The fact that we're looking at a SS of level 500 Muscle isn't very comforting0

Fighting level 500 nodes are not only stupid, it's a waste of time.
Players WILL grind 1 pts for placement and this WILL ensure that pve will now be a 24/7 affair.
I've only recent came back to the game and have not played groot test pve but based on the last enemy of state test pve, I can only conclude that the changes WILL have the unintended result of making play time even longer and more frustrating to both new players and old.
Anyway, I feel that I have spent way too much time and $$ on this game after I return and This change is going to remove both problem for me.
Good job D3 in being consistent in trying to kill a game that worked.0 -

Wait.
You tweaked the stats of a given level instead of tweaking the level themselves?
So a 287 enemy pve Cyclops will do different damage than my 287 Cyclops?
Lol you guys.0 -
Well I for one am 100% more likely to actually participate in PvE under this system. I always hated the old system.
That said, I would have much preferred the iteration we had last time be the final solution. That one was the most engaging to me by far (to the point where it was the only one where I made progression). Any iteration that has a timer, and meaningful placement rewards, is still going to be a disappointment to me.
Anyway, people saying that anyone will grind 1-point nodes are crazy. The system as it exists makes that a sub-optimal strategy, so it will never happen even among the ultra-competitive.0 -

Except for new character events. Otherwise, story checks out.0 -

Who is this for again? This doesnt solve the fixed schedule problem and it makes everything harder for the same rewards.
I totally agree with the sentiment that this is probably very popular with people with lower rosters while veterans will not enjoy this at all. Is that the goal? PVE is for new players?
I don't understand...
I'm a vet and I feel like this change is good for me. I'm totally ok with t50 or t100 in pve. The enemy levels in the test events start out MUCH lower than the old format for me. A player like me who is only doing 1-4 clears per sub will probably enjoy much lower average enemy levels under this new format. Those clears of 5+ would likely push the average to where it's higher, but that won't matter for me. I wish I had tracked old vs new to give concrete numerical analysis, but I didn't.
Please don't think that i'm arguing that this format is perfect or that pure progression wouldn't be better, it would. You asked who it could possibly benefit and I think I fit that category.0 -
Sorry for my bad english, but I hope I explain it correct, so everyone understand it and can tell me if I'm right
(If you want a Top ranking)
Now you have to do a starting grind (first 4 clears) than in the last 2 hours you have to do a end grind...
..... So in the time between the first 2 hours and the last 2 hours of each sub, you have to do nothing
..... After the end grind, the new sub starts, so you have to do a end grind and a start grind in one row ( 4 hours and 7 clears in a row)
If you add the main nodes to that, there will be more than 7 clears in a row
It looks like D3 really want us to buy Healpacks like hell
The good thing is, no need for VIP, it will not help you, if you have to do all clears in a row
For Top ranking players it will be a rush0 -

Image is of a goon. Having different versions of characters seems unlikely.... I agree that changing the scaling curve would be clearer than applying an apparent band-aid.
Or hey....give the goons rarities and have their stats scale like everyone else's!
.
They didn't say goons specifically, but I hope you're right. Still you do know that our beloved game makers are quite unpredictable.0 -
What I'd like to see for progression rewards is this. Instead of top 10 get this, top 20 get that, etc. Have the progression rewards based off a percentage. Say achieve 90% of the max points gets x awards, the same rewards as if you finished in the top 10, achieve 80% would be like a top 20 finish, 70% would be like a top 50 finish and 60% would be like a top 100 finish. Anything below 60% would get the basic rewards for finishing outside the top 100. This definitely would be a "play at your own pace" set up and not a race to clear as fast as possible right off the bat.0

sinnerjfl wrote:I'll say it again, this new system doesnt help anyone. Top progression is already easily reachable with sub-optimal clears (no you don't have to play every 8 hours on the dot at all).
Placement is gonna be hellish now.

If you want to make people quit your game, this is how you do it.

I mean.....you veterans do understand that this is how people view this game anyways, correct? You all demolish everyone in PvP, so why shouldn't PvE be the mode for the newer and intermediate players? lol0 -
OneLastGambit wrote:The scaling will massively discourage grinding after 7 clears.
Having played all the tests and placed t10 in all of them I can say that I never cleared more than 7 times in any test and still managed t10, the reasoning is that only a small few will be able to clear more than 7 and they will very likely get hit hardest by scaling.
I think you were very lucky then, I was nowhere near t10 on at least a couple of the tests after doing 7 clears.0 -
i am surprised they hot-shotted the changes to permanent before giving it a try in all the different types of events ( regular, heroic, and with multiple waves). wouldn't it have been wiser to do tests to see if it works for a few event before the permanent change?
and if the devs were worried about people grinding easy/normal nodes over and over again to get placement they should lock out those nodes and have grinders grind hardest nodes.0 -
What was that noise?
Oh, just the mass exodus of people playing PvE competitively, which will in turn lead them to stop playing it altogether.0 -

I wonder how many will exodus right out of MPQ and in to PokemonGo
With such a smash hit showing up in the app stores, MPQ needs to be careful not to upset their player base.0 -
Exercise for the MPQ playerbase wouldn't be a bad thing. Maybe the endorphins would increase the mood around the forum.0

Feels like Year 3 plans coming to fruition.0

This looks good to me. I like the game avoiding rewarding me for not playing it, except at very specific increments. I also like the battles scaling up, since that gives me a challenge and a legitimate reason to fall behind, other than "I don't have enough hours a day to play this game."0
