  • Been playing (and paying) since day one. This is going to be the first time where I won't have enough points to get a cover of a newly-introduced character. Sucks that I'm being penalized for joining the event when it started while newcomers are way ahead of me in points. I've tried tanking and it's just time consuming. This pattern of not well-thought-out game mechanics is damning. All the recent decisions and unannounced nerfs this game is making are really off-putting. The writing is on the wall. Don't know how long I'm sticking around after this. Give me a reason to continue playing (there's an "L" in that word by the way).
  • The Who is a free 2000 points if you've a halfway respectable team.

The rest of the missions should be easy to get to around the level 100 range and then just beat them straight up.

I have no idea why the dying trick isn't working for most people. Right now I just roll out Yelena/MBW/Hawkeye on Crime Boss and have them all die in about 15 seconds whenever they're alive. My placement on the sub bracket is like 3/2/2/1/1 so it's not like I'm doing less missions than most people. I'm #24 in my main bracket, more than enough to get Daredevil (though not all his covers) but I've been barely trying in the main bracket. I'm not seeing how you'd have problem placing well in this tournament if you got a decent team. Sometimes you've to take risks, and you still have to boosts on some of the fights to not cut it too close (now I use +3 AP to 2 colors + 20% damage versus Dark Avengers, unless it's against The Hood).

I think its because you have to do a LOT of dying for it to become viable. I brought down my 230 level matches quite a bit down about 3 days ago... I also added a few more character slots with level 1s to spread the "love".

There are some missions I just accept they'd be 230 in the forseeable future and I don't bother trying to drop them. I have no problem with trying the missions at around level 100-150 since after your character's boosted stats they're around that range too. No you won't always win, but that's what the retreat button is for. Are people just fighting until the whole fight resolves? Even on villian fights I retreat when it looks like it's a lost cause. Not only does this lower their level, you end up taking signifcantly less damage than letting all 3 guys down, and then I fight some goons to heal back up.

I tried to die 10 times, nothing happened at all.
I think they levels scale without a limit as a hidden variable, with 230 being the effective cap it is reduced to in game. So... mine would be like in the thousands, and gl scaling them back. I'd rather die in combad than out of sheer boredom at this point. FOR SPARTA! icon_twisted.gif

I also managed a top 1 again this last sub. A bit of sad I was competing for the top with players whose top dog was a lvl 30 iron man or something, because they were fighting trivial levels and likely joined the event today or something. Oh well good for them I guess icon_lol.gif

    Got absolutely smashed this morning.
Thought I had left myself enough of a lead in main and sub. I went to lunch with about 30 minutes left in sub and noticed that I had dropped to about rank 15. Clawed back to 5, but got pushed to 6 in the final minute so that yellow Patch cover still eludes me. I'll just have to be ruthless with the new sub and go for 1 even if I don't need all the covers.

I was struggling to find points in the main, but I realised that I'm still waiting on a refresh for that. Still enough to get back into top 10. Going to have to watch this like a hawk for the last 24 hours.

In retrospect, I wish I'd sat out the sub brackets, joined late, and rubber banded to the top of the main.

Just a quick question... should i grind every mission until only one point left?
Or i must leave some point inside so it an generate over time as more ppl surpass me? I find that it does not refresh on time like i calculated which is 8 hours but some mission i did not done it just refresh over time and generate over 400 pts icon_mrgreen.gif

I just do whatever that is above 500 once a day. There is also no point pulling way ahead of the leader due to rubberbanding. Anything more is just charity.
  • Lol, I'm at 36K. And two other people less than 700 points behind me, and 1 who's about 2k behind me. 4 way battle just to get XFactor Wolvie. Been consistently at the top of my bracket from the start, will be annoyed if I don't get a top finish.

Man, they should have had a mystery progression award at 40k. Will probably break it on the way home tonight ...

what is your nickname inside if you dun mind telling me? xD
i been completing with Rimas... lol up and down non-stop... i almost grind all the sub mission and might wait tonight for the refresh
  • Was lazy and still a little peeved and didn't play much so rubberbanding let me get back to #1 with 37,000. Like you guys, if I don't get an X-Force Wolvie after all this hassle, I'm going to punch something

It seems like everyone in my bracket had the same idea as me and isn't trying as hard anymore. If I (somehow) cleared every mission, I'd be in 1st place by thousands. The final day should be interesting.

I think you relaxed a bit too much. I haven't seen you top 10 in ages.
  • I like how some players feel they are entitled to a wolverine just because they placed top 2 at a point in time.

Seems like there has been a stealth nerf to the tanking strategy. As if everything else about this event wasn't already ridiculous.

After feeding guest Storm and some 1* covers through the grinder on of the 3 villain fights in the main event, I noticed that the point value for the reward had dropped but the enemy levels remained the same.

    Exercise caution!

I fear I may have jeopardized my shot at #2, so now I'll just make sure I focus on securing a top 10 result.

Did the point value drop for that one specific mission or for everything across the board?

Don't think so...tanking still works but I did see once or twice a mission lose a point or two...very delayed point reduction for getting close to the leader of the bracket at the time? Not sure. I'm in first hoping for a top 2 now. Still have to grind the sub bracket down too. It just going to be about 3-4 hrs of grinding (well..fighting them twice) tomorrow..ugh. I have 4 in xforce green so I am just going to hope and pray that green is worth going into. **** feeling if I put in the hours and I end up deciding to just toss it lol...

    Everything across the board.
There might be a second possibility: I moved up into the "leader" point bracket. I was #1 in my main already when it happened, but I may have cross a threshold into the a high score value across all players.

Double checking now, a few things to note:
Points = 38574. I figured that there must be at least a few ahead of me in other brackets.
Most importantly though, I've slipped back to #4 since I last checked, and points for remaining missions have shot back up again.

This might require some delicate see-sawing around the top few scores.

I don't think i'm going to do 3 more full clears of the main event tomorrow: there isn't even an iso reward for doing so. I'm probably going to grind tonight to a maybe 1-1.5k point margin, and go for 1 last full clear at the end of the event.

Ah I just noticed the decreasing point values as well, interesting...

This is spot on. There really is no need to grind.
