Huh, this might not take as long as I thought.

I just had my essentials reset. Our alliance started Round 6, and I did two Ultron's, and two essentials. After beating a 3rd Ultron, my essentials were all unlocked again. I'm not sure what triggered it.

But it's apparently possible to unlock your essentials so that you don't have to wait the 8 hours.

I'm not sure what did it. Anyone else have this happen?

They rotate every 8 hours automatically, so yeah, there's a window where if your alliance can unlock a level just before noon, 8pm, or 4am EST, you can sneak in some extra clears.

Just wiped hard on Round 4 node. wth?

LCap is garbage, he can't get his protect tiles out fast enough

Patch gets downed quick, i've never seen so many cascades and crits before.

So long as you get the gunner quick it shouldn't be much of a problem, gunners are the only ones that can actually hurt you. If you have a good Luke Cage he does a lot of work negating pretty much all the damage, just focus on the special tiles and you will take a max of like 100 damage a round. I am on round 5 and am not having anything resembling a problem yet.

thanks for the tip. My icon_lukecage.png still need 1 more blackflag.png and 61k iso8.png but maybe @140 he can still do something useful. His yellowflag.png is great if you can muster up 13 yellowtile.png

On my second go I just focused on getting icon_loki.png the blacktile.png he needed as Patch will get his green no matter what. After that it was all 1 dmg icon_e_biggrin.gif and that strategy has been carrying me through these survival nodes.

    icon_wolverine.png Patch icon_loki.png FTW

Didn't see it in here, but I'm hearing word that you can continue to earn progress points even after your alliance "beats" this thing. Just FYI.

Edit: NO IT FREAKING DOESNT!!!!! BAD INFO!

So looking at some quick back of the napkin math.

    Optimally, 20 members x 6 hits x 3 times a day x 4.5 days + 7 unlocks (which resets everything) = 2460 hits of Ultron available.

I didn't write down exact health numbers for Ultron, but from what I do have (and guessing on level 8), it's about 850 hits to clear the whole thing.

So defintely doable at a leisure pace, so long as there is full cooperation. Can be done with as little as 7 playing optimally.

I'm expecting first alliances done by tomorrow night, roughly.

    Edit: Adding the progression reward.

One full clear of every level gets to around 750k. With an extra clear at level 7 and 8, you have your million. Again, reachable as long as you can unlock the last level (see above) and participate consistently.
6,7,8 are still going to take a long time to clear as an alliance.

A 'perfect' alliance, one where everyone hits Ultron immediately upon refresh and clears optimally can finish all three levels in 8 hours + the time to clear the 2nd pass.

Since there are some already reporting they're on level 7 already, I imagine there's a few that are hitting it that efficiently. To say nothing of the fact people are posting rumors of what happens after level 8 already, which implies there might be a couple who are finished now.
  • Our alliance started 7 today and is more than halfway finished it. Unless there's a massive hit point jump between 7 and 8, we're going to probably finish middle of the day tomorrow. I'm currently just shy of 500k and in the middle of the alliance. I wasn't able to do much yesterday due to work; I played a little at lunch, but I think we were through at least 3 rounds before I even got home.
  • What are you guys rockin against the big man himself?

At round 6, I'm going 50/50 with Patch/Loki/XXX. It is really the luck of the draw for me, and if Illusions works in my favor or not.

LCap, Thor and Cyclops. LCap can stop those bombs. Cyclops generates red for shield bash and black for damage. Thor for damage too. All of them has lots of HP too to absorb damage

In Round 7 and so far things have been good. Here's what i've been using. Most of them are around level 130 - 137 (unboosted) except for QS (lvl 40 unboosted) and Mnmags (94).

