Ok, for all those in non-slice 1 brackets, the repeatable main node stays open after the 1st sub. I couldn't remember and ground it down once or twice just in case but it stayed open.

FYI, since I'm guessing most of us will be in a dog fight for these covers.

Is the second sub 24 hours?

For the Goon nodes I have been running X-Force, Classic Magneto and OBW.

I boost Green/Black for most and for the last two I sometimes add Purple(really Pink and we all know it)/Blue.

Once this combo gets rolling, there is no stopping it and I usually take no damage. When I am going to eat one, I let X-Force take it. Then I drop his regen countdown tile and he is back to full before the battle finishes.

As a point of note, my X-Force is 4/2/4 and Level 140 and CMags is 5/1/5 and 120. And it still works like a charm. Not one wipe or near wipe in 3 clears.

Community scaling for this even it completely out of control

I always is. Wait until you see the levels in Hell's kitchen.

Anyhow for people interested in how hard the top progression reward is I am going to make it on the second clear of the second sub. So you can easier do it if you join with two subs to go.

I haven't joined yet so I wanna ask : is it a typo or the 3* cover rewards are now really given to Top 200?

Most likely it is a typo, otherwise those in 151-200 get double rewards (I can't confirm as of yet, but when I looked at the rewards ingame I recall it to be up to top 150.)

    It's top 150. I just looked. 151-200 is 2* marvel.
  • Seems like everyone in the upper quarter of my bracket is grinding this like we're in the 3 hour refresh days. What the heck, dudes?

Pay them no mind but make sure you can do the end of sub grind. These 24 hour subs make catching up harder to the sprinters if you can't do it. But the points are there to overtake them by the end but need to grind down at least twice per node.

That all depends on my kids. Haha!
  • Simonez, I joined early to avoid you this time. I see how that panned out for me. lol

Well, I was doing good until my phone decided to rapidly lose charge even when on the charger. it died on the most important part of the end grind, considering I was going lowest to highest and 6 tapping each node as I went. So many points left on the table. Gah. So disappointed. I'll probably be right out of this whole event if it doesn't take a charge overnight. :/ bleh

You really were doing those goon nodes six times? Hats off, I almost fell asleep doing 3 passes and decided I don't want to do this for < 100 points.

Hovering within striking distance to t10 but don't intend to grind this, so t50 it is, unless I can make t10 without disrupting my life. Which probably won't be possible.

Second sub is immensely more enjoyable, simply due to the fact that there are no nodes with 20K+ goons that take half an hour to kill.
  • One good side effect of the community scaling is that it's so high you wouldn't have to worry about any personal scaling clearing magic because it's hard to imagine things get any worse.

Most likely people without X-Force and with a weak roster like me. I have no hope in hell of grinding the nodes in the second sub down to zero at the end, so it's more advantageous for me to hit the nodes every time my health packs have refreshed.

I need about 4-5 health packs for a clear of the second sub.

Stealth X-Force whine: This character is plain out of whack. I really wish I had him so I could grind nodes like the rest of you.
  • How does rubberbanding work these days? In the pve that introduced Cyclops I entered 2 hours before the end and still managed to get a top 10. This time, I am not sure I'll do the same and it's the first time I am following the rate at which slices are filling up. I have to admit it is unexpectedly slow for a game that has several thousands of players. I'll probably join 2-3 days before the end to avoid the crazy scaling issues. Is it impossible to catch up to people in the same bracket that were able to get points from a previous sub?

BTW, I read a couple of days ago a comment from a mod (or was a dev) that the order of covers is determined at random. Does it strike anyone else as suspicious that IF's most useful (also broken) cover is the hardest to get? It could be a coincidence (it is after all a 1/3 chance), but if that is the case, they must use the same sentient RNG AI who opens my tokens. I know for certain it hates my guts.

Yes, it's impossible. There is no global rubberband, it's based off the sub leader now (except for Heroics without subs, but those are outliers anyway, and we hate them).

If you don't luck into a fresh bracket, you have no hope for a decent (better than T150) finish if you get sharded into an old bracket.

I didn't think it was that bad. Until the phone straight up died on me, I'd thought I should slow it down a little when I had an hour and a half to grind down all the goon nodes. Lcap/im40/mn.mags were making short work of them. Once you get a red frisbee returning every turn, those hit points melt right away. Whatever combo simonez (ryesteve) was using put my speed to shame though. I started doodling around with the easier nodes about 3 hrs out to make sure I got the essentials done in case I ran into healthpack issues... From the moment I noticed Ryesteve in the bracket list till the moment he was firmly in 1st place was only the time it took me to clear 2-3 nodes. Shot right past me like a rocket.

With the small windfall of 2 black xf covers a couple events ago, the focus will be to save hp to get him finished. It won't help me much on the TGT front who sits at one cover, but even just playing around with a 3/3/4 XF I can see how fast he is. Thugs and muscle got ya down? Surgical strike is your handy dandy problem solving power! Simply remove every yellow from the board, and presto, danger factor drastically reduced! </infomercial>

Yeah...I was going to play this one pretty optimally. Then I saw you two at the top (again) and said f**k it. I did enough to top 50 the sub and went to bed.
