The Hulk Event Discussion Thread

I'm not sure Jeremy, as I wasn't around the last time they did the Hulk tournament either. But I can say that I'm doubting I'll be able to do too much with it today given the crazy level issues. No way I can top a 197 Hulk right now, and yes, I've tried about a dozen times thus far. Getting closer each time at least. So far, I've managed to get to about 125th place at one point, I'm sure that's much lower now as I haven't been able to play the last couple of hours much.0

Hulk was difficult in the last event as well.0
-
Most of my enemy groups have been between levels 60 and 140, but I'm not finding it difficult. 35 Thor+ 50 mStorm+ 34 mBW has been cascading and stun-locking me through pretty efficiently. My main problem is that I don't have any of the required covers for the essential missions .
This event is *fantastic* for me, though. Tokens with a majority chance of producing Thor, oBW, or a three-star? Yes please . I already picked up an oBW purple too.0 -
The sub event rewards suck too.
Top 4 of 2000 get 2 tokens 1k iso 100 hp... really think about that. The top .25% get that.
Top 20(5-20) of 2000 Get 1 token and similar rewards
. Awfully small window for the top prizes0 -
Guess I'll wait till the weekend before starting, rubberbanding will get me the progression rewards I want anyways.
That and we'll unlock the final hulk node eventually, most of the major ones in the event did unlock near the end so its still free hulk covers for everyone.0 -

The top 600 get a Hulk token. That's good enough for most players that rank that low.0 -
So far the rubberbanding sure doesn't feel like it's the old The Hulk system, because I'm currently doing both brackets and can reach #1 of each. If it was the old way, someone who is only doing one sub bracket would have an insurmountable lead (he'd roughly have the score equal to the two sub brackets combined), and you'd think there's at least 1 guy out of 2000 that figured that out.0

Rubberbanding?
I'm new - is there a trick to gaining points more efficiently?0 -

As I recall, that was only as the subs progressed and people in main bracket leapt away from the crowd. The first few subs are definitely double #1able - I'm currently first in both but haven't grabbed 1st overall yet (but I will... )
By halfway through the event, enough people will have joined main bracket late that when they join the subs against you, they'll rubberband way passed you.0 -
Any harm in repeating the main screen missions for extra points?0

LOL, rank that LOW? Huh, please. My free team is currently ranked 1710 on easy, 1694 on the hard. My paid mobile did crack the 600 (barely at 584), and can't even beat the first team due to the fact that the scaling is totally out of whack. Sadly, the freebie team did so much better on PC because *gasp* the scaling seemed to work.
Let's not even talk about the mess of the main event. This game is turning me sour quickly. No ISO to progress, the events are all exclusionary (YOU MUST HAVE XX COVER NOW TO PLAY! BUY TODAY!), and the chance of winning boiling down to living your life on a schedule. Now they've screwed scaling up the other way (barely any last event, now scaled to Deadly on the first encounters? Sure it's fixed but too little too late for most).
PS- Rubberbanding is basically gaming the system. You run the event down within X amount of time from the start, stop playing, come back after Y amount of time, rinse and repeat, and you are able to bypass players who actually more actively participate in the event. It screws players that play regularly when able, and rewards players for scheduling their lives around their playtimes.0 -
I certainly wasn't clamouring for a return of the The Hulk event.
Everyone who's been whining lately about scaling wanted the Hulk. Here it is. The ultimate grind fest.0 -

has anything changed except the scaling?
I don't think the scaling has changed much beyond this morning's glitch.
Hulk Solo (shot first...) was always a buffed characater because there was only one of him. Remember the 115 Ragnarok you had to beat in prologue? It's the same thing only you should have more resources by now.0 -

Wait, Hulk had a hard side and an easy side? I thought Sim was the first hard side easy side event.0 -

People have taken to referring to the sub worth more points as the hard sub ever since the Sim event.0 -

Yes, the difference is that earning points in the sub will increase your sub and main rank. Earning points in the main window will only increase your main rank.0 -

Every event I've seen has a "hard" and "easy" side. It just isn't labeled as such. If you look at the matches you pull on either side, one event always seem to rank to deadly much faster than the other. I've seen it on the last two events, I don't see why they would be different now. As it stands, you can see the "easy" side is made of an NPC team first fight, yet the hard side starts you vs. a two villain one NPC team, and for me, they where 7 levels higher than the other team as well.
On the "easy" side, I can normally place around 10th-20th if I luck into having the powered characters, on the "Hard" side, I rarely crack the top 60 just because the opponents tend to be Normal/Hard off the bat, and rapidly scale to Deadly thereafter.0 -

The first subs on the old way had like 200/300 total points and that's grinding everything down to 0. It was simply not enough points for rubberband to even kick in, but even then I recall seeing guys who had like 2 or 3 more points than the maximum possible in a particular bracket if you did everything, since they didn't do the other bracket and got like an extra 2-3 points of rubberband effect, and that was actually insurmountable because that was 2 or 3 more points than the maximum non rubberband score.
This time around, the points are much bigger, and simply scaling that to the points seen thus far (about 10K) there should be guys who have a 500 point lead on anyone else on the bracket by doing only one sub bracket, and while it's entirely possible that everyone is just doing both bracket, all it takes is one guy who is doing only one sub bracket to have a lead no one doing both brackets can possibly catch.0
