As I said, I'm not recalling a situation where all of Squirrel's tiles were eliminated where I was the caster. And that's only 4.
Maybe it's not 99%, but 95%? 97%? Wouldn't surprise me. 5 tiles is a lot especially when you shouldn't be actively eliminating them yourself.0 -
Had 3 of mine survive today => the 3rd one going off caused the 3 generated yellow strike tiles to match...
Really, you can improve your odds by matching easy reds beforehand, just like you would if you were using AWolverine before you use feral strike. You don't need to cast it as soon as you get the AP.0 -
Pairing the CD tiles with someone like KK makes it easier to survive. Activate the CD tiles, then use KK's purple to turn all of the other tiles of that color into greens.
I've been doing it with Hulkbuster and SG. Save up green and blue (and black, but that's beside the point), then once her CD tiles are on the board, turn all of the other green tiles into reds.0 -
BlackBoltRocks wrote:Regarding a pairing of Ant-Man and Carnage, would you agree the best character to complete the trio is Blade (all at 3/5/5)?
At 5 purple (assuming maximum level for all), Scott creates 171 x 3 per turn, which is a total of 513.
At 5 purple for Blade, assuming you have at least 6 out (quite easy with Antman's ), that's 1012 x 2 , which is 2024. Antman would need at least four turns to match that damage, and what are the odds of the trap tile lasting that long? The damage done per turn (assuming all tiles stay on the board):
Scott
Turn 1: 3 . 513 damage
Turn 2: 6 . 513 + 513 = 1016 damage (cumulative is 1529)
Turn 3: 9 . 1539 damage (cumulative is 3168)
Turn 4: 12 . 2152 damage (cumulative is 5310)
Eric
Turn 1: 2024 damage
Turn 2: 2024 damage (cumulative is 4048)
Turn 3: 2024 damage (cumulative is 6072)
Turn 4: 2024 damage (cumulative is 8096)
Based on all these, it's pretty clear Blade's takes priority over Antman's. Plus you want Antman's and at max covers to steal Carnage's tiles and create as many strike tiles as possible respectively.
In purely 4* land, Kingpin's not only completes the rainbow, but is perfect for all the countdown tiles Antman creates. Hulkbuster also completes the rainbow, and his usual 5/5/3 build is perfect because you're gonna a) prioritise Antman's anyway and b) IMHB's will take priority over Carnage's.
And of course there's Elektra with a 3/5/5 build
Don't agree on Blade. If you are truly utilizing Carnage he's about red and with you matching it plus Carnage's black clogging the board, I don't see it really working well.
I think most people are overestimating AntMan's yellow. Imagine if World Rupture in its heyday only made 5 tiles and with CD3? Unless you pair AM with R&G or Sentry, you need lots of strike tiles out to do big dmg from Ants!3x.
If I'm using AM I want him pumping out dmg or helping create it. With Carnage you will be chasing Green and Blue for sure to set up your combo but purple and red would probably be your next 2 colors, only grabbing yellow if need be.
I just think saving up for 18 purple or blue to one shot a guy is my better option then just chipping away with yellow.
This is one of those, no "best-build " which means they got him right.
But with AM now, I'm strongly considering a 3/5/5 StarLord as SL's yellow allows you to 10k someone for 14 blue or purple
In fact I think with AM and some other new releases, SL's yellow has gotten stronger. 5/3/5 is his most damaging and 3/5/5 is his most supportive/disruptive 5/5/3 is probably best all around. SL, Carnage, AM could be a very strong combo0 -
After reaching 1000 in his PvP I can say from experience that Small-Time Crooks is a joy against Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Yes, please, keep handing me protect and attack tiles! Turns what might otherwise be a painful match or a long, tedious slog into good clean smashy fun.0

Man, Ant-Man and Patch are total BFFs. Not only do you get 5-color coverage between the two of them, but Scott gives not one but two ways to deal with the drawback on Berserker Rage. Drop a couple turns before you fire Berserker Rage to clog up all the purple tiles in advance (and get some powered-up attack tiles, too), and/or drop his at the same time to steal a few of the strike tiles back.
Plus, once you fire Berserker Rage, those ant bites start to HURT.
And yeah, Small-Time Crooks is awesome against Cage/IF.0 -
Finally got a couple videos out. I will be releasing a video of some team up potentials some time next week I hope, but I am super busy at work, so probably won't have time.

