The only rules I guess would be:

    1. Please try and and post a score even if it is a little score in every event. Every 100 points helps when things get tight at the end.
    2. Let us know when you are going to have real life issues impact your ability to play. That way the rest of the team knows whether to pick it up early.

I do agree with Morgh there is going to be an event when we are all synchronized and ready to do some damage and then I think we could compete with the heavyweights. icon_e_smile.gif
  • The trouble with rules is that they are generally inflexible things. It's best to have a vague expectation and then let Will apply that on a case-to-case basis.

But Colognoisseur does a good job of saying it.

I have just promoted Colognoisseur to Commander. So he is a Co-Commander!

  • Unless the alliance reward structure changes such that more covers are given out to higher placements, I am content with doing well enough just to place in cover range. Pick C, top 100
  • Casual is fine with me and if the rules change I can change with them. 300 to 500 is not a lot to ask of a member in PvP. Between work and home life I can play a solid 3 hours a day.

There will be some PvP events where I score the minimum or a little more to ensure those that don't have a certain cover can get it through the alliance rewards. Then there will be others I will do more towards the max so I can get covers I don't have. PvE I love to play so that's always to the max for me.

Communication is the big point everyone is making and that too is not a lot to ask of anyone. I'll keep posting here and there to let you know I'm still around and everyone can keep an eye on my scores and let me know if I need to bump them up to help make getting prizes easier before a PvP event ends. And you should know I usually start the PvP in the last 24 hours. Also I check the forums daily and the in game chat as well so if you post a hurry up and go comment I'll see it.
  • Congrats Colog !

As far as the current discussion goes.....I would like to re-iterate what others have already said which is communication is key. Beyond how much someone plays, all of us should communicate through the forums or through in game chat.

Now as far as alliance requirements....so far we have done well. We haven't missed a single cover reward. However, certain times it has come really close, and moving forward, this is only going to get more difficult for everyone. The number of 20-man alliances is going to grow, and all current alliances are constantly optimizing their membership rosters to remain competitive. We are no different.

If you look at a snapshot of our in game points and such (I know I do), two things stand out, to me at least.

The first is we have a very strong core of players. If you look at our top 10 players for instance, it rates almost exactly the same as any other top alliance. To me, this means we can be competitive regardless of alliance composition, and we be casual or hardcore as we choose, because we should almost always finish strongly as long as everyone can contribute as much as they can or want to.

Secondly, we do very well in PvE events in general. Where we struggle is PvP events. There are some members I guess who just don't like to do PvP. I personally don't understand it because it's the best source of ISO/HP in the game. PvP rewards in general are much greater than PvE.....look at the current events....you get 3 Falcon covers after an entire week of the current Hunt tournament....meanwhile you've had the Hulk, Hot Shots, and now Punisher PvP events where you could have won 9+ covers and more ISO/HP during the same time period.

Still, different strokes for different folks and all that. I agree with Lord Will's attitude towards this alliance, which is play as you will, the playstyle you choose. Still, the key is to play. I don't think there is any issue with PvE, the issue is with PvP. Maybe with the changes to MMR and tanking (it definitely doesn't work like it does before), people won't be as scared to join PvP tournaments. IMO everyone should be trying for at least 300 points to get the token, with the changes made that should take a minimal amount of effort given how we are all facing easier teams now in the earlier part of the PvP events.

There is no doubt in my mind we could be a top 10 alliance if we wanted to be. However, I don't feel that is necessarily what we want. The amount of dedication needed to maintain that ranking would mean more member turnover than Lord Will and the rest of us may be comfortable with. I feel we can easily maintain a top 50 standing while still being "casual" in a sense. What we shouldn't be, I feel, is ever struggling to maintain top 100. That puts a lot of pressure on some of us to pick up the slack. Once in a while is OK. Every PvP tournament....not so much.

I think there should be a few basic ground rules:

    1) Communicate with the alliance when you are going to be AFK and not playing, and for what duration (1 day, 1 week, etc).
    2) Socre a base number of points in all events. More of a recommendation than a requirement, so as not to come down as too draconian. Still, realize as alliance mates we are all looking at the scoreboard. Without naming names it's easy to see who's playing and contributing and who's not. I would say 300 at a minimum for PvP events. PvE is harder to gauge, but maybe something like 1/2 to 1/3 of whatever the top score is.
    3) Scoring a zero in a single event is OK, even without prior warning. Score more than 1 in a row should not be, unless previously stated that you are going to be away. If this continues, the day will come where we will miss out on a cover, and that day hopefully should never come, so we should nip it in the bud. So someone who scores multiple zeroes or extremely low scores should be subject to review and dismissal. As long as everyone knows the rules and agrees to abide by them, then there should be no hard feelings. Again, this is for someone who hasn't given a reason why they aren't playing, not for someone who's told us ahead of time they are going to be AFK.

