The joys of choosing a later slice... the non-scaled fights for progression points are given to the first couple slices, then people cry about it on here because they don't want competition for placement... then they jack scaling way up (knee jerk over compensating) and those of us who only want progression cry about it because we can't progress to get the progression.
If you're going to give one slice a break for a few hours with easy runs, give every slice the first couple of hours without scaling, then SCALE it, that means a range of difficulty that SLOWLY escalates.
Just went through my first run on Normal simulator and got wiped a couple of times before I even got to the essentials. No health packs to even try the Hard one. Can you hit 110K if it's only going to get worse from here? Can you hit 110K if you skip this 2.5 day long ****-fest?
We had a beautiful event just end, everyone is on a high about how great and refreshing it was, and then we get dumped back into a **** old event with the same old scaling issues, and I'm wondering if MPQ is bi-polar.0 -
Ah well, looks like someone came into the office, noticed that scaling hadn't been turned on, then decided to put it up to 11.
We should cut them some slack though. It is the first time it's ever happened.0 -
Why is it so much to ask that they get an event right right away? It's not like this is a brand new game or anything - it's been over a freaking year, yet just about EVERY single G.D. event is screwed up in some way.....
On a related note - why does Hard have to equal near unplayable WITHIN THE FIRST 12 HOURS?!?
I'm one of the crazies that grinds events every refresh because I play for the collection aspect as well as the puzzle.....so it's a little disheartening when I see this.....I mean really...a level 200+ Gorgon??? So I'm assuming I have a 300+ Gorgon in my near future....that hardly seems simply "Hard".........
Stop making the players hate playing the game. It seems so simple, yet here we are.....but who's to blame really, the devs for just not "getting it", or us players for continuing to support them...essentially bending over and taking it.....0 -
Okay I give up....3*Mag level 150~ and Powered up nerfed sentry(died before I was able to get his powers off, lol).......I want progression patch, hopefully I can earn it WITHOUT hard sim because it's too hard. I don't understand hard sim...can anyone actually do it?
*grumble*0 -
I wish at this point that they'd just accept scaling in general as a failed experiment and go back to where things were: a variety of nodes that go from 10 to 395, spread out approximately evenly over each event, that people can grind to the best of their ability, but where points are such that someone hitting 7 of them consistently will beat someone hitting all of them irregularly. I remember a year ago seeing the top nodes and thinking "I'm not there yet, but I will be;" now I see them and think "don't level up my 4*s or they'll get worse."0
-
Joy.
Over 40h to go and my hard nodes are all over lvl200.
I actually wiped on the first node a couple times.0 -
why even put an event like this out.just makes people want to quit0

Is there a reason you can't use your opponent's characters in the Simulator? Isn't this supposed to be like a Danger Room-esque fight where you're basically fighting holograms? Fighting a 250+ Hood + Ares is basically impossible unless you fall into a bunch of 4 and 5 matches off the bat. Didn't you learn in PvP that the only way to counter Hood is to basically bring your own? Wiped once no boost, wiped a second time with all boosts and got it the third time with a lucky board. Never doing that node again.
Scaling is probably only going to get worse but other than the Hood node I don't think that any of the others are that bad. The ISO jackpot ones are all goon only so that's nice seeing as those scale the hardest and the goon mixed nodes aren't feeding champions AP as far as I can remember. F the 2.5hr refresh going into New Years though.0 -
I little late to chime in, but, essentially, this event for myself goes 1 of 2 ways:
1) Patch rotates to Mystique, and I attempt to snipe for Thoress at the end with Senty essentials.
2) Patch rotates to Sentry, and I ride the rubberband to top prog, then sit out the final event cycle as Mystique essentials lock me out of anything meaningful at the homestretch.
Either way, fun times!0 -
I was hyped to get the new character, but after one clear, I feel tired of this event already. When everyone was complaining about 36 hour subs, did anyone interpret that to mean "give us 60 hour subs!"
And I asked this two events ago, and I'll ask it again now. Devs, how do you want us to play? If we have to grind to place well, and the overscaled characters beat the **** out of us, what exactly are you looking to have happen? If you just go ahead say "we expect you to spend hp on rainbow boosts and health packs if you want a top rank", I'll stop asking.0 -
Anybody else notice a node refresh timer extending before you even get to it? Just happened on Normal Sim 9 node for me? Maybe I am remembering incorrectly, but I go through these with a certain pattern and fairly certain I had not got to it yet. Hope not, but wanted to see if anyone saw this behavior?0

