  • Ugh.... That makes me sad

I not suggesting they allow alliance cover sharing or anything... but if I wish I could send them to you guys - these are going to waste!

As wonderful as those covers look, I find it so much more satisfying to win my own. I'm afraid that I'd get bored of this game very quickly if people could just give you covers.

Maybe a 1-for-1 trading system could be ok. That way you had to trade one 3* for another so you always lost something.

I'm a little worried that once I max out my 3* covers I'll get bored with this game. No point earning rewards that are useless.

I'm eagerly awaiting hitting that point, because it would mean I could finally just casually play whenever I wanted to. But at the rate they're releasing new characters, it may never come.

Wow, a trading system... that's not a terrible idea.

The game can get painful at times, especially when the pve gets to levels 200 or 300, but (at the risk of sounding sanctimonious), fighting for the alliance overcomes the potential boredom. And there are still plenty of covers I DO need.

Would you not feel pressured to play just to keep the alliance "successful"?

I actually came to this thread now to ask if CareBearStare has had any discussion regarding temporary inactivity of players and maybe having a player substitution system? I'm new here so I'm not going to try to impose anything but I'd like to hear people's thoughts.

Speaking for myself; when and if I decide to play the game less for whatever reason then I would feel honour-bound to remove myself for whatever period that I knew I wasn't going to play. I wouldn't want the alliance to drop below top 100 because of me and I would never expect to claim rewards that I didn't work towards. Strictly speaking for myself though.

Maybe have a "bench" alliance and call it "CareBearSleep" icon_razz.gif Less active players could hang out there and still earn the 50HP that you get when finishing top 1000 (or whatever the cut-off is).

JUST TO BE CLEAR, I'm not trying to make you change how you run this alliance. I am just wondering if you've thought about this at all.

That points so far off in the future I'm not too concerned about locking myself into a course of action on it now. Given the new character release rate lately, it may never come.

Since you've been a former alliance creator, I'm certainly curious about your perspective. As you all know, I'm a serious alliance thread lurker (I've got it so bad... I should be grinding nodes instead!) and there are a lot of top50 and top100 alliances going through growing pains that CareBearStare has or will be experiencing.

Then there are new alliances popping up with brazen promises about everyone being made a commander or no one ever getting kicked or absolutely anyone can join. And I want to tell those guys "stop! don't promise that!" But y'know, they're the competition so...

I agree that the best time to start phasing in some of these discussions is when we're doing OK. Otherwise, we get all panick-y. Well, at least I do (ichijuan knows...) Alliance management is one of the more enjoyable AND least enjoyable things to do (K.Mon - tell them what you told me way back at the beginning!)

I think the first thing is to get some communication back from the balance of some of the members... Just like many alliances, I was guilty of making my alliance public at the beginning cause I wanted to fill it up. Now I got lucky there. Some of you early bird OGs are AWESOME. Some were not so much. Everyone is playing and posting points (except Mr. "long vacation" Panduras) now but I was hoping we can get a hello from some of the quieter folks every now and then. NOT trying to kick anyone out - just want to make sure everyone is still on the same page.

So we'll start leaning on some of the quieter people soon... So, Sword of Omens... give me sight beyond sight. Show me where the rest of our alliances is at. Let our insignia shine through the sky! Thundercats! Hoooooooooooooo!

Wait... wait... stop. Wrong cartoon reference. Where am I again?

P.S. A CareBearHibernate alliance? That's some serious big dog talk!
  • As for the alliance I started I also held it open at first until it filled out, then I made it private. A few people came and went of their own accord. The friend I brought in is still there and I made him commander so he'd be able to welcome me back in if that would be needed. I also made a 2nd random guy commander as he expressed willingness to expand the alliance by one slot. He never got around to it before I left but I made him commander anyway as he was the 2nd best performing player in the alliance. I figure if I made him commander he wouldn't leave once he saw me leave icon_razz.gif

I did kick one person before I left as he was only posting about 100 points per PvP and his roster wasn't making much progress.

I had brought in two people from the forum but neither was very chatty and they turned out to be somewhat inconsistent in their performance.

