This update sucks. Even if we get enough Hero Points, this only rewards high level players, not newcomers or mid level. I repeat: This update sucks.
Hey, you're not someguy! Are you his Dark Avenger imposter?

Especially if you can still be attacked, this will reduce point loss for both shield and non-shield users.0 -
Is the feature enabled yet? Why can't I see anything even after patching it? Are there official patch notes? Will shielding break after one battle? So many questions - so little answers.0

It is perfect solution when time of tournament end is not friendly in your timezone.
+1 for devs0 -
You get 50 HP for virtually every tournament on progression award. If that 50 HP helped you held your rank at the 3 star level then it more than paid for itself.
Now of course I can imagine someone used a shield and still fell way down because everyone passed you up, but that's the risk you got to take.0 -

I was thinking the same thing. I thought we had lost one of the good ones for a second and got disappointed.0 -
Why fix a system when you can implement a P2W mechanic?
This is staggeringly stupid and I'm speaking someone who lost over 400 points in the last widow tournament.0 -
All the crying about P2W is rather misguided. Assuming the guys using the shields don't have an especially strong team (and if they do, you would never be able to attack them to begin with, shielded or not). We can assume people are going to shield after they obtained high points. if a bunch of rich guys shielded at a high point (say, 600), then people will see these 600 point teams and just keep on attack them. Yes, they won't lose any points, but you'll still gain points (at least, I assume you still can, otherwise it'd indeed be totaly P2W). Since these guys aren't retaliating you'll actually pass up their score rather easily. If they do retaliate then it's the same as not using the shield to begin with.0

You are assuming that you won't get attacked by nobody else and this I think is unreal, so it won't be so easy to pass top score. And also you will see people not only from your bracket but any bracket. But yes, If you pass top score you can shield yourself so it is doable.
And yes, If you find a guy which is shielding you can attack him with no worries about retaliation so also a nice strategy to attack such people0 -
The biggest joke though is buying a shield for the SHIELD tournament. Who exactly is going to protect their rating in that tournament?
That thing needs (and has needed) a massive overhaul.0 -
This change is not p2w, just p2sleep. Or possibly pay to live in europe. Either way, don't see it affecting me too much. Has anyone done enough double shot to say if they also fixed the point fluctuations with this patch?0

There's an implicit assumption that shielded guys have high point rating (otherwise why even shield?) Therefore they'd get attacked over you, and since they don't lose points, they'd stay as juicy high point targets to everyone until your score passed them up. Thus the more guys shielded in your bracket, the less likely you'll get attacked at all, assuming you don't have any guys who are shielding with a low rating. And if people shielded with a low rating, that really doesn't impact you at all.0 -
This is a direct copy of the CoC shield right?0

What if you reach the 1100 point plateau. Enter another battle with a Bagman team, then yield, and then slap on a shield? Is that the ultimate way to tank your MMR?
So, not only do you get to place high in that tourney, but you get to have a super low MMR for the next tournament. Plus, being a really nice guy in giving the community a pinata to beat upon.
I will wait to see the full details of the patch but yeah my biggest question is how my mmr and what scoring options will be available when climbing the ladder. I have not topped 800 in the last few tourneys and partly bc I dont have the energy to grind 8-10 matches inncessently to lose -48 pts. I am sure we will start a thread of "I am shielded beginn I ng now so hit me for free points" as a way to get to higher progression rewards0 -

Being high points isn't the only determining factor in who people attack though. They may be higher points, but you will still likely get attacked, if only because you popped up for them instead of someone else.0 -

Yeah, this could be correct. Smart people will attack shielded guys bcos no retaliation. Casuals will attack everybody.
This solution could be a way to achieve higher progression rewards. But still I think that point system should be fixed like it was few weeks ago0 -

Sure, but I'll bet the #1 factor to determine whether you get attacked or not is how many points you have all else being equal. The shielded high point guys should provide cover for you as long as your point is lower than theirs. Normally, the previous high point guys don't stay there very long and you quickly become the high point guy. With shield, the high point shielded guys will likely hold their place for a while, so it gives you some more breathing room.0 -
So, they'll attack the shielded guy, he'll be gone from his target list, and he'll attack me next?
I can see how it could slow down the point loss while making a push, but it's not going to stop it.0 -
The patch notes says, "Attacking players breaks your shield."
TO me that means, you get to a point value, use your shield, and you stay there. You can't advance without loosing your shield?0 -
