  • This is just bizarre. I was seeing 235+ level teams right out of the gate in Heavy Metal, and started to rack up heavy point losses on defense at 150-200. Now, in Teenage Riot, I've hit 500+ points on the backs of underleveled 2*s, and I've taken a total of 1 hit on defense.
It seems like the MMR change only affected the IM40 pvp.

Except the behavior I'm seeing in Teenage Riot isn't like what I saw before Heavy Metal either. I'm still seeing underleveled 2*s at 500+, and I'd have seen 166s by this point prior to this season. It's just deeply weird all over.
  • still seeing all 166 in sim. at 0 points

It's amazing that the devs haven't said ANYTHING about this. Even something along the lines of, there were expected issues with the weekend match making and they are investigating, or the system was working as intended. But silence isn't acceptable

Something similar happened when they last destroyed the MMR for an event. Speculation is that the "hidden" part of the "old" MMR (that learned what kind of team you can handle, and that seems to update from event to event) is reset, so your "scaling" is only based on the current event, and it's very slow to pair you up with 4*s. If I remember right it becomes less weird over 700.

    They're probably still on vacation.

Seems like I am seeing lower level teams that are worth 30-40 to me in the Kamala Khan pvp versus the max level opponents worth 20-24 to me in heavy metal. Either they ditched the new matchmaking or it has some really strange quirks.

Launching new mechanics/features then leaving for an extended weekend is amatuer night

Actually it's more like 4 amateur days and 3 amateur nights

Icex is logged onto the forums, maybe we'll see something soon

    I see you too Dave
  • I voted for: I don't see a difference, but that's not completely true. The transition from fighting placeholder teams to full 94's and higher comes quicker.

I get attacked just as much as before, I loose just as many points in those attacks and I still end up seeing teams vastly superior to my own. So basically the same as before, only somehow worse as the climb up (to the 4-500 point range) takes longer then before.

They're still trying to find all their easter eggs...
  • It would be nice to have some sort of response from the red names, even if it's just, "We're still tabulating what happened and will have an official response soon." I don't feel like I've got a sense of this being the system going haywire, working as intended, taking a PVP to adjust, or just that they forgot to turn it on for the second PVP. Their answer to this is going to determine how I treat PVP going forward, in all likelihood, and I"d like to know if or when something's coming.

Weird, with 667 posts I wouldn't think you're new here, but well....

I feel very much like the odd man out here, because if there hadn't been an announcement on the board I wouldn't have noticed anything especially odd about the matchmaking in Heavy Metal at all. With a team of four 166s and a bunch of fully covered level 100s, I saw L94 teams out of the gate, which is normal, mid-level 3* teams around 200-300, and didn't run into a full-on run of 166s until I'd crossed 550 or so – but even then, reasonable targets weren't hard to find. The big change was that point values were tiny between 150 and 400 points. I don't think I found anybody who was worth 25 in that span, and most of my fights were for 12-18 points.

I only started getting hit by more than very occasional attacks when I got above 500 points. Going unshielded overnight at 502, I took 5 incoming attacks with two defensive wins, for a net gain of three points.

    I'm thinking Purple Khan's as compensation icon_lol.gif

And I'd like someone to buy me a Tesla, and I think the two are about equally likely.

You must have been put into the "easy" mmr bracket if that was your experience. There were two tracks, in one track, people fought predominately sub 166s teams, had easier matches but struggled to find teams that were worth many points. The other track faced maxxed 270s after the seed teams, but finding points was super easy (you could get 49 point matches right from the get go)

Don't forget, started taking hits below 200 points. It became a blood bath as soon as you cleared seed teams

Yeah, I got to 800 before I started getting hit. Things look normal once again.