Know what is as fun as playing Simulator right now? Asking everyone I work with to kick me in the balls.
Honestly this is the only game Ive ever played that continuously punishes its players for THEIR screw ups0 -
Looks like they tweaked scaling. My Normal Mode now goes from Trivial to Normal. Haven't looked at Hard yet, since I've yet to beat the 2nd Node on it and not too eager to try it until I got through my pass on Normal.
EDIT: After Normal Sim 7 beat me down and LDaken, Loki and BP took turns kicking me, I have no health packs to even try Hard Sim 02. I was able to beat the 3 Essentials 2 hours ago... those may be the only nodes I get to do in Hard unless they've scaled up too. I'll see in an hour when I get 2 health packs refreshed so I can resurrect some of my team.
And I'm not just using 3 guys, I've got bruised and battered guys all over my roster trying different guys out... My roster looks like an ER...0 -
hard is scaling through the roof and there is FIFTY hours to go. what the serious hell is going on? this is like final gauntlet and the event is less than 12 hours old. how high is it going to go?0
-
Was I playing a different game when doing the 3 essentials in Hard was enough to easily keep pace for top 10?
The scaling on Simulator Basic has always been pretty nuts, but that also means you don't have to do as much because no one else is doing a full clear either, often because they don't have a choice. Maybe they shouldn't randomly vary the scaling so much but I think Simulator is quite good because it is precisely hard enough so that nobody can beat everything so you only have to be a bit better than everyone else instead of having to outgrind everyone else.0 -

Simulator Hard is basically like the last bracket of Gauntlet. It's not meant to be done repeatedly.0 -

It works out great that way for rank, but it sucks for such a high cost progression reward. I may stay in the top 150, but I don't know if all 150 will make it to 110K to get Yellow Patch.0 -

I got about 5000 points after one clear of everything. The last event the points model went 1/1.5/2X so let's use this model. The highest progression is 110K. If there are no rubberband whatsoever, then you'd have to clear (110K)/(5K * 1+1.5+2) = 6 cycles per sub. Now that's actually pretty hard for the average guy, but should be quite easy for the strongest players, so this means you will have rubberband (because top players can exceed this threshold). Historically the normal bracket tends to quickly double in value due to the significant rubberband compared to hard which makes them equal, so going back...
6 clears of normal + 6 clears of hard at base point = 18 clears of normal at base points.
But since normal is likely to double in points, this means you only need 9 total clears of normal or hard in one sub (60 hours). This is not a trivial amount since even normal gets pretty hard, but is certainly within range. It doesn't give you much room to slack, though.0 -

I'm sorry? I thought we were playing a game? This sounds more like making hour estimates and scheduling work hours.
Seriously; listen to what you're suggesting. Can you honestly and with a straight face accept that this be the level of commitment necessary for the one and only decent progression reward in the set? I could live with this if we had another 3* cover further down the chain and the final Patch yellow was an extra, but as it stands for basically anyone that is not top-dog (and thus is not even capable of being in the race for Cage covers), that final cover represents the only reason to play this event to begin with.0 -
I just don't understand how half of the event is doable and the other half is "USE BOOSTS AND HEALTH PACKS EVERY 2.5H"....like we're comparing it to the gauntlet, sure - there's 2k iso up for grabs, but we only have to do the gauntlet stuff ONCE. And we only had "harder" nodes in the latter part of the event. Which is how the majority of MPQ works(starts easy, gets hard possibly, the cycle resets).0
