I wasn't expecting to say this, but I actually miss having Moonstone boosted for this event. Her red could be pretty brutal boosted and there really aren't too many non-OBW purple options in 2-star land (I don't recall any specific nodes from previous runs of this event, but I am assuming we'll be fighting Black Widow sooner or later).

On the topic of the dark avengers, was Bullseye always an opponent in the essentials for this event? I couldn't recall, but had just assumed that I wouldn't be fighting any of the usual suspects in this event, yet there he is for both essentials here. Ah well, I guess they couldn't have you night fight Bullseye for two straight events...

Bullseye has always been an opponent in the essentials. The original story is about how Daken basically fighting everyone on both sides because that's what he does. I think they may have removed the story element for some of the essentials because Daken is no longer the essential character but the fight themselves haven't changed so it may seem pretty odd.

That makes a lot more sense. Thanks.

Does anyone remember do the essentials change with subs in prodigal sun or will all subs essential be hood?
  • Might miss the first sub. Is there any nodes in the first sub that give one time rewards like token or HP? What's the sub placement rewards look like?

Based upon the last time through, Hood will likely be the only essential for this event.
  • I'm thinking I probably won't do too much with this event. I would love to get some Iron Fist covers, but I'm not a very big fan of the Prodigal Sun event.
  • So last time this event ran, it was 7.5 days with 5 36 hour subs.

At 5.5 days this time, it seems reasonable to expect subs of 36/24/24/24/24, which means everything will end on your selected end time. This feels like a big step forward

Why is the scaling *always* so high in this event?
Normally you can progress from a bunch of level 50 characters up to, maybe, level 150 or so for the end nodes.
But for this to *start* with level 135 characters is just batty nuggets.

There aren't any one-time nodes in the first sub. Sub rewards are 2 tokens, 1k ISO, and 100 HP for 10-2, 1 token 1K ISO and 100 HP for 3-10, 50 HP for up to 50, and event token down to 300, Heroic Token to 400, and standard tokens after that.

Anyone remember if the opening node in the main is open after the end of the first sub? They've been inconsistent with that lately and it looks like every point is going to matter in this one.

So I wanted to figure out if I needed to grind it like a sub node in the morning.

Based on the last time this event ran - no.

I know I should be grinding the node in the main, but grinding it takes so long that I have just given up on it. It doesn't help that the loaners given all hit as hard as limp noodles.
  • It's completely inefficient, but there's something fun about using Moonstone's black to hijack countdown tiles from these super-levelled Muscles. As someone mentioned upthread, I miss having her buffed for this event. Her, Daken, and Ares are a pretty fun theme team with buffs.

Grinding is my kryptonite. There's people that talk about missing refreshes or grinding nodes to zero....like, I've only ground a subevent to zero ONCE.

Timeslices don't help that much when i pick one that ends at 9 pm my time but starts around noon (when i'm at the office and can't play). People just getting a headstart now instead of overtaking in the end.

Playing this has reminded me why I usually just coast for a top 150 finish in PS. Shame they had to release a powerful 3* with it, so I actually have to grind a little for top 150 this time. These goon nodes are so random, I either win with 0 hp damage or get wiped.

    EDIT:
I've been using Blade (5/2/4), Falcon (4/4/2) and 2* Daken (3/5/5) all at level 94(before boost). Does the 5th Falcon Blue cover/5th Blade Green cover make much of a difference reliability wise? I can still tank one or two of these goon hits at level 190, but I'm sure for the final clear they'll all be level 250ish.

Ok, for all those in non-slice 1 brackets, the repeatable main node stays open after the 1st sub. I couldn't remember and ground it down once or twice just in case but it stayed open.

FYI, since I'm guessing most of us will be in a dog fight for these covers.

    Thanks for the correction.
I thought I was careful enough scanning through the December thread when this last ran but obviously not icon_redface.gif

No worries, even during the last event, some were always open and some were only open during their associated sub. They've been playing with it and I think we all didn't really know regardless of how the last PS event went.

It's usually my PSA for these events because it changes without notice. icon_e_smile.gif

I've using Blade (5/3/2), OBW (3/5/5) & 2* Daken (4/4/5) at lvl 75 before boost and am pretty much in the same boat.
Before the nodes scaled up to Hard, Daken could take 2 shots reliably and I could delay the countdowns enough for him to heal which typically allowed me to get at least 1 to maybe 2 Nightstalkers going to feed blue to OBW & Daken.

I think the 5th cover for Falcon would help somewhat as which countdown tile it takes out is random but Redwing's return is shortened by 1 turn.
For Blade the strike tiles come out slightly faster (2 per 10 red instead of 11) so your potential damage output quickly increases.

The goon nodes, IMO, rely more on the tiles given by the RNG than one's skill.
