I do not really think that anyone "needs" it icon_e_wink.gif I mean - I do not have it, but it will just be added to the character sheet and GSBW is so low on ISO pumping priority list that it's just sad... it's like C.Mags > BP ~ LT > Punisher > rest icon_e_wink.gif

So I am thinking we will probably need to replace Ophidiann.

They were one of the early members and probably came to the forums once after I posted that I was recruiting. Back then I wasn't super picky and was just trying to build the alliance up. I think I might have had it on public when I first created it and he might have joined then, I don't remember.

I think at the bare minimum, a person needs to have a forum account and can post to our alliance forum for communication. Ophidiann hasn't been on this forum or the in game chat. I think we all agree, communication is the key and if they can't at least do that, we really need to look for someone who can.

As far as keeping track of everything on a spreadsheet, that seems overkill. It would just be more work and no one wants that. I think we are fine and most everyone knows we are a strong team that can score well if we need to but also are not so crazy serious that we have quotas and such. I want the game to still be fun and not work. My motto is Play how you want and have fun. If we need to make adjustments down the road, thats fine. But for now, things are good.

So I am thinking we should remove Ophidiann and replace them with someone active and that can communicate. I hope this isn't coming across as harsh. Not trying to be.

    Thoughts?
  • Like I said in chat, she/he seems to have one foot out the door on this game. I think you've shown great restraint in waiting for Ophid. to make some kind of response (with words or actions).

If we can add someone that has been playing the current PvE event consistently, their point total could vault us up to contention of 2nd place overall.

I am in agreement that we have given Ophidiann enough opportunity to let us know he/she is still interested in playing. There has been sporadic activity and more importantly no communication. I think we need to find someone who at least knows how to use the in-game chat although a forumite would be optimal.

Also I am very much against spreadsheets. I don't think we need to have to have the lowest scoring among us having it in black and white. As long as we are consistently taking the top cover award then we are doing fine. If that stops all of a sudden we can talk amongst ourselves why we think that is so.
  • Please god no spreadsheets. That will kill some of the fun of the game.
  • If I can make a suggestion, it would be cool if we could invite an 'up and comer' in the MPQ world instead of an established player (ie. a day one player). Someone that is currently locked out of any chance of getting into a top 100 alliance and could actually really use all these 3 star covers we've been winning. I think they'd be very loyal to the group (and gracious).

Plus, they would be out of my MMR bubble and it would be one less alliance member I have to waste ISO on skipping. icon_razz.gif

I like the idea, do you have anyone in mind?
  • Nope, but I'm sure if you post what you're looking for in a forum post, that somebody decent will bite. I'm sure there are a bunch of dedicated players on these forums that are stuck on 5-10 manned alliances looking for a way to move out.
  • Fitted Kitchens is currently looking for a new member and started a new thread for it.....should we do the same? Either that or if one of us has someone in mind then they can nominate them. Lord Will did a good job picking up GT, so maybe he knows of someone else?

As far as not getting a day 1 player, I agree it isn't necessary. However, imo you don't want to get someone too low, because the game is getting harder all the time, and if they don't have at least 1 3* hero fully covered by now, it is going to get more difficult for them to keep up unless they are willing to spend money. And if they are willing to spend money.....then their roster wouldn't only have 1 3* fully covered icon_lol.gif

They don't have to have a crazy good roster by any means, but most importantly they 1) are an active player, 2) can communicate reliably on the forums or in in-game chat. Still, I would avoid someone with strictly 2* heroes unless we know they are going to invest time/money to this game. Look at any of the top alliances in this game and see what their "weakest" member has, and you will see it isn't all that weak. I don't know who has the lowest leveled roster in our alliance, but I would say that should be the floor and we should get someone with a similar roster or better. And we all know who is our ceiling....(*stares at Colog*)

I like this idea as well. As Mizake said, only concern with an extremely limited roster is that it makes it hard for them to compete in many of the events. That said, I think I have one of the less established rosters in the group and being a member of this alliance has been awesome. In the beginning, I could use every single 3* cover we got and as a result my roster slots have filled up to the max! It's also been a lot of fun! When I started in this alliance, Ares was my top cover and I was running a combo OBW/Ares/C.Mags/M.Storm (I got lucky early on and in LRs to collect his Blue Covers) and I was just starting to fill out Punisher. Now I am running any mix of BP, Shield Bro, C. Mags, Patch, OBW, and obviously whoever may be buffed. I've been able to max out or reasonably max out covers for nearly every 3* in the game. I also feel like my roster has had no hindrance in me contributing. It's all about managing your MMR and not so much your roster. Especially now that PvE can exceed 230 into 400. That said, I had a cover or 2 of lots of 3*s, they just were no use to me because they weren't fully covered. I think whoever we recruit should have a cover or 2 of some of the recent rewards (GSBW, Punisher, Lazy Thor/Cap A, BP, etc.) They don't have to have a usable version, but at least some history of being competitive.

Also, did we ever decide if we were going to use some type of separate app for messaging?

Last but not least, I like the decision to promote Colo to Commander as well! It just sounds right icon_razz.gif

I think they fixed the in game messaging a bit. Let's stay with that for now and if we run into problems, we'll readdress it.

I have put out some feelers already and will let you know if any pan out.

To clarify: when I suggested a spreadsheet I meant a shared document we would all have access to where we can see each other's status and whatever information we care to provide about ourselves at a glance. It was intended to be a tool for communication, not for keeping track of each person's performance. I know we're trying to keep the game casual and I love that, but if we intend to stick together as an alliance for the foreseeable future I think that having such a platform available to us would reduce distress and uncertainty when a member leaves the game without informing the rest.

    What I had in mind.

An additional benefit of having a bunch of google accounts linked together is we can use the messaging system on gmail or google plus or whatever to replace the slow and unreliable system of private messaging we now have.
Edited to add: messages still don't appear when I have the app running in the background, had to restart it to load the ones I missed.

Getting a newish player could be refreshing. I agree with Mizake. Also, good job on the progression aussiemac.
  • Also, just thought of it, but hopefully find someone that enjoys PvP. It's our weak spot, and the new Seasons thingie is based entirely on PvP.
  • In how long do we plan on kicking him? It would be a shame if a purple cover for falcon is wasted on an inactive player.

Agree with this completely plus the allure of getting a purple falcon cover if they join before Sunday should help recruiting.
  • probably no rush until Will secures the new player. That way we don't have 20 other people crashing our chat and posting random pleas to join.

Okay that kind of spreadsheet is fine also having a list of e-mails as a contact is not bad in case something goes wrong with in-game chat or the forums.
