Regardless of the problems with this set of character updates (and there are many), if this community is at all serious about this being Women of Marvel month or even pretending to have any respect for the women who play the game this guy needs a ban from posting on the forums.0 -
I would briefly suggest demiurge is not collectively stupid nor ignorant as to how their game works. I would also suggest there is a business model (in theory) in which you release new characters with seemingly disproportionately advantageous skills and then nerf once their sales drop off. Now compare the near-certainty that those two statements are true to the evolution of characters in this game.0

I wonder if the noticable drop in effort in the top of my PvE bracket is related to these stellar changes......
Spent the last hour being annoyed about this **** rather than doing a proper final grins and still 1st in my imminently ending Florida Sub0 -
Wow what a joke!
So not only do you kill Polarity Shift's blue creation ability, but you throw some 'random' red tile creation in that will invariably replace whatever blue tiles I would hope to use with the 3 blue tiles I'm now stuck with.
Instead of messing with a character no one asked to be ruined. Maybe you Devs could address this topic: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25222 instead.
And while you're at it, look into Scaling and the problems with PvP.0 -

It's been stated the red does not override any blue matches made. It probably follows this pattern: Place blue, resolve all cascades, throw out red. Specifically it does this to avoid the exact scenario where the red cancels out the blue.0 -
Terrible. This is a real kick in the nuts for 2* players runnning stormneto to be competitive in PVE. Why should new players pick up this game when you are killing their best combo? It would have been better to just Nerf Mystique who isnt used outaide combo anyway.0

I'd agree with you if 4*s actually beat 3*s in usefulness. This game just seems...random(in terms of balance).0 -
Am I the only one who feels that Ragnarok is still meh?
His green, for the same cost as LThor, deals less damage to enemies and hits allies as well.
His red, for 2 less AP, deals 1000 less damage and changes 1 additional tile.
His blue for 4 less AP, deals 2500 less damage, heals Rags for 1800 and changes 3 tiles to green, instead of 9 tiles to green as LThor does.
We don't have many heroes that produce blue, so I'm certain some will find a use for him, but for me he is a weaker LThor. I think I'll stay with my XF/LThor/IF who work fine as a team and skip the hunting for Rag's blue covers.0 -

Most other games that have taken that approach (especially when it involves real money) tend to receive major backlash with the hardcore community leaving. Riot takes a lot of player feedback and gradually scales back champions deemed overpowered (and keep in mind most of these characters are purchased with in game currency so it doesn't sting as bad when the nerfs come).
Believing that D3 is not at least partially ignorant as to how their game works is foolish. If one of the developers was tasked with taking first place in a PvE and/or PvP tournament I believe constructive changes would've happened a long time ago. Seeing how a new character's abilities interact with every other character in the game can be pretty challenging too and it wouldn't surprise me if a bunch of unforeseen things fell through the cracks. I'd rather they take the Riot approach with soft nerfs and waiting a few weeks to see how things pan out rather than the heavy handed approach.
In terms of Blizzard and World of Warcraft, I recall hearing that the developers acknowledged they were nowhere near as good at the game as top players, so for dungeon alpha testing they'd tweak it to numbers they could beat, then increase everything across the board by something like 25%.0 -

I just faced him in pve and had to face his blue power...All he managed to do was charge green tiles which I used to super charge xforce and win very quickly. I have to admit, the first time I saw the animation I was like oh shhhh...then I saw the result and was like really? Thanks I guess rags.0 -

I'm frustrated the best part of this patch will be Rags killing his teammates/giving you AP/Damage(AKA making PVE easier)0 -

No, they actually made him worse. Green production is by far better, and his green was cheap and nice board shakeup. I'm not sure what he is supposed to do now, other than produce blue for other characters.0 -
I just got a Lightning Rod TU, and all I can think is why is this available? Because it makes 3 charged green? I can't hark a guy who isn't there
Lightning Rod - Cost: 8
Ragnarok hurls his hammer into the thunderclouds, where it absorbs the power of the storm. Creates 1 Green Charged tile. Catching the hammer charges the cyborg with electricity, giving him a burst of 312 health.
Level 2 - Creates 1 Charged tile. Ragnarok heals 371 health.
Level 3 - Creates 2 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 371 health.
Level 4 - Creates 2 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 480 health.
Level 5 - Creates 3 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 552 health.
MAX Level 5: Creates 3 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 1754 health.0 -

No, what I'm saying is that with the 3 tiles I get to select, chances are I'm going to want to match them up with existing blue tiles for greater effect (like taking two existing blue tiles to make a match-5), but now I bet the AI will 'randomly' select those tiles to be changed to red thus screwing up any Match-5's I might still try to create.
Further more,"Our next character update is to Magneto (Marvel NOW). Magneto has been in the game since we launched and has been part of a lot of powerful combos in that time. Recently he’s been the key to an infinite-turn combo with Mystique, which we don’t think is a good thing to have in the game. As a result we decided to update his Purple ability: Polarity Shift to make infinite turn combos harder to achieve, while preserving the unique strategy of the power, carefully choosing a bunch of tiles to convert."0 -
Wow and I just bought an asgard treasure to get 2 IF covers too.
Thanks, D3. Can I just ask for a refund for my money, then.
Most upset about 4hor though. Most upset. This was completely unnecessary, and proof that D3 spends way too much time listening to whiners going on about nerfs and OP chars when they're not actually OP.
I look forward to beating level 300 Ares in PVE with...nothing.
That said, bring on the new meta PVP game of XF/IF?0 -
please look at the accounts of the people who are the most upset about the 4* Thor nerf on this forum. it's not hard, i recognize their in-game names as the same as their forum names. i'm sure you'll find them to be your top spenders.
i spent money on Thor, which is why i am speaking out like this, but looking at their rosters i'm small potatoes compared to them. i wonder how many business owners wake up in the morning and say, how am i going to piss off my most valuable customers today?0 -
I don't know what's worse, how out of touch with this vibrant community D3 seems to be or the Great Ignoring that's followed this announcement.0

There's so much to complain about but there's one thing that makes zero sense and that is fake healing. Why are new burst healing abilities still being released? I know she hulk came out roughly when the change happened and beast might have already been in the pipeline and the older ones would still need some work before being replaced, fine. But how the tinykitty are any new abilities being designed as if that's viable skill type. The 70 pages deep true healing topic might be locked but apparently it shouldn't be.0

That perspective was easier to accept a few weeks ago, but anyone who even read IF purple on paper knew it was overpowered. No need to test at all. It did not take any advanced knowledge to see that at first glance. Seems really unlikely demiurge didn't know it too.
But I'm willing to accept you're right. But it means spending hundreds of hours of your life playing a game organized by people who do so in a haphazard, ill-informed manner.
And I'm really not saying it's one way or the other. (I have no idea). It's just pretty hard to keep believing the "whoops" line (in a game that generates top 100 income in Apple App Store (ahead of the New York Times =c)).0 -
