Is there any other strategy that might work?
I got through on GSBW, Daken Classic and black panther
Save all powers until I had a build up... Sniper ready with a little extra green as I built up deceptive tactics for fire sniper straight away again. While building this I got black panther ready to fire off rage of panther and daken ready with chemical reactions - fired tgen one after the other and then the panthers battleplan to start hatching again and wham gone
This worked great for me, thanks!0 -
SIM 40
The best team for this appears to be Daken Patch Loki. Wait until you've got green and black enough to cast and then hit Blade or CMag with Patch's green. Then cast Loki's black to turn Thing's shield tiles into some pretty sweet strike tiles. If you're lucky, you'll be able to switch some of blade's red strike tiles into shield tiles at the same time and/or and have enough black saved up to turn CMag's shield tiles against him too.0 -
I haven't seen this in the thread yet, but you may find the Gauntlet easier if you leave the essentials for last.0

Just curious what everyone else did for 38. I'm assuming an enemy tile negator like daredevil/doc ock or Loki for the eventual Mostorm attack0

I believe I took Daken, Cage and Fist and took out storm first. Loki won't help you against Storm's tiles.0 -
For sim 38 I took GSBW/Cyclops/DocOc with boosts you can get some very long cascades going with some high direct and team dmg attacks. Only use Oc for his blue after storm casts her attack tiles.0

For those that might be helped by it, I went KK/LDaken/SWitch on Node 42 after banging my head against the wall and coming close with Beast/CMarvel/DD (all boost squad). I read about my folks having success with IF, but mine isn't maxed - the aforementioned squad won EASILY with + 50% b/g and b/p.0

I beat node 42 with Steve, hood, and 2 star mags, all colors boosted. Focused on denying black and acquiring pink to load up blue and populate red. Took out xfw first with two red shields, then kept red/blue shields in rotation on xfd. Thoress never had a chance. The only power they fired was xfd black retaliation when I hit xfw with the first red shield.0

For 35, I used Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Scarlet Witch.Make the board black and Jab, Jab, Cross to victory.. an Uppercut or 2 won't do any harm either. Just use JJC to prevent from getting more than 12, so IFoKL can convert tiles to instead of punching. Target KK, Cyclops and then Mr Fantastic
This time, I decided to do the main route first and ignore the essential nodes. And it's a good thing that I did. After beating Simulation 41, I didn't see any 395s, not even in 42 or the last essential node. After beating 42, 4 nodes became 395s. After completing the 3rd map, 9 nodes became 395s. Ranked 168 in fmftint's bracket (currently only 3470 players).
I'm now making my way back to beat the rest of the essential nodes. This could be the hardest Gauntlet so far, and I think it's probably because of the 5*s in people's rosters, creating problems with their personal scaling.
The target who??? I have Loki as third!0 -

This worked so well, I barely had ANY damage to the team. Good board draw, but still a good mix against this lineup. I targeted Iceman then Mostorm and switch0 -
Any tips for sim 39? Come close but no luck0

im missing deadpool.
i know the 4* progression reward is out of reach, but is the patch cover reward possible?0 -
Hi All,
I have cleared the Gauntlet with a huge scaling (SIM42 level 395).
My best teams for this event were :
Depending opposites characters, high PV char and / or strike generators :
3 team :
Hulk tanking all colors, green generated then fire (be careful, you can't get more than 30 green AP, don't wait for a one -shot turn)
Main team
(5/0/2 lvl 168)
focus on star lord's yellow. Matching yellow as soon as possible then, get 3AP skills for IF's purple and Daken's Blue.
If needed, i have done rotation with some of them :
but wasn't very useful in fact0 -

Anyway, you're right. I targeted, KK , then Cyclops and Loki last. Thanks for the correction1. We'll be gathering for IF anyway, so Loki shouldn't be able to cast Illusion and allow KK to heal the team. Avoid making match-4s or 5s, unless we can see they would lead to massive cascades and fuel our powers enough to down Loki in the same turn.
2. KK's heal with 5 covers is really annoying to deal with and her Bash hurts the whole team, so she's my priority here.
3. Between Cyclops and Loki, Cyclops is going to hurt me more, so he's second.
4. Loki then can be mischievous all he want as the last target.
Thanks for posting the further instructions on this - I still can't get past it but will keep on trying - the opposition is at level 292 - anyone sitting that high at this node??0 -
Not sure if anyone else noticed this but you don't have to finish all the essentials to get the cover.
Obviously completed all the standard nodes deciding to keep the essentials till last. Did the 6 essentials on stage 3. Purposely doing the hardest first. When i completed the jg/4clops/xfw essential i had enough points to get full progression. Still leaving all essentials from the first 2 stages untouched.
Edited for typos.0 -
The gauntlet is probably tons of fun when you have a well covered roster, for transitioners like me it's just too much to ask. The second event in a row I have to write off now <sigh> Couldn't do previous event due to transitioning, can't do this one due to transitioning and PVP's are out of reach for a transitioner as well. Man transitioning sucks0
-
transitioning is the whole game
still not sure how far im able to go, my roster is halfway decent, but playing against lvl 150 4* with a newly recruited quicksilver (because he wasnt worth the slot to me) is .... jup, just too much to ask.0 -

