The last set of 2 subs, I think I missed out on 2 refreshes and grindtime. Was in Ben Grimm's bracket, after those subs ended, I fell to 12th with 67656, John Wayne74 was 11th with 67670 and Zixb0t was 10th with 70808. Those were the scores before Thunderbolts Mountain started.

I was able to jump 4 spots to finish 8th, right under Ben Grimm. 101980 was my score, knocked bender6909 down to 9th (from 8th) with 101964, Zero_X77 dropped to 10th (from 9th) with 101029. John Wayne74 stayed in 11th place, finishing with 100526 and Zixb0t dropped 2 spots to 12th with 99669. Really sweated it out because there was a lot of activity between the 8th and 12th spots.

Really glad it worked out for me, but I feel bad for 11th who was duking it out with me in the last couple hours. I was Top 10 in the main the whole event, until I missed those refreshes and grindtime in those subs. Really glad I had enough of a buffer, to not fall too far, and not be able to overcome the lead that the others built up.

When did you start your bracket? Mine was about 24 hours in when I joined; still the first sub, but close to the end.
I only gave a 90 minute head start. Was hoping that'd be enough to avoid the grinders who join ASAP. It wasn't.

I think if you missed 3 clears at the start of the first sub, that'd account for around 15k of the difference.

My bracket is similar. With just the final push to go I'm in a two man race for top two with about 130k, 10th is 117k. I should be able to coast in for a win, but the rest of the top 10 is going to be a shootout.
Luckily I don't need the Fury cover. Can't imagine what it took for someone to grind the Torch/Sniper nodes down to 1, but it gave my bracket leader a 6k lead over everyone else.

Yeah, it was a tight tussle for 10th spot. I had a WoW raid that finished 2hrs before then end of the event so I was out of action for a bit more than 3hrs. I had around a 3k buffer on you guys (in 8th position) before I went to my raid and was definitely worried when I came back in 11th spot. I had a little gas left in the tank when you pipped me right at the end (1 health pack plus my A-team was usable) but with 10mins to go it was clear that John Wayne had run his race early so I didn't push.
After seeing how scary quick the big rosters could clear Hell's Kitchen I was half expecting to be run down in the Thunderbolts sub and am very happy to have hung on to a top 10 placing. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I was 1 away from getting that node to 1, though I started doing that node 8 hours before the event ended to account for the possible wipeouts.

Boosting blue with GT and hoping for a quick stun?

Yeah, and of course green/black boost for X Force because Surgical Strike gets rid of Flame Jet/Flamethrowers too though it's certainly not reliable to get that on time. Probably used 5 health packs on just that node but that's why I started working on that node 8 hours before the sub ended. Worked out pretty well since after a complete wipeout I get to go do something else instead!
  • Hello everyone, new player to the game and new member to the board.

This was my first event, and I ended up placing 1st overall in my bracket (playing only in Washington and Thunderbolts Mountain) and figured I would share the story of I lucked out, both in terms of draws and timing.

So, I started playing the game just under a week ago, and jumped right in without really reading anything and was figuring things out as I went. I tend to beat the story mode in games before getting into the other modes, so I was focusing on completing the base game and leveling up my 1 star characters. The curve to do that is decent, but you can only do so much a day, so I started expanding into some of the other "events".

I assumed Deadpool's daily had always been part of the game, but apparently not lol. Anyway, here is where the luck begins:

While trying to get as much iso as possible to level my 1 stars, I happened to catch Daken 2 star in some achievement/pack. When I started the prodigal Sun event I didnt realize that the Daken was my Daken boosted, and assumed it was just a "join forces" override. But, because I am(was) so iso starved, I green check marked every node in the Washington event and basically couldnt do anything in Hell's Kitchen.

While Green Check marking Washington, I managed to luck into Ares dropping from one of the pack. Throughout this process I spend all my iso on working Juggernaut towards max, and using him for his board clear (to counter timers) and his burst damage (to finish off the tougher characters).

When I wake up the next day, I had finished 2nd overall in Washington (couldnt do the essentials), and one two Prodigal Sun packs
The first pack, I get the Hood, and in the second pack, 4-star Wolverine icon_e_biggrin.gificon_e_biggrin.gif

With just thunderbolt mountain left, I also happen to have to work about a 24 hour shift (project manager for a software company), and so through out the day playing during compile times, running Daken, Hood, Juggernaut, subbing in Ares for Juggs when needed, I green check mark Thunderbolt mountain and finish in 1st place for the whole Prodigal Sun bracket.

Obviously it was extreme luck to catch all the boosted characters for the event, and fortunate to be able to grind endlessly while doing other work, but it sure feels great to have leaped frog over the steep curve of transitioning to the higher tier characters.

Sorry for taking that purple Fury I didn't need from others in my bracket *sigh*
I didn't feel safe until 30 minutes left, and I also had to rack up points for the alliance to carry some people.

Believe me, I would have loved to stop earlier.

    Hey, congratulations for your finish!

But trust me, you haven't leapfrogged anything. Your transition has only just begun.

First, congrats on the hard work and good luck with draws.

Now for the bad news. When you first begin, they bracket all the new players together. After a few events like this, you will be promoted to the veteran brackets and it will get very challenging. You still need to focus on your 2stars - it takes about 8-11 covers to have a useful 3 or 4 star character.

The good news - you are here. Lots of good information on the forums that 90% of the playerbase does not take advantage of.

Congrats again on the Prodigal Sun event and good luck in progressing forward.
  • thanks guys, and yes, obviously I am not meaning that suddenly I can jsut do anything, also I know the bracket was of lower ranked players.

But the acceleration of leveraging that luck was what I was referring to. The three covers iron fist, 4-5K iso, etc, makes a big difference to a brand new account. Being able to max out the rewards from several events, when I started with essentially 1 stars, is a big leap forward in resources and depth, which can then continue to push the accelerated curve. Before the lucky pack hits, I couldnt play the essential nodes, and could barely even compete in hell's kitchen against goons.

Moving from that, to pulling 30K out of thunderbolt and green checking the whole thing, is a big jump from one day to the next.

Praise Jebus that's over. I swear I'm just going for top 150 in the next event. Top 50 ain't no top 10, but it's still quite a bit of work.

Love that Exquisite Technique power, though. Almost all feels worth it icon_e_wink.gif

watch the next event be 4 star icon_e_smile.gif

really though i was rank 37th after day one and all of a sudden i was like this grind is not worth it. Played half butt though the rest of the tour

    37
    45
    75 (stopped playing big time)
    86
    93 end

Shows that many did not really play the event that much cause the last 3 days i just did the ess nodes like 2 or 3 times. THe final day i just did the ess nodes twice and still only fell 7 slots lol

I dunno. This is the hardest I've hard to work for top 150 in a good while - I did practically miss a day, though.

    LOL

Man, I've never once tried for a 4* release. I leave that to the proper hardcore grind freaks icon_mrgreen.gif

The next new character WILL be star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.png , we've 2-3 events if their release pattern remains consistent

Anyone have a general idea of how many points in the last clear/grind are reasonably available to score? I'm around 15k points clear of my desired placing and wondering when to let up on the gas.

If someone heads to the last clear at full values, they can get 3.5 times the base value of the clear (1 + 5/6 + 4/6 + 3/6 + 2/6 + 1/6). When I was in a fight for top2, I cleared about 3.4 times, while my 2 competitors cleared about 3.1 times. Top10 should not be as fierce and the scaling here should remove some of those clears too (My example was Meet Rocket and Groot).