I understand that people have real lives, but I believe that 2 hours of MPQ per day would place you pretty well. You can probably hit 500 points in PvP in an hour and the main nodes in PvE in one hour should allow you to stay top 100 in any event I would think. Or I could be wrong - maybe I should do that as an experiment some time.

Until an alliance has all roster spaces it might be a bit optimistic to start thinking about having a B-team alliance.
  • I'm going to keep playing the way I've been playing, but I'm afraid it sounds like I might not be quite as active a player as you guys are looking for. If you decide that is the case I understand. I'm not excited about the idea, but I get it.

Huh? No, no, you're cool. No one is getting the kick (sent you a PM, adamLmpq). I'm just riffing about alliances and communication and such. Keep having fun and collecting and contributing. PM me anytime if anyone is getting a weird vibe.

And, in case you wondering from looking at HP of Ares and Venom (Daken already dead) thos were 8K - 9K kill shots!

At this point, there's no choices left.

Good heavens, what has become of scaling...?

I'm not trying to get anyone kicked.

In general I also like the idea that the hardcore players are helping out the casual players by carrying their weight in alliances.

As long as the alliance can stay in the top 100 I'll be more than happy.

    @DecoyDuck:

Out of curiosity, what's the average track record for this alliance? What's the highest you've placed and what's the lowest?

    @Tonzils

I looked at your roster and you have slightly lower level heroes than me which makes me wonder how your scaling has gotten so out of hand compared to mine. I'm starting to see some level 200+ guys but it's no more than one node per sub-event.
  • Use spidey much?

At 23,000+ HP per baddy and level 390+ x3, do you really have a choice?

Stunlock (Spidey), Purple feeding bluse for Stunlock (Mags) & Punisher Retribution (40%) for killshots...

Takes anywhere between 7 and 9 minutes to get the node dead, but works.

At those levels I suppose you don't have a choice, but I wonder if the use of spidey is what got you there in the first place. Maybe I'm not grinding the nodes hard enough to see that kind of scaling.

As a proud 5blue Spidey abuser myself, I say "Carry on Tonzil, as you were."
  • My Spidey is stuck at 4/2/1 and 66th level. He's my second-least covered 3* at this point (only HT has less), and he's functionally useless. Admittedly, the highest levels I've seen in this are ~185 (which I haven't bothered fighting).

Yeah, I know, I dont hve the highest ranking roster out there, but I do well with what I have. Don't forget, it's about the MMR ranking + community ranking in this and previous events.

I generally rank in the top 5 (most 1 or 2) in almost all events. PVP, PVE.

I made the mistake a long time ago (Hulk release Event or Invisible Woman release event) of grinding every node down to 1. That was bad, bad, bad.

Apprently, there is also a "secondary MMR penalty" in this prticular event, for Spidey/Mags abusers. Kind of like, "Oh yeah, you want to do that!? Here take these level 400s and see how your Spidey/Mags do than". With a side order of "dont forget to burn through those boosts - especially the ones that cost 100HP".

So, I said, okay. But, I dont use boosts and if I do, I only use the 3 x +1 blue/purple. icon_e_wink.gif Take that level 400s! Of course, if they let me bring Punisher along. Mind you Steve rogers and HT have began to receive my affection quite highly.

My level 60 (100 boosted), 4 Red HT does 1800 damage with a fireball and his 3 Black ticks for round 700. icon_e_smile.gif

Stevey at level 50 (85? boosted) hits for 2100+ with his 5 red and returns 10 Red AP (for a loss of 1 red). So 20K+ goes down relatively quick.

I haven't checked out your roster, but am now curious...

Also, as stated above, hve not checked out your roster, but, Covers VS. Levels. Levels help damage in the long run, but covers (in some cases) increase output significantly.

I'm envious of those super-organized alliances that have all their event results proudly listed on their front page. I think it's too late for me to straighten up. I believe we scored the alliance cover on every PVE and PVP since alliances started with a few exceptions:
There was one black psylocke alliance reward. One of our members got sandboxed at the very last moment.
The normal modes on the recent Heroic Venom. Yechh...

I don't know how high we've ever gotten. I don't we've ever made top50 yet. But someone can correct me if I'm wrong. If you want, you can re-read all 20+ pages of our forum thread and discern our placings... icon_e_wink.gif
