The Hunt" PVE upon us, with Prof X as the very limited prize, I thought I'd give some thoughts on how I play PVE...
NOTE - this is how I did the math, and also based on my roster...
With 36 hour subs, there are 5 optimal play-times:
- The first when it opens
- 3 more full refreshes in-between
- the final refresh/grind
24 hour subs are more limited:
- Again, the first run when it opens
- 2 full refreshes in-between
- The final grind approx 2 hours before the end (this will not be a full refresh, but the loss of points is not that great)
Alaska only has 9 repeatable nodes, but Clever Girl II, Clever Girl III, and Let's Dance will scale rapidly - be prepared.
Florida is brutal. The first run through is 17 nodes (8 1-timers). The scaling in here is pretty brutal as well, and Rags/Ares reigns supreme - you may want to employ the Winfinite strategy (MNMags/Mystique + boost / )
Savage Land is back similar to Alaska, but with more Rags. (These are going to really suck when he gets his 3rd ability ) The official thread for the hunt says it's a 24 hour node.
Oh, and they all overlap - so there's that.....
Basically, even with 8 hour refreshes, this event is more of a grind than usual. I'm planning on using a lot of Patch/Daken/Loki when possible. The powered up characters kind of work pretty well together, so Cage/GSBW/Grocket for the essentials.
I'll let you know if I'm getting any sleep....hahaha...a haha.....haaaa....ummmmm....yeah.....0
