Very well said. There's a significant subset of people, though, who will do things that aren't fun, in order to win. They should consider things like this when designing systems, but have shown on multiple occasions that they don't, for whatever reason.

One interesting thing about this event is that I won my first sub, and am about to win my second, yet I have barely broken top 200 in the main bracket. I've chosen not to grind repeatedly (something that for me is less "not fun" than offing my guys a few times). So, if their intent was to give daredevil covers to those that do, I can live with that, disappointed though I may be (Daredevil looks awesome). In the meantime, my Patch will have max covers in short order, so can't complain. There will be other chances at Daredevil.

I'm about to win my 2nd sub too, but a bit different from you, I am also first in my main (ahead about 100 points) and I haven't been grinding besides the clear missions every 8 hours twice.
  • So will the starting missions be harder and harder each new mission?

I got #1 on the first and looks like #2 on the second. If so, that's kinda lame, I wanted to ise the event to get some Daredevil and some ISO. Now I'm spending all the ISO on boosts jist to complete the level 160 starting mission

I honestly find it most interesting reading the various strategies and calculations some of you guys discuss just in this thread. Not the "I'm going to quit" entries but the ones where you seriously discuss the mechanics of the game and this event in particular.

I don't know of many puzzle games that could do that.

I will just finished rank 15 for the sub event so I obviously missed something. But keep the discussion going.
  • I'm #2 in my overall bracket and about to finish #2 in my sub bracket.

I guess someone must be there to counterbalance the guys that won their sub bracket while they're #200 in their overall bracket.

lucky you, 160? all mine are 230
  • 2nd is first loser. I got out rubberbanded this sub. Pretty fun. I've only fought 230s and no real problems. Gonna miss Spidey...

That's just the first, when I beat it, everybody's 230 lol
  • Yeah I just retreated about 8-9 times. No change in levels. Then again I'm #2 in main bracket, finished first sub #2 and finished this sub #1 by about 220 points lol
  • I might get screwed on this sub because of the refresh times however. 8 hours from now is past midnight... Might have to join a bracket immediately so that I can at least get a full refresh in.

This is completely true. Really when you think about it not many puzzle games out there completely change their scoring mechanics on a regular basis, both before and during tournaments, without even the vaguest possible explanation and rely on a handful of players on their official forum work out how to not get absolutely **** while the game seems determined to give you reasons not to play.

    Weird that.

Won both subbrackets and am first in main bracket with a 200 point lead: ive been doing 3 cycles timed such that my last cycle ends as the event ends. For the tanking, i think people who have maxed out cover slots and didnt level their 1*s have a huge advantage: i have a ton of level 1 1*s that i can cycle in and tank grind with: i also ended up buying 2 cover slots so that i could add a level 1 storm/yelena to tank with.

Yeah, even after my 3rd depletion, I'm topping out at #13 in my main bracket. I'm not sure I'll even be able to get the 2nd DD cover at this rate

Yeah, that's why I waited to get into an easier main. But hey, at least you'll get an easy 4* cover from PVP by the way you're dominating our bracket so far XD

It's ironic that half the puzzle in this game is figuring out how scoring works.

Finally the second sub is over. Playing this game is starting to feel more like work than fun. I did have my first win ever though against a 230 team even though it was being Moonstone, Venom and Ragnarok. The wining combination? 85 OBW, 85 2* Wolverine and a 15 level Spiderman. They were buffed from mission though so I'm not sure it counts as win. icon_rolleyes.gif I finished 3rd in my sub and currently being #9 in the main. I don't know about others, but our main is quite close. Other than #1, the rest in top 10 are less than 176 apart. Good luck to everyone.

You grinded too much i think so your scaling is well past all at 230s: at that point you need to do a ton of tanking to get it back down: remember that you need to retreat 5 times for each mission youve ever played. Im not saying itll be easy, but i think the extra 7k iso saved from boosting and easy bracket wins for every subbracket from here on out is well worth it.
  • Won 1st sub. Won 2nd sub
Best strategy heal up your guys without health packs.
If you're patch dies retreat and heal up without packs.

You can A) beat 100+Maggia with free patch + loki or modern storm. You could B) lose to 100+ maggia with your best group. So don't risk it.
230 DA are a cap shoot of luck.
I kill rag first or ares.
  • Another question, I haven't done any refreshes yet, just playing 2 hours before subevent ends, gotten 2nd and 1st and am 9th in the main. Are the points for getting refreshes really that much more than just waiting towards the end ???

Ok TheLadder, I'm sitting behind you with a couple of stacks unfinished. You owe me 1000 ISO. icon_lol.gif

    Yeah... icon_e_biggrin.gif

I've not quite got it down how to grind these stacks I think. Leaving too many points on the table. I suspected you had something in hand... appreciate the generosity icon_e_smile.gif
  • Won my 2nd sub in a row. But now I think I'm done. It's just too expensive to burn through all the boosts and I'm not feeling like retreating a hundred times to artificially lower my rating. During work week I guess I have anyways no chance of keeping up.

I like the variable difficulty but the execution is lacking. It should reset between the subsets, to have at least some breathing room between the 230 battles.
  • Urgh, knocked to 6th just before the sub ended, and didn't have any health packs to heal my team to go back in and go for top 5 again. I just don't have the roster to be able to take out several groups of level 230 opponents. This definitely the least enjoyable PvE event so far. I like a challenge at the end of each round, but not every match in it.
  • No rewards yet...