The PX cover is a reward from sub 3. You must complete all essentials in sub 3 to get it. Nowhere was it mentioned you needed to clear essentials from sub 1 or 2, as those are separate rewards (gold token and QS cover).ammenell wrote:still not sure how far im able to go, my roster is halfway decent, but playing against lvl 150 4* with a newly recruited quicksilver (because he wasnt worth the slot to me) is .... jup, just too much to ask.
I did them all with a 0/0/1->0/1/1 Quicksilver. It can be done with 3* with good synergy (and a boatload of luck, unless you happen to have a few hundred k of whale points stored up, which I didn't.).0 -
My biggest problem with the Gauntlet is the effort vs the reward. I am a two star transitioning into 3 star player. I have almost all the three stars except for 5 or 6 (:kamala:, , , , , maybe one other). My 3*s on average have 5-7 covers with some less. The stronger ones I leveled up closer to my 94 2*s. The weaker ones I just left as is. Right now I am at node 35 with , , and . I haven't tried it yet. They are scaled at 171 so far. My roster is only so varied. My mainstay team in this has been using classic as tank because he has been boosted to 160 and either and OBW, or MNmags and Mstorm.
I feel I am doing very well for my roster but the scaling is a bit high for my roster level. The thing is while boosted characters can be quite awesome they actually really hurt a level 94 player. At least it feels like it. I have XFDP, CDaken, and Marvel as my top 3 and they are 160,163, and 130ish. However I feel that it means my enemies have scaled up too quickly. I think for for a PVE that I shouldn't encounter these high levels until very close to the end and maybe some lvl 200 to clear the essentials.
So far for my effort after countless health packs and trying different strategies I have a Quicksilver and a 2* Torch as a reward. I don't feel that I have accomplished anything for my effort. I don't feel rewarded and I am not encouraged to spend money on roster slots where D3 earns a lot of its money. I can place usually top 50 and sometimes top 10 in PVE events. I put as much effort into them as higher ranked players even though my scaling is less I have less of a roster choice and it takes me longer to grind down nodes. So in a 3 day PVE event I can get a legendary token plus 2 to 3 3* covers for my effort. Same with a 7 day but that is another issue. I know I'm not able to get Professor X due to too high scaling even though I have all the essentials. I know I probably won't get the Patch cover. I can maybe get the Daredevil cover but that's a big maybe. So my rewards for such a huge amount of effort is one Quicksilver and a 2* Torch. Awesome. Thanks D3 I feel like it's Christmas.
The sad thing is they cant even adjust event parameters on the fly. They just have to let them run. I thought this was 2015? We are waiting on their new system to supposedly make leveling up the best way to go but hey I can't level up until I get more covers and I am not going to level them up until I have at least 4-5 good ones covered. Instead how about looking at the average level of the top 7 or 8 characters instead of the top 3 and continue to work on your system for getting people to stop soft capping on purpose to make PVE easier. I am loving the challenge of the Gauntlet. It's hard and I'm forced to think of strategies and which character to take down first. It's great but I want a shot at finishing it and not run into huge scaling at the beginning of the third event. Don't make me want to throw my hands in the air and just walk away because my effort was for nothing. Don't make me feel like I lost 6 days.0 -
My experiences so far:
I only have 3* in the usable range; got a few 4* characters but at most 5 covers in em or so, so not really useful except my 1/3/1 XFW (well, outside of the gauntlet at least he has its uses). Even in the 3* territory I'm not a giant, having only recently max covered my first char, Punisher (not max leveled tho).
I've been relying mostly on my 5/2/5 Hulk and 5/4/3 gsbw, complemented by either 5/5/2 cmags or 3/5/3 black panther. Sometimes my 5/3/0 Daredevil or 5/5/1 classic spidey assisted as well.
Mostly it's just been Hulk tanking and generating green, building up for GSBWs sniper shot. Simulation 36 was fun especially, the scaled Iron Fist's passive attack tile was just strong enough to trigger Hulk's anger each round, that was over in no time at all. Some levels took a few tries if I got unlucky, because even though I got no 5* covers to screw my scaling, the 'Global domination' nodes started already 20+ levels above my max level.
The ones I struggled with mostly so far:
* Simulation 35: ~L200 KK / 3* Cyclops / Loki. They destroyed my team multiple times until I decided to throw in a whale TU. Kamala Khan bursthealed for nearly 1000 points each time a power was triggered, and Cyclops' powers were devastating each time
* Simulation 38: ~L225 Switch / Iceman / Mostorm : stuns and criticals, not to mention Storm's hailstorm to turn the board into ~1500 worth of pain each round. Pulled through eventually with a favourable board and cmags as my #3.
* Simulation 41: ~L245 PX / Daken / X23. The key here was using Spidey as my wingman, to fire some stuns at opportune times, especially after downing Daken and PX (I really didn't want to see X23 unleashed, with her healing passive and high damage).
Although sim 42 (the 'final' node) was also hard (~level 248), I used the same tactic as sim 41 (GSBW/Hulk/Spidey) and was able to stunlock the final parts of the match after the AI had accumulated enough AP to fire their big powers, enabling me to gather enough red/green AP for Sniper/Pistol shots to finish the match.
In a stroke of luck I received both Quicksilver and 4* Deadpool from the event tokens I gained by playing the gauntlet, so hopefully I can manage to beat the final required nodes and rake in a shiny Professor X cover.0
