The latest changes to PvP have made it significantly harder for me, which in turn has made it a lot less fun. As overall scores have shot up, I don't seem to be able to make my own score reach much higher than it typically did before (mid-800's or so). I do love Patch so I'll push hard on this one, however. I hope I finally puzzle out this new system. Any one figured it out?

I'll send you a gift card to buy HP. Use that for shields. Lots and lots of shields. How much do you need? $20? $50? A Stark Salary?

I was afraid that this was it. My inner Scrooge McDuck fights me so hard on repeat shielding. Also, you know, I make half-decent money, enough that I don't have to accept money from strange men on the internet icon_mrgreen.gif

Once more unto the breach! (… … … as soon as I get home from work.)
  • I went up, climbed into the low 800s, and got to tenth place. I have no illusions that it will hold, of course. I'm just hoping to get something decent - I'll probably throw a 3-hour up at 9:00.

There will be a public shaming after this pvp and the one with the lowest score will have to use the lyrics of a Drake song in his signature for a week icon_lol.gif

On 2nd thought, most of us use a carebear in our signatures so...

We should come up with a "ShameBear" signature that the lowest scoring player has to use on forum for the duration of the next PvP. I've been scouring the google image search for good care bear images but it's limited.

    Also, I want Patch!!!

@Kamuu regarding PvP. When climbing in PvP it's good to use OBW and heal during battles.
    PvP STRATEGY:
Disclaimer: I heal in the story mode whenever my Heroes get low from too much PvP.
    - You can usually climb up to 600 and not being hit too much or often, unless you do this really early in the event.
    - Make your next push to 800-900+ in a single session.
    - Shield til the end OR
    - Shield and skip through your nodes until you find 3 that a worth 30+
    - Unshield, boost and take them out then shield. (It's worth looking at the leaderboard before you shield as the score there is correct compared to the one you are shown at the end of your battle).
    - If you want to climb higher then rinse and repeat.

Obviously the time of day matters but the closer to the end of the event it gets the busier PvP gets in my experience.

If you can commit to a single 2+ hour PvP session then it's worth joining the event late (last 20 hours). This way you should be able to get 30+ point battles all the time and climb to 600 quite easily.

Hopefully, someone can pass this on to Milkrain. He or she PM'd me and said I was in a queue to be attacked, but as a courtesy, he or she didn't want to attack while I was shielded. I appreciated the gesture and replied that I was shielded and Milkrain should go ahead now because I will be unshielding later. I am waiting for Milkrain's attack, so would you please pass along this message that it would be ideal if Milkrain goes ahead and attacks now.

    Thanks.
  • Well...opened up that 10-pack...not the best results, but I did get a blue cmags out of it.

    1- Blue cmags (3*!)
2,3,4 - Purple Hawkeye (in a row! Whaaat)
    5- Black Daken
    6- Yellow Bagman
    7- Blue MNmags
    8,9- Red 2* cap
    10- Blue bagman

That brings my cmags to 3/1/1...still a lonng way to go.
  • Awesome job everyone on the Falcon event. I went to sleep just under 2 hours before the end of the event when the bears were hovering around 100th. Wake up today to find out that we almost broke into top 50.

I also finished 1st in my bracket which was a big personal accomplishment. It only cost me 375 HP icon_e_confused.gif

    Congratulations on the 1st place!!

And great job everyone. Almost top50.

I think its getting tougher cause brackets are made of 500 players instead of 1000 now...

Lot of our Bears fought at the end. More personal best scores reached. Really a team effort. Everyone was pushing their scores in the last 2 hours. Awesome!!!

Also a pleasant victory for us since the first Top Gun event wasn't as kind to our alliance.

@Milkrain - that's still cheaper than outright buying a 4* and two 3* covers. Plus, you gave your heart a workout.
  • How do the smaller brackets make it tougher? You have half the people fighting over the same spots

Score inflation is real, but this last one was just insane. For now I'm gonna treat this as an anomaly, and I'll believe MMR bracketing only once this becomes a pattern

But there are evidently softer brackets and harder brackets. If you get into a hard bracket with lots of teams with lvl141 you will be hit more times, also, the pool of accesible players to hit is smaller.
  • I think you can be hit across brackets

I don't see how a larger bracket would make things easier. If you took your current bracket and added 500 players to it, it doesn't get easier. If you took an old 1000 bracket and removed half the players, it doesn't get harder.

If your targets were bracket restricted, smaller brackets means that you'd have a smaller pool of players to hit, but this is only an issue if your bracket just happened to be very strong. If this were the case, the culprit isn't the smaller brackets, it's the way bracketing is done together with how your targets are assigned
  • Getting some play time in this morning before family obligations and finally managed to earn my season 1 10-pack.

