I'm on 300 points too, will make a final push tomorrow and we should all get the black cover.
I've been thinking about Hulk, he has an inherent flaw. His black passive skill works great when he has low health because he's constantly being damaged for 5% of his health and therefore activating the skill. But to keep him out front you need to level him up lots so his tile damage is higher than your other characters. But that raises his health and means rarely takes more than 5% health except when hit with special skills. I'm not sure he's going to be that great, what do you guys think?0 -
I've been contemplating selling my 2 star cap am for iso now that I have the 3 star version...not that the 2 star was ever real useful. Anyone have any thoughts? The only reason I'm holding off is that he may b required for future simulation matches but idk. Could use some input.0

Also, when fighting high level 3 star opponents most tile matches will trigger this effect just because their match damage is so high0

dreadlington wrote:Hey Dr, can you please explain your tactics for winning one game with strong team then swapping to a weaker team?
We have to get in top 100 alliance for the new event so we can get Hulk black cover!
I cycled opponents until I had one very beatable opponent (right at the start of the event) then won 2-3 'normal level' fights until I had around 60-80pts before winning the 'easy' match with my weakest possible team needed to win.
That gave me enough points to be worth fighting for opponents, while making me a very targetable opponent (due to the weak team win at the end) so I attracted a lot of unsuccessful defences in the first day or so. This, I assume, dropped my MMR without costing me too many points as my low total still only meant a few points lost per defeat.
With just over a day to go, I get back into the tournament using my proper team and seemed to be getting a lot of opponents 30-40 levels below my top team which I was able to spank easily to get back into the top 5 fairly quickly before shielding for the final part.
Overall, I'm not sure if the tanking strategy worked well in the events I was tanking in, or carried over more to the next ones, but I'm still ranking top 5 or 10 in PvP events (just starting my 'attack' in Fearless Defenders -now ranked 4) with relative ease.
Looks like we're consistently finishing around 50th rank at the moment, which is great from a covers perspective and only 1000 ISO-8 and 50 HP away from the prize for finishing 2nd.0 -
Not bad, Doc. How many points did you start with today before you began your proper attack. I tried tanking right away but didn't wait that long before pulling out the big guns. I'm in 9 nth right now with around 550. I found that after tanking to a weak player at around 200 did get me some weak challengers but mostly I just crushed the weak teams that retaliated against me from my weak run. At this point however I'm not shielded and really haven't had to answer more than a few challengers. I assume this is because other teams don't want to lose points to me at this point0

This all makes sense now. I didn't fully understand what the MMR was but now I get it and have read up on it. This is going to really help.0 -

I try to keep around 300ish otherwise the last day is a bit too tricky with all the other people attacking. I pushed it up to 720 points this morning then put on an 8hr shield that expires at the end of the event (5 mins left) with the intention of getting in a couple more wins in the final couple of minutes using some boosts (usually a pink/blue boost for my Storm/Mag AOE combo, and crit boost because you just get tonnes of those).
Currently in 7th place so not safely in top 10 but only 15 points out of the top 3 as it stands.0 -
Nice man yea I got up around 750 and broke down and bought some points to shield up. #5 in my bracket but 1,2 and 3 are closer to 900. Just gotta wait and see. Good luck0

F*** yes, I just came in the top 10, so I got the Hulk red and green covers. That's the best I've done in one of these so I'm really pleased.
Can I get thoughts from you guys please? My team is lvl 62 2* Wolvy, lvl 53 2* OBW, and lvl 50 1* Storm. I need to replace Storm with someone but I'm not sure I have someone better. My options are... 3/3/2 Classic Storm that I can level up to lvl 45, or 2/1/3 Hulk that I can get to lvl 53. Are either of those worth swapping her out with or do I need more covers?0 -
Nice job securing the Black Hulk cover guys. I must admit to falling very short in that tournament, was directing efforts elsewhere.0
-
My advice is to keep 2* storm and hulk. As you progress one star characters will become obsolete. As always if you can, keep all your characters and open up a new slot. If you can't open a new slot, drop the 2 star storm and keep pumping up your hulk. Classic storm is the only one star character I could justify keeping but I have 3 open slots and I keep selling her for iso. You will get more 2 star storms. It really comes down to who you feel will benefit your roster the most, right now, so u can keep accruing wins0

