Hello everyone,

We will be running a Versus matchmaking test beginning tomorrow in the Magnetic Mayhem event (March 22, 2016). The same formula is being used as the current Enemy of the State PVE test. Due to the differences in Story and Versus modes, our hope is that players will find the experience to be an improved one. As always, all constructive feedback is welcomed and we thank you for the feedback you have provided to date. Here's word from Anthony at Demiurge:
"For the Magnetic Mayhem Versus event, we will be testing some matchmaking changes we have been working on. Previously, players were matched against other players based solely on heroes’ levels. Now, players will be matched against other players based on the hero power levels as well. The Versus event after that (Starfall) will return to normal matchmaking. We will be looking at how people did and listen to what everyone is saying about it. We will let you know how the test went and let you know about what our plans are for the future of matchmaking in Versus events. We look forward to hearing your feedback on how it went!"

Thank you!

*UPDATE* More On Power Levels (3/22/16)

As requested, here's additional clarity regarding Power Levels:

Demiurge Quote:
"Power levels are synonymous with how many covers a Hero has in a particular ability (or Power). Consider the screenshot of Cyclops (Uncanny X-Men) below: Cyclops' Optic Blasts power has a power level of 5 while his Mutant Revolutionary power has a power level of 3. The algorithm for determining what level enemies you play against in Story content takes the player's heroes' levels and their power levels into account. For Versus content, matchmaking takes a combination of the player's current score in the Versus event as well as their heroes' levels and power levels when finding a opponent."

First, they took away my PVE. I said nothing.

Then, they took away my PVP. I said nothing.

Then, they took away my DDQ. Still, I said nothing.

Then they took away any and all chances at earning ISO and CP, and I had nothing left.

Sure, why not take a system that received overwhelming negative reaction and apply it to the other format without any tweaks?

    What could go wrong?

At least they didn't mirror PvE and change the 8 hour shield refresh to 24 hours?

Is there a score at which covers and levels don't matter, and you are simply matched up with whoever is out there around your score? If so, what is that score?

After the testing in EotS, I'm definitely not looking forward to seeing the changes in PVP. And Slarow, no such score exists. There is a "wall" in PVP, where once you hit a certain score, a whole segment of the player base becomes invisible to you. I don't see that getting any better in this new matchmaking system, I actually see it getting worse. The testing hasn't gone live yet, but I'm not crossing my fingers.

What ever happened to testing during off season? Enough people still play those events that you could still get your data

Well, at least they're not threatening that it'll be "fun"...

    Communication, horray!

Now, what about how that other "test" is doing?

Who knows, this may actually make PvP better. I don't think it worked very well for PvE, but PvP is a little different. What works on one may not work on the other. And vice versa. I'm curious to see how it plays out myself.

Can you give me an idea of what this does to someone like me? I have 13 championed 4*s, and a decent number of 5* characters, but NOT one of them is usable, even if I dump ISO into them. Is this going to see that and match me vs nothing but high level (and I can't possibly stress this enough) well COVERED 5* teams? Because if that's what I'm in for, just let me know now so I can go look for something else to do with my gaming time....

well, certain things can't be screwed up in pvp. node rewards never run dry and opponent levels cannot do the "+15" every win over and over again. I'd rather not see nothing but level 300 opponents, but I'd almost prefer that over pve in the 250-350 range that you're supposed to handle 50-60 times per sub.

Agreed! The optimist in me thinks that I might face fewer championed Jeanbusters with my three-stars.

They are vastly different styles of gameplay. Fortunately this one takes place over the course of a much shorter event - if only the PVE testing was as forgiving. As someone who is constantly getting their tinykitty handed to them in PVP despite having an balanced roster, my PVP experience couldn't get much worse. Could it be possible that I won't scaled with players that score thousands of more points than me in the same event?

    Thank you!

So we will face hard teams without any seed teams to attack, then they will scale incredibly fast?

Or am I missing something? >.>

At least it isn't a super awesome cover at 1K, if it all goes horribly wrong.

Snark aside, there's no dramatic change to the structure, which was really the worst part of the new PvE test.

The scaling for PvE is borked, and will probably be borked for PvP too, but these seem to be things that are easiest enough for them to fix every couple years. (Ok, a little snark still)

Considering pve is essentially extended pvp but with Ai generated rosters, I'm skeptical

But yes, I am also morbidly curious

What's the cover reward for 1K?
