You can wait. Hood-Sentry-Daken is after that. And you can't counter with your own Hood Sentry or Daken. Enjoy Daken/Loki/cMags while you can.0 -
There are repeatable nodes on the essentials.0

Repeatable for points? Every node so far except the first (with guest characters) has been repeatable for its random ISO/token rewards.0

This would be great if it were an addition, and not a replacement of a standard PvE. Instead, we have a hole in the schedule where I could've been getting a 4* and four 3*s, and instead I'm getting a 2* Storm, and whatever else gets offered in the next section. So no, I'm not going to be joining in the celebration.0 -
Looking at the roster of the guys tied for top score there's no way some of those could've possibly beaten essential 03 at 127 so I'm guessing there's personal scaling. Normally in an event the community scaling and rubberband sort of equalizes uneven initial scaling but there's no such case here, which makes the event very unfair. The fact that there doesn't appear to be anything worth fighting for doesn't make this system good. As is implemented right now it's just use Daken and use boosts and the only upside is that you probably play less overall in a span of 3 days but it's not written in blood that normal PvE events have to have 2H 24M refreshes either. For an event with equivalent total nodes to do (say, TaT back when all nodes have only 2 stacks in 12H), this is a strictly worse set of nodes because the initial scaling is arbitary and there's no opportunity for this to get adjusted.
This event is likely experimental but a gauntlet needs to be fair to all the participants and it's anything but that right now. Doom + 2 Coordinators is much harder for a higher level roster compared to a lower one because it is not possible to knock out Doom in a single move whereas lower level characters might have a chance due to scaling, and using Classic Storm to counter is not viable for a high level roster but it's a perfectly good strat when Doom is lower level.0 -
LOTS of people have been asking for true PVE without placements rewards.
They finally make it.
Other people complain that they want placement rewards.

Because people appreciate when they allow the game to become something other than the a hamster wheel where you do the exact same thing over and over and over and all events are almost exactly the same disguised pvp, and are willing to sacrifice a couple covers for it. You still get to play the pvp events going on so I'm not sure why all the pouting.0 -

Despite people's claiming of being hardcore they really want to play the game less, but they don't have the willpower to do so even when the game offers nothing useful for events. If the next PvE event has only one stack per 12H with Loki as the 3* I'm guessing most people would actually like that, but limit yourself to playing once per 12H? That'd be crazy talk. Can't afford to miss those Loki covers after all.
I don't really see what's all the hype when this is probably the worst set of nodes I've seen in a PvE event with the triple Doom essentials. The only thing they can do to top it would be 3 nodes with Devil Dino + green feeders.0 -

If playing the game is this painful just don't play the game. I played a lot less than normal on Deadpool vs MPQ and finished only #4. Usually I can do top 2 quite easily but the event doesn't interest me. I could play even less and probably still get top 10 not that the prize matters to me. If it ever gets to a point where I feel I'm compelled to play in an event I have no interest in, I'd be quitting this game instead.
I'm guessing this event uses the initial scaling factor based on your roster + past history because I know there's no way a 2* roster could possibly beat even half of the nodes I have to face, and it's not fun at all to face exceptionally difficiult enemies since I always do well in PvE for EXACTLY the same reward as anyone else.0 -
People are hyped for this because the format is good, not because the rewards are. If there's more events like this in the future they can beef up the prizes over time. If there are no more events like this in the future then I'll burn out on the game faster, regardless of how many shinies they put at the end of the ranking treadmill. So I know which one I prefer.0

You're a huge bummer. Just come to peace with the fact that not every PVE event is going to rain 3 star covers on you and once in a while other people will have fun while you aren't. Then when you're scoring 1k points at lightning rounds you can think about how people with two star rosters are getting hammered mercilessly trying to keep the handful of points they have and be glad that you're having more fun than they are, probably.
Unless you think this game should be about you having the most fun out of everyone at all times, this should be ok with you as well.0 -
Also, that Doom-Doom-Doom fight (which shall be henceforth called the Zim node)? The difference between this and a "regular" PvE is that you only have to beat it once. It's a challenge to be overcome, after which you can dance on its digital grave, rather than something you have to come back to over and over and over and keep slamming your head against, win or lose. That's a refreshing change and it makes the game more fun to play, IMO.0

I can see this event running six different other events with the buffed out characters as the prize for finishing each event. Not too bad if you need the 3*'s but I know my 2*'s are maxxed. Still should be interesting. I just hope the rewards get better. Which I think they will.0

Well, judging by the divergent opinions of a few, this is event is bad for the entrenched, super-hardcore crowd and good for everyone else, or at least fun.
Excuuuse us for making D3 take a break of 3 days in an otherwise year-long of events catered to you hardcore types. Soon enough we'll go back to Venom Heroic XVII, The Ultra-Reckoning where you'll be able to be the best there is again, or whatever.0 -

I don't see why no one seems to understand that you could've played EVERY PvE as leisurely as you're playing this one, and gotten every progression reward very easily. In other words, they are only offering you the illusion that this is something new, at the expense of people who DID want to play PvE competitively.0 -

I'm glad that you realise that you belong to a tiny minority. Please don't begrudge us, the 99.8% of the rest of people for taking three precious days of grinding from you.
In other news, not sure if anyone had realised this before but Spy's Silent Strike got a stealth animation update! Looks cooler now.0 -
I don't post much, just wanted to chime in and say this is probably my favorite event D3 has done so far (with the possible exception of Deadpool vs. MPQ) and I'd love to see more challenges in this format. I've been waiting for a different play mode and new content for quite some time.0

I don't understand the mentality of "This event is not giving me the rewards I want therefore I am being robbed and it is a terrible event"
If you aren't excited by this event, cool go do something else. If you are excited by this event, cool go enjoy. Don't try to make it about the devs personally insulting you by not giving you a shot at better rewards.0