    Ultron node:
    3* Cap 3/5/5
    Cyclops 5/5/3
Mnmags 5 purple 4 Blue/red / used Hood in earlier rounds to steal AP

Everyone to generate red and blue for Cap to reduce Ultron's health and override his Drop tiles. Match Drop tiles. So far so good

    Essential nodes

    1) Hulk 5/4/3
    I use 3* Thor 3/5/5 and Laken 5/4/4
Grab green and yellow. Destroy special tiles to prevent Core Meltdown. Use Daken to absorb some of the damage. I suppose those with Kamala Khan with 3 to 5 covers in purple could use her as well but since she's quite poorly covered in my roster...

    2) Quicksilver (at least 1 in each colour)
    Spiderman 3/5/5
    GSBW 5/3/5
Grab purple and green for protect tiles, create green and sniper rifle. Use QS idle hands to make match 5. Use Spidey's yellow to temp heal. Spidey can minimise a lot of the actual damage on your characters. GSBW's Pistol to clear special tiles.

EDIT: I also won a node with a half dead Spidey and QS after GSBW went down halfway through the 1st node (she went in with half her health). So don't underestimate Spidey and QS.

EDIT 2: Made a mistake. It was a half dead Thor, not GSBW.

    3) Iron Man (im40 4/5/3)
    3* Thor and Laken
    GSBW and Spiderman
Strategy as above. Except Red can be used for IM40 but i dont like using it as it causes you to lose AP in the other colours

    4) 3* Thor
    GSBW and Spiderman
    Hulk and Laken

    5) Captain America
    Same with Ultron node

    6) Hawkeye (4/5/4)
    GSBW and Spiderman
Fortunately not many of Hawkeye. He doesn't do much except generate speedshot tiles which get matched away or destroyed by Sentries.

    7) Widow (i use GSBW)
    Thor and Spiderman

    Ultron Prime nodes

In the earlier nodes i used Patch (4/4/5), Laken and Blade (4/5/4). The later nodes (5 & 6) i used Xforce (4/5/4), 3* Thor and Laken. Again, so far so good.

Most of the times i end up using a total of 3 to 4 health packs but since it takes me about an hour to complete all the Ultron nodes (except Prime) i end up with 2 Health packs remaining at the end.

    Hope this helps someone icon_e_smile.gif

I've been using xf/rogers/cage against Ultron. The dominant color for ultron is black, and frequently a lot of black tiles appear on the board for an effective surgical strike. Occasionally I get lucky w/ xf green and knock out the drop tile. Rogers I use his blue and red attacks to overwrite drop tiles. Cage's protect tile reduces drop tile dmg, and his yellow is also good for a few thousand worth of dmg.

Twice so far today my 1st Quicksilver node did NOT unlock Ultron! Any one have a clue why? This type of glitch better not cost us any covers, or I'll be more grumpy than that one cat!

The board doesn't favor any particular color but since Ultron does a massive board shake every turn (destroying 8 tiles is more than what a lot of abilities can do) you're bound to get one that is heavy in black sooner or later, and unlike most board shaking moves you know exactly what tiles he's getting rid of so it's even easier to prepare for a good Surgical Strike.

One time I did an X Force and it dropped 3 bombs directly to the bottom. I'm pretty sure I couldn't have defused those 3 bombs but it still hurt a lot.

Might've missed it in the sea of posts for this event, but is the 2nd part of this for Hulkbuster Rewards pretty much the exact same as this and simply starts over on Wednesday? Any noteworthy changes?

Well, they say Scarlet Witch will be key so I assume she talks the place of Quicksilver but otherwise it sounds like the same thing.

Running GSBW, LThor and Modern Hawkeye for the Ultron rounds, rarely get hit for more than a couple of bombs, and yet to fail with that team, speed shot all over the place. We're only on round 5 at the moment.

Sometimes you have to clear two essentials to unlock the boss Ultron node. I haven't been paying attention to see if it is the QS node or is random, but it definitely doesn't unlock with every essential completion

yeah, sometimes it takes me 2 essential clears to unlock the middle. My alliance managed to unlock round 8 overnight. I've done 2 full clears and broke 1,000,000 points this morning. The last ultron has 6 mil health and will take a while to clear, but we still got plenty of time left. icon_cool.gif
