Boring system. A lot. I play less with this system. Hurra devs0

To D3, if you're playing the same amount and getting a lower placement, that's a good thing for them. It means that someone else is playing more than you, has effectively taken your spot in the rankings. The whole goal of this was to get more people playing PvE nodes more often, and looking at what everyone is saying, it looks like they succeeded at that. It may alienate some of the older PvE players, but it looks like newer players are stepping up in their place.0

I play whenever i want and less time is needed to reach 25CP tier... for me great change and 2nd PvE proved that for me.
Cant understand complaints like "i play less, boring"... well, not everyone wants to play 5+ hours per day to reach top 10 in all available events.hodayathink wrote:To D3, if you're playing the same amount and getting a lower placement, that's a good thing for them. New character event starting today. This is where we see just how horrible this new system is.0

I remember how i tried that hard for new release 4* Jean Grey - since then, i had to sell at least 5 covers of her cuz i had 5/0/0 (now i have 5/2/1).
So yeah... everyone has a different priorities... for me there is no reason to play above max progress tier... placement rewards are not worth of the hours of effort.0 -

Ever since the new system started, I've barely played PvE at all. I doubt this will change even for a new character release. Good job, devs! You've found a way to wean me off of this game...0 -
If they stopped making 4*s required in story mode I wouldn't care that much about the new point system. But they are required so I'll go on record saying this new system is going to suck the fun right out of story mode.
The only chance to save it is to reduce the difficulty max on nodes and increase the alliance reward to top 200. There are around 20,000 alliances in story mode, awarding the new cover to 1% of them is more than reasonable.
Another option would be to award the new cover as the top progression reward. If you're going to make it required, then make it attainable.0 -
Well Thick as Thieves will be the first event I can recall in at least a year where I wont finish top 50. Crazy that 75K wont even get me top 50! That worries me massively for getting Wasp.0

Another member of the Skrull Hivemind™ chiming in to say that I'm done with PvE, even for a new release event.
This is a pretty big deal for us. Lots of us used to PvE awful hard.0 -
I wonder who all these people are who are placing so high? They aren't forum regulars, which is where I'd've expected to find try-hards. They largely don't seem to be members of top tier alliances. They're just totally random people who seem to like playing now more than they ever did under the old system.
Weird.0 -

Weird.
So while it's a broader mix of alliances than what I expect to see for the new release, it's not totally out of what with expectations, given that Baglady is the T10 prize.0 -

Well, I wasn't really thinking of top 10. I was thinking of passing progression.
It looks like about half of the people in my standings made progression. Compare this to Past PvEs I've been in where progression was good enough for top 10 (or more typically top 50).
If that holds true for what most people can see, that means that for every person in a top tier alliance who loses interest in competing, demiurge gained ~10 people who are more engaged with the game than ever before.0 -

PROGRESSION REWARDS is what many of us players are asking....but Devs seems to be deafs to our request0 -

Not a member of the Skrull Hivemind™ but echoing the sentiment that if this is the new world of PvE I am done, even for new characters. The 4+ hour grind sandwiched around your chosen start time and the ridiculous scaling (Why Yes it's perfectly reasonable to add another 40 levels to that level 280 Hood!) are just the tip of the iceberg (let's not get started on rewards that don't scale with player progress, crit boosts, insistence on placement not progression etc, etc..)
tl;dr: this isn't fun. Congratulations, I've lost the will to play PvE. We're suppose to lose right? Mission Accomplished.0 -
Thank you for this new Story mode. I can now get 25 Command Points on a regular basis. What I hated the most was checking the time every 8 hours to see when I should play this game. That was starting to get very tiresome! I can now play at my leisure. Also I don't have to worry when I play that 6-day story event only to realize on the last day that I don't have enough time or points to get the 25 CP. That was so demoralizing; I felt like I wasted 6 days of my life....
Anyway, thanks for the fix. I am a happy MPQ story-player again.0 -

It's a fantastic system for the casual player who just wants to dip in now and then, definitely.
But it's a *terrible* system for the competitive gamer.
I'm semi-competitive. I'm never going to hit No 1, I'll likely never get to top 10 again. But I like hitting top 100 or aiming for top 50 to pour covers into my championed 3*s. On the old system I'd consistently get a cover for the new 4* without much bother.
I knew the true test for this PvE malarky would be the first new 4* release and hoo boy is it ever telling. I always stepped my game up for those, making sure to grind a lot more for points than before and trying to play optimally, assuming work time would allow.
Now I find the optimal strategy is to leap into the sub event, beat every node 4 times (or 2 if it's a survival) and then leave. This takes about 2 hours and is boring as hell. The next day you grind all the nodes down as far as possible for an hour or two then spend another 2 hours on the new sub event. So now, instead of spending maybe 30-60 minutes in the game every 8 hours with a grind at the end you need to do the same amount of work all at once and good lord is it dull! Especially since the scaling feels monsterous VERY quickly, fighting a bunch of level 300+ enemies that take ages to kill (gotta love Muscles & caltrops. So much fun!). It's REALLY not helped by this week's character selection being so woefully dull. No heavy hitters at all. If XPool or Red Hulk or even Hulkbuster were boosted it wouldn't be so bad, I could power my way through. But nothing this week helps with speedy kills, making this all feel even *more* dull on top of the existing dullness.0 -

To be honest to hit top twenty you don't need to pack the second grind all into one session. As long as you do the first 4 clears at the start of the sub you can pretty much do the others any time spaced out through the day. You are absolutely right about needing to do the first 4 (or 2 for wave nodes) in one sitting though. Without that you won't get the refresh points high enough.
A top 5-20 placement is much easier for me with this system since I prefer playing in one big chunk and then doing clears though the day when I have a couple of minutes. Top 1-5 is probably a lot more time intensive than it was in the old system though.0 -

After clearing 4 times, the refresh counter goes to 24 hours. So to get the best point value you need to wait close to 24 hours and then grind it down. Spacing it out doesn't really help you much.0 -

Doesn't help at all, but there aren't enough players going to 7 clears for it to matter. And it helps with my healthpack usage since I can just use a few different teams leaving me healthpacks for PVP.0
