This tourney is just insane. The best match I can get is about 27 pts and while I'm in that, I lose 85-125 because I'm worth more than 40 pts in some games. I hope to crack top-100 and am currently shielded at 87th with 912 pts. I barely managed to shield before getting hit with another 90 pts. I had one player hit me for 39 pts and when I went to retaliate, he was worth 9.

I'm screwed when the "victory bonus" goes through. I'll always be -10 ISO because it's not worth grinding the dozens of 10-15 pt matches that will turn into major losses on retaliation. Not to mention that I get the same opponents repeatedly coming up. Hint, if I skip them once, I'm probably going to skip them the next five times they come up.

And they claim this is funbalanced. What's the fun of playing multiple matches for a zero-sum gain? They really should give you a chance to recoup what you lose in retaliation. That would discourage low-ranked players from cherry-picking high-ranked ones. Or they should get rid of losing points altogether. I could take funbalancing that makes higher-ranked players score less for a win than lower-level players, but stop punishing players for doing well or playing early.

I also wonder how many of the top-100 are currently shielded. The entire top-10 is shielded and everyone from 81-90 is shielded as well. That makes it pretty impossible to move up if you can't attack anyone higher than you.

Gah. I managed to get a few queued up, did them as quickly as possible, shielded. Then 5 minutes later was notified of getting hit for like 40, and then five minutes after that, notified I was beat by josemartins for -26. I've got my retal queued up, but not happy one bit.

I want to vomit, cry, and scream all at once. I went to lunch shortly after I made the above post, and when I came back, I had a slew of attacked messages. Even though my screen shows me as being shielded (I have a screenshot I sent in with a support ticket) I have apparently been visible and unshielded for everyone else. I am now completely out of the running for third place, which is the only thing I cared about, and missed on sleep and spent hours trying to fight for this weekend. All gone in less than an hour. I sent in a ticket through the in-game system and an email, and I'll probably post in the Bugs forum as well, but I don't know how they can make it right at this point. Even if they refund me all of my points, there are almost certainly people who beat me who have leapfrogged past where I was previously. I don't want to go on playing the tournament at this point, but if they do refund me my points and I would still have the tiniest chance of getting third, then I want to keep going. I am devastated. I know it's just a game, and I'll be fine a week from now regardless of the outcome, but right now...

The other **** thing about it is I'm not the only one effected. If someone farmed me while my shield was bugged (which they have every right to do, I'm not mad at anybody who hit me) then they got a HUGE advantage over someone who happened to not be on during that feeding frenzy, I was high enough up that this could really change the outcome of the tournament for everyone.

I've been skipping matches in vain all day. Couldn't find you or Jose when you guys were unshielded. I'll settle for top 10 at this point, but 3rd place is soooo very close...damn this unending cycle of zeroes!!!

I'm hopeful that last few hours open up as people make those last desperate pushes.

Can't wait for the carnage tonight!

I just have issues with the matchmaking. I was sitting at #28 with 1024 points but only had the opportunity to fight for 5-9 points. Then my shield expired and withing 5 minutes i was down 300+ points. While i-m running in circles trying to get my points back i'm losing more than I'm gaining and i'm under 500 points. They should make it to where you're not getting gang r#p%d for your points when your shields expire. i fight 1 match for 5 minutes but lose 4 others and lose over 100 points. crazy

Sounds like the game might have steam sync issues which is why the banbot might be temporarily banning koolbiird as well.
I run on steam and I feel the game lags behind sometimes.

Man, I feel for you, I do. I play on the iPad and had the exact same thing happen on an earlier tournament, so that bug has been around for a while. Honestly, I can feel your pain given how much I've sunk into this tournament only to get slapped upside the head by this matchmaking bug. With real money being spent, these sorts of issues really are unacceptable and I'm sure not holding my breath for any sort of reimbursement. Really disappointing.

I just meant I would hulk smash my phone . I'm staying out of the elite tournaments, b/c all that one game then shield, skip, setup your queue doesn't appeal to me. I Good luck, though, and hopefully they make a nice peace offering to you.

I find there are less attacks if you break shield before it expires. Let's you start your attack(s) before your attackers can start theirs. Those 10-20 secs could be difference between losing 45 pts or being safely shielded when they register the losses. Also unless your first two wins are lightning quick, going for a third before re-shielding is a recipe for disaster, especially the higher ranked you are. Once you get into the top 20, you really need to execute rapid fire hit and runs in and out of shields.

If you're boosting, make sure you have those ready to go as well. you do not want to waste precious seconds reloading between matches while you are vulnerable.

I'm normally pretty level headed about this stuff, but if that happened to me, I would have certainly smashed my phone and immediately wrote an angry old man letter to Demiurge the likes of which would make Mickey Rooney look reasonable.

I mean, seriously.. I've always prided myself on never paying for F2P games -- I annihilated PvZ2 without incurring a cent. However, over the last few months I've spent an embarrassing amount of money on this title. Demiurge has beaten the pride out of my wallet like a meth-addled pimp. That being said, getting screwed out of time and money that way would probably be the end for me. I'm already getting pretty irate about this whole 0-point situation and that isn't as nearly as bad as your plight. I truly hope they compensate you appropriately.

I just saw this. That was hilarious.

I think I've nailed Jose more than the rest of the top 10 combined... He's always breaking shield, has a squishy spider-man, and I never see him post on the forums so there's no backlash.

I try to wait until he's shielded to avoid a retaliation, but that dude is restless... thankfully he hasn't tagged me yet as I let my shield marinate and absorb some attacks before breaking again.