Btw, I finished top ten as well and got all 3 hulk covers (thank you team) and am stoked! Good job everyone!0
-
Just remembered the reason I came on to check the thread though.
Everyone is focused on getting the human torch! If you have a decent wolverine you can score some pretty easy points in the best there is tournament. Hit it hard if you can!0 -
Thanks Dub, right now though are either of those characters better than lvl 50 1* storm?0

If the options are between 1* Storm at 50, 3/2/2 C-Storm at 45 or 2/1/3 Hulk at 53 I'd probably say 1* Storm.
Hulk is at his best when he is soaking damage. But with Wolverine at a higher level and OBW at 53, I'd imagine the only color he 'might' have open would be Black (which as a smaller side note, means no Espionage for OBW if you have it), but I'm not sure on the scaling (I think 2* > 3** at low/mid levels as far as match strength?). If he has only one match (or worse, none) you won't be able to take advantage of Anger as much as you'd like (or at all, outside of weird circumstances with stuns/AoE). I'd also say in general that his Green/Red could be seen as 'weaker' than 2* Wolv, at least at these levels. Any utility from Green's tile destruction is sort of a moot point because you'd have 1* Storm's green instead.
As for C-Storm is really depends on how you feel you're spending your AP. Do you find yourself using Storm's Green/Red at all, or are you just using Wolverine's moves? Are you surviving off OBW heals? The decision essentially would boil down to do you find Hailstorm more useful (something to use your Black AP on) than having another option for Blue, and every so often some sort of benefit from Tempest. I'd imagine that like 1* Storm, 2* for the time being is below your other characters as far as tile matching, so you can let others tank / take advantage of Espionage.
If you find yourself using 1* Storm's Green, it's important to note that 2* Storm's will be worse for the time being (and plenty of times even if Green was 5).
So I think for the time being, until you get some more covers for those characters, or just in general, 1* Storm may be your best option.0 -
Thanks Xios,
I'm mainly using Wolverine's powers for green and red, sometimes useful to use Storm's red if I'm low on that colour, and using her black when I have it. OBW is great for healing and stealing. I didn't realise it had to be her making the match for it to steal, so if Hulk matches black, blue or purple then that would suck.
I'm really dissapointed with 2* Storm, I thought she'd be an improvement on 1* Storm but I don't like her on the whole. I'll stick with 1* for now, but I'm not even sure Hulk is the right swap even if I get more covers. Hmmm, don't know who to use...0 -
dreadlington wrote:Hmmm, don't know who to use...
2* Storm in general is in a weird position, her Blue can be very powerful if you can get it off at a good time, but her Green is generally weaker than 1* Storm's, and her Yellow has been nerfed (before my time) so that it's more of a nuisance than a real threat. As for Hulk, 3** require a lot of dedication to be better than your 2**, so don't let my earlier post confuse you. Hulk is strong, just not before he exceeds someone like Wolverine (or whoever your 2* 'main' guy is) in levels, which requires a lot of ISO (and covers).
Also, I really feel the need to share this with you guys. I'm doing Best There Is and I've been using Bullseye (I have a soft spot for the underdog, try not to think less of me)
And something amazing happened.. I finally got the elusive Bullseye. Was it necesary? No. Was it still funny? Oh yes.Take that GSBW.

That's awesome with the critical kills. The only time I did that was when I needed to tank. I used 1* hawk eye and my low bullseye to do like 400 damage critical black lol. It's a lot easier to pull off. They should introduce more characters who can generate crit tiles.
As for the current events, I've placed well so far considering my work schedule. I was third in my bracket for the PVE. I really enjoy the new Cap and he'll probably be my first maxed 3*. He's at 1/3/3 but feels fun compared to his 2* version.
I'm sitting at 11th for the wolverine. I tanked enough this time so I'll make up for sitting out on hulk covers.
You guys have been great to play as a group. I can't wait to chat up with some of you since chat is coming. I'm siting at work unable to play on my iPad because I have 111 days on my steam account and they won't let me transfer to iCloud. Sigh.0 -
