Morning, folks. I've been lurking down around 1000 since the start, just collecting ISO and managing my MMR. I'd like to think I can get to top 100. Can anyone tell me what the breakpoint is, pointwise, for top 100 right now? Thanks!

I'd say around 900. I am sitting at 975, 49th. I was at 911 before my push, 95th. Good luck to you, it is crazy up there. I cant even imagine at the top :shudder:
  • I keep checking see to see if we've been released from 0-point hell, but no dice. It's a sad state of affairs when you get excited about seeing a 2-point bout.

My latest match-up was against a level 1 IM35 and level 1 M. Black Widow. Yup.. just the two of them -- no third. How is that even possible? Can you enter the tourney before you have three characters on your roster??

If so, I don't know if it's more laughable that they dropped 300HP (obviously purchased) or that I'm being paired with them as an appropriate match.

I wish this screwed up MMR transferred to my other events.

    /sigh

    So it goes.

Thanks. I'm sitting at #541 with 678 points, with a three-hour shield. I'm going to need a lot of matches this afternoon to approach 900 before re-shielding!
  • I'm shielding it out at #30, no wait... #29... oops, I mean #30... hold on... #28... err, um... #31? no wait, #29 again.

If you aren't in the Top 15-20 now, making a run for the Top 10 is simply not feasible. I'm in 29th with 1022. No-one is closing a 300-500 pt. gap before the end of this one. I may not play even one more match, as people just above me seem content to unshield, push, and get knocked into the muck. I hope they keep doing that, I might get pushed up to 25th or so! 5K ISO difference - that's 2 whole levels for my IW! icon_eek.gif

You think that's regardless of where one is currently placed, or just for the top end? I'm staring at just over a 200-pt. gap to make the top 100.

EDIT: And I'm having no trouble finding 20-point matches, I should say (although I get hit fairly frequently).

Definitely not a tournament for Johnny come latelies... You better get off to a good start and shield your way up the entire the ladder. Trying to make a push now would be futile. Especially with the zero pt hell we're all trapped in up here...No incentive to break shield until the deadline approaches.

Making the Top 100 is doable, IMO, depending on your roster and willingness to shield. You have to gauge how many hits you're taking to determine if it's worth it. I'd say treat it as just an ISO farming exercise, and as a bonus if you manage to climb into 50th-70th range and have the HP to spend on a shield. If you turtled up at that rank with 3 hrs or 8 hrs to go you'd probably be good. It's the folks from 20th(ish)-50th trying to break the Top 10 that don't have a prayer.

Yup, I was just ISO farming for the first three days, hanging out around #2000, getting ISO and managing my MMR while I pushed in Blind Justice and...Best There Is (or whatever was right before Blind Justice; top 5 in Blind Justice and 1st place in the one before that, incidentally; go, me!). I started pushing this morning and am up around 500, with about an hour left on my lunch shield. I've got a chunk of time to play this afternoon before I'll use another three-hour shield to go to dinner with my daughter, and then either a mad dash or just a straight re-shield during the last hour. Top 100 will basically recoup my investment, even if I use two more three-hour shields.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm fighting with 81 Patch / 85 OBW / 64 Loki--definitely under-strength for this tourney, but I have yet to lose an attack. icon_twisted.gif

Any ideas as to how a 120 hulk / 120 punisher / 85 OBW team would do in this tournament? I'm considering grinding up to top 100 for some iso, but not sure if its doable in 6 hours given how my MMR was inflated from blind justice.

I hope they give the top 10 or 15 the 2-3 placement award for all this, we have all invested our time and HP to challenge in this event and its ending in such a disappointing way.

Ha. Haha. Ah hah. Ah hahaha. Hah hah hahahahahahaha. *snort* hahahahahahaha. Hah. Hooooo. Woo. Thanks. I needed a good long laugh. Phew.

Top 100 should be doable with that crew.

I'm sitting in 8th with 102 Patch / 98 Hulk / 96 Punisher and more HP spent on shields than I care to admit.

How has Patch been for you btw? I have a 3/5/5 Patch that could be leveled, and need to decide on whether or not I want to push Hulk/Punisher to 141 (which would mean that it would be extremely hard to level Patch up to that level after I do that), or start pumping iso into Patch to get him to 120. I haven't actually played with Patch in practice, but it seems like he has a lot of overlap with Hulk/Punisher, and needs to be built around.
  • finally sitting in top 10 (for now) lol. had a tag on jose from earlier. murlokotomka came out of nowhere this morning.

I love Patch. He's a one man wrecking crew. Pair him up with Lv5 Black Hulk and you've got a very thorny duo to contend with. Enemy strike tiles created by Patch help trigger hulk's anger which gets augmented by friendly strike tiles. I would wager 90% of my defensive wins come from an attacker failing to kill hulk in an efficient manner. I also like using IM40 as the third to load up Patch's red attack... when he recharges, the board will completely flip to Patch allowing you to oneshot just about anybody.

I rotate in Punisher for flexibility on Green/Red attacks (sometimes you dont' want to beserker rage when there are unmatchable purples scattered, or sometimes you want to off a high level Magneto quickly before he can translocate your ****) and Spiderman when I need to heal or counter an opponent's high level spidey.

oh i know. lol. i would be top 3 right now but some guy was able to hit me 4 times in 70 seconds yesterday afternoon. -_- I'm trying really hard not to bust out the cheater card but.. that's a little insane considering I never attacked him so none of them could have been retals. icon_e_sad.gif

The problem I was theorycrafting with Punisher/Hulk/Patch is that you have dead colors in blue/purple/yellow, so I was personally thinking that some other utility/dps in the future would be better to level than Patch to pair with my Punisher/Hulk. You seem to really like Patch though, so I guess I need to seriously think about whether or not I want to use him... He's a pretty good deterrent for defense, huh?
  • Not really.. Another Patch or a Mags can one shot him before he can get going... (9G and 14R can be tough to come by on an unfavorable board setup).

And Spidey with 5 blue covers pretty much removes any fear from the attack equation (although all that stunlocking is very time consuming)

Offensively he's a juggernaut though. If you want some Yellow/Blue coverage, iron man is your guy.

Patch/Spidey/Pun gives you rainbow coverage, but is quite squishy.

For defense I would go with Patch/IM40/Hulk -- Lot of HP to grind through and Patch regenerates at a frustrating rate.

For offense I prefer Patch/Punisher/Hulk -- I will be replacing Punisher with Mags as soon as I get him to an acceptable level (hopefully before he gets nerfed).

patch is certainly strong but not as a defensive deterrent imo. the characters that make me think twice before i attack are max magneto and max hulk. magneto has ohko potential on everyone in the game except hulk (i think) with 10 purple. And hulk is tanky. Since my team is pretty squishy (patch/spiderman/obw or punisher) those two scare me the most. a close third is a high level hood.

my two cents would be to pick one of punisher/hulk and bench the other for now, since your concern is maximizing ap color usage and they both use the same three.

Eh, I'm more of a defensive minded player so I guess I won't be going Patch then.