Hard to say having just played the 1/1/1 loaner and a couple of pve nodes with antman, but I may be targeting 5/5/3 for antman.
Yellow looks like another low-cost power that has enough complications that you won't often be able to cast it quickly and levarage its speed. plus its speed is further offset by its delayed effect. There aren't many challenging matches where I have the luxury of collecting 7 yellow, making sure that there are 5 basic reds on the board in a relatively safe configuration, and can babysit 3-5 of those countdowns until they resolve. It's an even harder to use version of squirrelgirl's green (which is a fun power, but hardly dominant).
So it seems like antman might be better used as a a playmate for patch, or a special tile specialist at 5/5/3. And if you DO happen to get 18 purple or blue, you can drop the enemy of your choice (probably)0 -
I have been playing my ant-man ( 3/ 5 /5 right now) and I like him but all of his abilities are so fragile it can get frustrating. 5 yellow rocks when 3 of the 5 don't go to a 'red match' waiting to happen. His purple is fantastic, unless it has filled all the purples already and then it doesn't do anything (or the opponent has spiderman or bullseye clogging purples). His blue his bonkers with Carnage or against IF/Cage combo's, but if it gets matched or destroyed quickly then it did nothing.
So, he sure doesn't fill like HB where you get red and win And sometimes I feel like I am tinkering around too much trying to get 'grow' while the other team is wrecking me with spells that actually do something.
With that said, I am still working on playing him correctly. Up to this point I usually focus on straight damage hero's so my mind isn't set to see blue and purple tiles. One thing I do like is he doesn't take much time to recharge after taking damage. Seems to get to full life incredibly fast (he is only level 130 right now, so maybe that is why).0 -

playing my 5/5/3 Antman in Fist Bump, my new priority against IF/Cage is getting 9 blue, then i'll sit back and watch them feed me attack and protect tiles(3/5/5 IF is almost 1k per attack tile) and it's just....the best. He's also the best running mate with Carnage, who's just....awesome for hopping, not so much for climbing unless you have a better red to use. Ant-Man though is a totally solid character, good support, if you happen to get the necessary AP for his Grow he can take down every 3*(except hulk) to under 1k health at 5 covers maxed.0

Ant-man's purple trap tile... I dunno why but the game goes through phases, where over several days, it doesn't matter if I lower the chances of the purple trap tile being matched by matching as many purples as I can before hand. The AI will always find a way to remove it by creating a cascade, causing a row elimination by a 4 or greater matcher or overwriting it with something. It will consistently over a few days immediately match my purple trap tile the very turn after I placed it, thus wasting my 9 AP.... Yeah it gets highly irritating when it just keeps happening
Then for maybe a match or two the purple trap tile can last an entire match without getting matched but after that it will go back to the original phase of the AI destroying that trap tile almost immediately after its been placed.
Heck it's happened so often that honestly I think ant man is better built 355 than 535 unless you want to build up 18 purple AP all the time!0 -

His yellow is definately the star ability, primarily due to the low cost and the fact there aren't a huge amount of "good" yellow attack abilities out there. Granted you may not see all the tiles resolve its full countdown, but of all three abilities, it causes least frustration as the other two abilities can be matched or removed almost instantly after you placed them by the AI; unless of course you choose to save up 18 AP to use the growth ability0 -
So with ant man blue at 5 you can basically just activate enemy Thing's yellow on purpose and then steal those tiles for yourself over and over while the count down lasts. It also removes the downside of targeting a more important character than Thing.0

Added a rarely occurring alternate roster pose for Scott in today's update.0

haha saw it.. I was wondering myself why is antman shrinking when I am selecting him. Ant man fan here !0

and this is te way to fix antman .. put grow ability on 1-3 ap ( or ap price depends on cd tile - 2 rounds left, = 2ap )0

Yeah I was going to say exactly the same.
Ant man is really strong char, he is not IMHB or as easy to use as Jean, but having two different abilitties that can do 10k for 19 is quite strong, then of course these abilities also create attack tiles and steal any special tile the other team has and he has a third ability that it is just 7ap and it is good too so, not strong enough?!?!?
If we dont see more Antmans in PvP is just because he is still not as good as those other two, and he is not as popular, so most people still has to max him. It is a little bit like Kingpin which is also very good but you do t see him so often.
The only thing I dont like about him is that purple is a trap tile, it is nice that the enemiy doesnt know where it is, and that it has infinite duration, but I dont know why but my enemies always keep overwritting it in no more than two turns, and when you fight Bullseye in allmost every fight in PvE is really a bummer.0