With the newest ISO reward addition to alliances, it's easy to see whose logging in and whose not. For us, it's been everyone. Which is even more confusing if someone is logging in and not scoring any points, or very few points. Are they on vacation? Are they in the hospital? Are they just logging in and collecting rewards but not contributing? Again, communication is key, and those questions can't be answered unless that player let's us know what's going on. Which brings me full circle back to the most important trait we should be looking for....communication.
  • Checking in to confirm that I have read the posts from the last few days concerning alliance solidarity.

I agree that communication is essential. It would be ideal for each of us to be aware of how every other member is likely to perform in an event so that we can adjust our participation and expectations accordingly. To this end I think a spreadsheet on google docs might help. I'd be glad to create and manage it if everyone is agreeable to this. It's a tad un-casual but whatever I say it's commitment.

On the issue of where I want our alliance to be I'd say I'm comfortable being where we have consistently been - top 50. Wouldn't hurt to aim higher for that sweet HP, provided we're all feeling up to it.

Just my own quick two cents, agreed that communication is key and with the reward structure, I think we are perfectly fine. Basically, as long as we get the 3* cover, I'm happy.

But if that changes, some changes will need to be made to ensure we don't lose out on that cover.

Off Topic but had to share, can't be too serious all the time icon_e_wink.gif

I bought these for my daughter for her birthday.

Here she is, MPQ girl approved!

She really loves it. We talk about it a lot, different heros and tactics. She is working through the prologue still. It's really cool.

Thanks for the support for becoming what i consider myself, vice-commander. I will only serve if the commander is incapacitated from facing too many level 400 dark avengers.
  • Big thanks and props to those who have been putting in big points in PVP recently to cover for the rest.

Having played enough games to understand this whole guild/alliance responsibility thing, I am all for whatever is being discussed. Personally I just play and try at least not to be the one contributing the least points in all events.

Still having fun for now but this is becoming a little too grindy and serious for a mobile game that's supposed to be played while riding the train.
  • Just saying hi and agree with all suggestions here, communication is key. And contrast colog.
  • I'm admittedly more regular in PVE and PVP, because of the bad end timings on my side. PVP getting really competitive close to end time makes it terribly difficult to score well, and I don't usually go in for things I already have maxed covers for. Punisher tourney atm, especially, is terribly boring. Does anyone actually need that GSBW red? Seeing that nobody levels that trash past 3. I face 3* teams from start to end - annoying stuff like 141 spidey, mags, hulk, patch... Basically stuff that really eats a chunk out of my team.

I don't have a problem clocking 3-500 though. It's exam period atm so I'm not particularly active and going for top 10. Some days I login just to do a single clear on PVE, hit what I can before I get back to studying.
  • The lack of global rubberbanding is really screwing me on the PvE. I wasn't able to play for a few days, so everyone in my bracket was able to get in a few subs I didn't.

Now, I don't think there will be any way to catch back up with them and even crack the top 200.

I think PvP and MMR have been changed drastically, at least the last couple of rounds. I really doubt you will be fighting 141's early on, the way it works now it seems like you fight a lot of weaker teams up to about 700-800 and then you will begin to see your regular strong teams. A lot of people have been able to score higher than normal, myself included. This also means if you just go for 300-500, chances are slim to none you will be retaliated on, especially if you field a strong team. There are too many easier targets out there now at lower levels. This also means you can save on shielding costs unless you are going for top 10.

As far as GSBW red sucking, I agree. And, like you, I don't need it, my GSW is already at 3 red. However, other teammates might, and even for those that don't, it's still 500 free ISO (for selling it), which is nothing to sneeze at. And for a strong alliance like ours, it should be routine to get the cover. My feeling has always been to get the cover, whether I personally need it or not, because for me it's 500 ISO, while for another alliance mate it might be a cover they actually need. Either way it's win/win. In a different tournament in the future, maybe it will be a cover I need, and it's only 500 ISO to you, but this is what it means to be a part of a team, we help each other out regardless of what our personal needs are.

    Good luck with your exams!
  • I looked through everyone's roster and we do have some people that need that red cover. It's helping hand time! icon_e_biggrin.gif cause I too know I will need help in the future to get some missing covers.
