How is this possible

Yes. Obviously.
Yeah, its only one person blatantly operating outside the rules of the game...what happens others start figuring out the loophole/hack? The quantity of people exploiting whatever it is should not be the determining factor on whether the exploit is game breaking. At least Sentry/Hood was legitimate....and it got "fixed."0 -

We can't say that its an exploit yet, because we don't know the particulars of how a person can get put into this scenario in the first place.
Sure, its obviously not the intent of the designers for people to be in a situation where they can go uncontested, but if a user, through normal play, can engage in circumstances that puts them in such an aggressively advantageous scenario, its not their fault. Its not exploitative. Will it need to be fixed? Absolutely.
But dont blame the people who are in the scenario until we know for certain just what you do to reproduce the issue at hand.
If it requires hacking, or obvious manipulation, then its an exploit.... If its some weird combination of tanking, timing, and some obscure luck then its a bug.0 -
Yama82 is currently sitting above me in fresh cut unshielded with 1412 points with less than an hour to go. I haven't found him once for the whole event.
What a rip off!!0 -

It so happened that NRG521, one of the high scorers joined my alliance so today I asked him what's up with the super high scores. He said in some events he gets attacked but in others he doesn't. He isn't sure what happened and that he may be benefiting from some glitch or perhaps something related to MMR. He added he does use shields, but doesn't shield hop. He joined yama82's alliance in an attempt to see how yama82 does it, but said that yama82 never chats, so he's not sure.0

Does he use a steam account? Just wondering if this is an issue with PC players as compared to tablet/phone players.0

Today I found him for the first time in PVP (last time slot). Couldn't resist to beat him
He was an easy target and using OBW, Punisher and Thoresse.
I am wondering if others can also see him now....0 -

It was a rare bug, yep. Turned out to not be specifically related to shield usage (that was our first line of inquiry too), but related to yama82 having characters on their team with invalid data. Other players' games looked at those characters' data, got scared because it didn't make sense, and threw away the pin.
We're not sure exactly where the invalid data came from - possibly a rare side effect from when the base level of 2*, 3*, and 4* characters changed a while back, and not likely to be anything malicious on the part of players who were invisible as a result - but, as of yesterday afternoon, the bad data now gets fixed up automatically by the server and these players aren't invisible anymore.
Owen (the server engineer) and I really appreciated the reports and videos in this thread. They were super helpful tracking down a sticky problem that we weren't able to reproduce in a test environment. Thanks!0 -
Oh, well that's great. Now I get to feel bad.
Yamaaaaaa! Forgive us!0 -

Will, appreciate the response, but...
This had been an issue for almost two months. It goes back to communication. A statement like this"We are aware of this issue and are looking into it. We do not believe there is any cheating going on. We believe it is a rare bug, but have been unable to isolate the source. Your reports and videos are very useful to us in tracking this down, so please continue posting."
would have gone a long way towards stowing the pitchforks that the community had out for Yama82, as well as letting us know that D3 was not condoning cheating. While silence may be golden, in a situation like this, a little communication (even to say we don't know) would have gone a long way0 -

To be fair, IceIX did post back in October that he looked into it and everything looked okay. There was quite a stretch without any word, though, so I see your point about getting an update.0 -
I like to think Yama had no idea of what's going on. Looking forward to the thread they start: "What is this tinykitty that we have to SHIELD now?! LAMMMMMEEEEE."0

Why couldn't I get hit with a bug like this?0
