I'd expect a Punisher cover for finishing an "average" amount of missions (in keeping with putting the featured character at an achievable progression level in the usual competitive PvEs) and then you'd have covers for the next big 3*, whoever that's going to be, in the final sub, with the last cover only achievable on a full clear.

While I appreciate a new game mode, having only progression rewards with a 2* cover as the "best" reward is underwhelming.

I hope that the "next chapter" mentioned in the description comes with better rewards.

    This.

Someone mentioned in the General Discussion where this event was obviously crafted from, there could be 3* cover rewards down the line somewhere. If they don't keep to their 250 iso8.png , 100 iso8.png , 70 iso8.png , recruit token schema that is. Still, a 3* progression reward for full clear would have been nice.

Edit: It seems you CAN replay nodes, for rewards, they just aren't worth points. Interesting.

People shouldn't have too much expectations. Normally in a placement bracket there's about 10-15% chance you'll get a 3* cover at all. It is influenced by your roster strength but that has to be true in general because of how the prize structure is setup, so you shouldn't expect that changing to a different format suddenly allows 100% of the people to pull a 3* cover. I'm guessing new stuff open up but it'd probably be more like a generous amount of heroic tokens, which is not quite the same thing as a guaranteed 3* on average but can be better for the needy or the lucky.

Speculation is useless when the event is actually out and we'll find out very soon what the rewards are.
  • Great event, bad rewards.

I'll definitely go through it all for funzies and I think it's a step in the right direction.
  • whats the point for having the points if there is no placement reward?

unless it is purely just trying to know how well you do compare to your peers? but that is dumb since a full clear is simply a full clear. then again, maybe they do not want people to know what placement reward until the event is finish to which they will decide the % of reward to be handed out.
  • The point is to have progression rewards. Without points there would be no point to point totals. Point.

Having points means that if you can't finish all the main-path nodes, you can still work toward the progression rewards by doing the required-character "side quests."

Just a quick post to say how I'm glad that "true" pve gauntlet mode was implemented. icon_e_smile.gif

See you in 3 days for a deeper analysis of this new mode icon_e_wink.gif

PS: only one complaint, I will not have much time to play this week end, bad luck!

Ok I beat the last node (hood, sentry, daken btw icon_cry.gif ) and it opened another sub-bracket "Heroes". It has the same 3d timer and final progression reward is blue Black Panther cover. There may be more sub-brackets if you beat final node in that.

I like it. I have to wonder about New game mode: The Gauntlet, which seems to be an amazing prediction by squirrel85.

It's been fun to play so far. I'm curious what will pop up in the next chapter.

This looks more repeatable than the Heroics, which were getting stale. This is like the Simulator events, but more of a one on one challenge since we're not competing with others.

I am liking this. No worries about placements or brackets, just nodes to play and some progression rewards to hit.

And I'm also enjoying boosted Panther's and boosted Punisher's strike tiles.
  • I like this a lot.
It's obviously very simplistic in nature.

But just add a story and you have a decent PvE. Without the ridiculous competition and bracketing and sharding.
  • I haven't started it and this is already my favorite event ever.

One question... Has anyone lost yet?

Usually in a gauntlet, you go until you lose.

I got Unstoppable Crashcade'd in the Juggs/feeders node. No penalty for the loss, I just went back with a new team and smacked him around.
  • I really like this event. No need to worry about placement, just progression. One question though: if rewards are only for progression, why have player leaderboards?

I just noticed this, too and wondered the exact same thing.

    Two possibilities come to mind.

One, there's a stealth competitive element that will only appear once we reach the final sub.

Two, leaderboards and brackets are so deeply coded into the way the game works that turning them off would have required substantially delaying the event.

    I hope it's two.
