Just did the Final Choice node. OHKOing a level 238 Lazy Thor with Magnetised Projectiles + Intimidation + Twin Pistols feels good, man. icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • At about 96k, 3rd place, around 10-11k above 10th place with about 12 hours left. I've ground the 5 easiest nodes, the main map node, and the easier essential all down to 1, most of the rest are at about the 12 hour point, #1 in the sub bracket, and I think I'm done for the night. I'll hit a few nodes in the morning, but I think I'm in good shape to keep top ten. Probably won't be able to grind much in the morning, but if I can hit say the four lowest remaining ones a couple times each in the morning, I think I"ll be able to secure me spot.

Putting off the PVP until tomorrow. Won't be killing myself on it anyway, considering how little it matters.
  • Any one in my slice 1 bracket, I do not need purple Fury, so I will be slacking off and falling out of the top 2 (in last sub at the latest if not earlier). So, you can just pretend I'm not there because I will not be at the end.

I'm done. I'll do what I need to stay in t10 towards the end. Y'all have fun fighting for t2.

if you mean last sub, one clear means about 7000, so if ppl grind they should be able to get approximately 21000 points.

Glad to hear it, I've got about a 25k lead on tenth.

Completing all non-essential nodes should open up 1 new non-repeatable node in the last Sub that when completed will open 1 last new non-repeatable node. That last node gives out Sentry Red.
  • Tried all 3 nodes on Thunderbolts mountain, wiped on all of them. I don't think I've ever felt worse about myself. I've spend all this time grinding and I'm going to lose it all on the final sub. icon_e_sad.gif

Having a tough time with this one. There are a couple of guys who could use the fury that could finish in 2nd place (assuming mikeng or I don't push too much). I don't really want to pass them so I've been slacking off, but they haven't really broken away from the pack so 2nd-10th is only an 8k point gap.

I don't want to drop out of the top ten or have to stay up to play near the end, but if I play the nodes down now I'm concerned I'll reach a score they can't hit.

Thunderbolt Mountains had a rather weird structure where the easy nodes are locked behind the hard ones. If I recall the path going up and the path going down leads to easy nodes that are worth quite a few points, while the left path leads to more hard nodes. You should try to boost to beat the path going up/down so at least you're not locked out of the easy nodes. The left path is hard and might not be worth trying if you can't beat it.

My luck turned around a bit, and yes, you're correct. The easier nodes on the side paths are hidden behind hard ones. Thanks for letting me know.

Its more like 6360. Since I am currently 30+K above 10th I can ignore this sub from here on out. Might score a few points if I am not far from top 50 sub score for 50HP but other than that done. Not sure if the people behind me will get 2nd though since as Beee and Bonfire will probably not stop going.
  • I did Final Choice with Loki/Hulk/Fury and it was level 321, and I totally forgot that Hulk isn't going to tank anything against guys that high and he went down to a single Adamantium Slash, but Fury managed to use Avengers Assemble 3 times and somehow turn the game around. Was pretty ironic when you consider the fight was supposed to be against the Avengers and I needed every one of them to show up for Avenger's Assemble to do enough damage to win. Only got Anger to trigger twice the whole game because Wolverine keeps skipping Feral Claws.
  • I want to know who is the genius who designed Thunderboly Mountain. I assume it went something like this:

Dev A: Hey, the previous subs all had a few trivial nodes. We should add some to this sub as well.
Dev B: Oh right. Well, I've already put some lvl 180 nodes at the beginning of the three paths. I'll just put the trivial nodes behind this lvl 180 Wolverine wall.
    Dev A: Sounds good.

I did beat the wall, but the difficulty progression in this sub is moronic.

Go into the options menu, click the little button that says "Credits" and pick a random target. Focusing on any under the heading "Quality Assurance" or "Designer" would be equally valid. icon_razz.gif
  • Ended up with #7 at about 104k. Glad to have all three covers and a week or so that I can take PVE relatively easy. I'd put Prodigal Sun over any Heroic or Unstable ISO, but that's about it. The scaling was pretty miserable at this one, and mine was at "only" about 250 or so.

I really wish they'd try awarding covers through progression again, and this time in a "clean" one, not a heroic. The thing that makes these miserable is the grind, which is only because they're competitive for some reason. If they'd take away the competitive angle, people would enjoy these a lot more, because you wouldn't have the grinding at the end for 20 iso a pop just trying to keep pace.

I also wish they would switch back to top 20 for all three covers, not top 10. That change is part of why these have gotten so awful.

Damn... 10th was at 85k for you with 12h to go, and in mine, 10th is 114k with 14h to go. I believe I will bid adieu to S4 at the end of this event.

When did you start your bracket? Mine was about 24 hours in when I joined; still the first sub, but close to the end.

My bracket is similar. With just the final push to go I'm in a two man race for top two with about 130k, 10th is 117k. I should be able to coast in for a win, but the rest of the top 10 is going to be a shootout.

For those in the most recently opened vet bracket of slice 5... I'm only shooting for top 10. Will relax on pushing it when I feel safe from #10, so purple Fury will be up for grabs.

The time spent during just one single day of PvE so far reminds me why I've retired from a PvE alliance. What a slog.