    1. Moonstone (2)
    2. OBW (2)
    3. GSBW (3)
    4. BagMan (2)
    5. Ares (2)
    6. X-Force Wolvie! (4)
    7. Invis Woman! (4)
    8. Daredevil (3)
    9. Cap (2)
    10. The Hood (3)

HOLY POOP! Statistically, I seriously got lucky there. I don't need any of the 3 stars besides Daredevil and he's meh, but still. Two 4 stars back to back is about as awesome that it gets. I literally laughed out loud when the Invisible Woman cover popped up.

Anyway, happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there/

Lurking alliance threads. You all know I do this. Don't act surprised.

These alliances communities are like little ecosystems on fast-forward. After individual contributions were available to see in-game, the first bit of drama came from alliances removing players who didn't contribute enough. Alliances min/maxed and optimized their way to better ranks. Then the wave of community burn-out came through (though a burdensome PVE probably had something to do with it). Then unhappiness with the game. Alliances start drafting rules of conducts, minimum requirement, and some tough talks were left on the forums. Some membership movements in alliances. Also at this time, many "new-money" alliances sprouted up. Some of them struggled, but many fulfilled their mission of being very competitive. Some alliance poaching was involved, but not entirely so. However, this latest wave is also interesting. There's increasing dissatisfaction with very-competitive players who are leaving their alliances for even MORE competitive ones. The net result is very similar to alliances removing underperforming players... but there's a more subtle shift... and it's that the player/worker demands more fruit for their labor. Originally, a "name-brand" alliance was in control. Now, the player is in the controlling seat. As the talent availability shrinks, it becomes an "worker-centric" market. If you got talent, all the alliances want you.

There's really no point in my rant as far as CareBearStare is involved. We aren't shifting alliance philosophies or getting ready of a round of kicks. We aren't introducing new minimum scores or asking for everyone's mailing addresses. It's just DecoyDuck doing his thing.

As always, Bears, communicate your cares and concerns via PM. You know my record, you know I answer you.
  • Regarding DecoyDuck's post:

I'm not sure what you're hearing from people or if your post was in regard to anything particular. I know I've been somewhat vocal regarding some less active players but it has been mostly out of curiosity. As long as we're not missing out on multiple consecutive top 100s then I really have no issue with the more casual players. That being said it is more fun when there are people to chat with in-game. The game is less fun when I'm just grinding and there is no one to share my frustration or success with.

The whole gang has proved that we're really good at rallying in events when the alliance needs to climb. In the recent top gun Falcon event I went to sleep with 2 hours left and the alliance hovering around 100th place and woke up to see that we finished closer to top 50.

You, DecoyDuck, make the shots and I trust you as our commander so keep up the good work.

    Hi everyone!

Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself since I am the newest member of the group. You can call me John or Aaron. I go by both. I live in Chicago and am completely addicted to MPQ. I'm 33, and in a few weeks I will be a State certified Lease Agent. Which means NO MORE BOSSES. icon_lol.gif

I think it is going to be really nice to be playing aside people who actually play to be competitive while letting it remain fun!

Hope you all have a great night. I'm heading off to bed.

BTW, How do I get a nifty CBS signature pic? icon_e_biggrin.gif

Edit: MPG was supposed to be MPQ. icon_lol.gif

Krakadoom! Despite the extremely popular Loki covers (according to Milkrain icon_e_wink.gif ), CareBearStare handily took 41st place. Congratulations everyone! Everyone put up some great points and the team deserves the awards.

Trophies go to fedlex20, tonzil, and Kamu though Mischief and AgCenturion397 were only 4 points away from the bronze!

Irony award goes to AgCenturion397, who advised not to waste my HP and break shields. But then he decides to go ahead and do it.

    Stare!!!!!!!!!
  • Welcome Aaron!

You have no idea how close I was to finally dropping 10K ISO to max my loki. Now was the time to do it really, but it went to Falcon instead.

    am completely addicted to MPG.

Is MPG some new and exciting drug? icon_razz.gif
Wikipedia tells me MPG can be one of the following; an album by Marvin Gaye, Miniature Pony Games or Mildly Platonic Goblins

I see you figured out how to get a signature image. For anyone else that is not sure how to do it you can simply right-click on the image that someone else is using and select "copy image URL" and then go into USER CONTROL PANEL on the forum navigation bar. From there go to the PROFILE tab and select SIGNATURE on the left hand side. A text window becomes available with some button options, one of them say "Img". If you click that you get two sets of square brackets the say "img" "/img". Paste the image URL between these and Hey Presto! you're DONE.

Whoa, whoa... don't scare me like that. CareBearStare loves Purinxa. He is part of the core of CBS.

I made the sad decision to let Mr. Panduras go after the Krakadoom PVP. We were unable to make things work out for him, unfortunately. We wish him well in his future MPQ.
