  • Well, I think they gave you Wolverine to work with Inspiration. But honestly, who works with Thor? Accelerators like The Hood and OBW, but they're not going to give you a bad guy. And they gave you the Hulk, so you can generate some green while getting Headbutted. icon_e_biggrin.gif Honestly, I enjoy the challenge of Heroics, since they limit you completely to just whatever 7 or 8 characters. The last one was much harder, with just Patch and She-Hulk and Daredevil. This time, LThor, OBW, and 2* Wolverine can pretty deal with anything. Even Falcon helps out.

Anyway, I think Heroics are a nice change of pace from the normal long episodes. Although, I'm sort of wondering when they will run Prodigal Sun or give out LDaken covers again. I think they've only done Prodigal Sun once, and they've only given out LDaken in a BoP since then...

Actually the last one was loads easier Patch + She-Hulk + cStorm...you almost never actually need a health pack since Patch tanks everything but Blue and promptly regens. Beserker Rage + either Shulks Red or Storms Blue is pretty much match.

Here Wolverine is totally useless since you'll never actually fire his Green to get Strike tiles since you're trying to get Thor's off. Hulk is somewhat helpful but unless Thor is underleveled Hulk won't be Tanking much so he won't be getting very Angry really it's pretty much just a war of attrittion with Thor.
  • It's one thing to say you don't have The Hood to go with Thor and another to not have anyone remotely useful besides Thor. The only person who can do some useful attack that aren't on Thor's color is likely OBW but OBW gets smashed way too easily since she has all of Thor's weak colors, not to mention your scaling is still based on your highest character which makes it very tough for OBW to survive for extended time. Falcon doesn't have anything interesting to do with this setup either and is pretty much limited to Redwing duty. The only person who may have something interesting to do on an off color would be Hawkeye but I wasn't going to level him up just to occasionally stun someone, and he's the same HP class as OBW so even if you leveled him up he'd still be dying really quick against enemies tuned for level 166 3*s. Hulk is basically useless because you wouldn't use any of his active abilities and he can only tank black if Thor is around. I guess I can put him there against guys with Flamethrowers/Rockets for Anger but I'm not sure if it's even worth it for an occasional Anger because I sure can't expect Hulk to take hits in any other reliable way until Thor is downed.

Now that I think about it, having Thor as the major character pretty much removed all possible synergy. If he was not around, you could use Wolverine + Falcon. Hulk would be able to actually tank, and this also keeps OBW off black so she can live longer. Well, you could just not use Thor, but Thor at level 256 is pretty much stronger than everyone else you can use put together, so it'd be silly to not use him just because he's an one-man army.

Its around 170% of base points to increase the band by one so its on the higher end of the scale as of late - Using old data as been climbing in PvP but that estimate will not be far out.

Okay was a bit out the correct number appears to be 200% and that going to be really painful to try and claw back

I find that it's easier to estimate how hard to claw back by where your ranking is after two successive cycles of clearing the same thing. Right now I've been doing the 3 essentials on a somewhat regular basis and each cycle my rank has been steadily going down. Normally that'd result in rank steadily going up, so it is indeed going to be very painful since all the nonessential missions are likely to require a lot of health packs.

Rubber banding looks really weak, I'm pulling pretty far ahead.

Pro-tip: level 129 Yelena owns the **** out of a lvl256 Thor if the board is just weak enough to never let you cast an ability before lethal recon is up again. Maybe they need to add a 3rd ability that passively gives her black + yellow while also healing her like patch.

After only managing halfway through the 3rd cycle before running out of health packs, i find that 2* Daken's Chemical reaction is overpowered. In fact i would say he's stronger than 2* Wolverine and even Ares when he's facing off against green using opponents. If there's a nerf to be done it should be 2* Daken Blue ability either in terms of AP cost or damage output or both.

Look at this event progression rewards the top one is at 20K points. It takes well under 24H to get that many points event without trying, (Fastest people should be there in 12H). They might as well just given the rewards to everyone. I project we should still reach maximum rubberband this event - It will be clearer tomorrow but its going to take between 42-46 hours - so doing just over half a dozen nodes after this time will net you enough points for all progression.

Even 12H is incredibly generous. I've done two cycles, over 4 hours, and I'm already at 15k. Currently debating just how 'vital' Colossus is, and whether I can be bothered grinding for the remaining day and a half after I wake up tomorrow (in Australia).

That is from the start assuming no rubber band. The later you start the faster it is. In under 24 hours you get the 20K by doing just the 3 essential nodes if you done nothing up until that point.

Assuming I work out all the numbers correctly then the following is true.

Doing the 3 essentials will stabilize you just under 27K points behind the global leader. Since the rubber band for non starters - like myself - is 3.46 we just passed the point where this method will not drop you back any more behind if you started now. As you already have points on the board you will continue to fall backwards behind the global leader until your "The Juggernaut" node hits 433 points. (Assuming leader is doing all nodes every refresh so this is worst case)

I will let some else post how many refreshes you need to remove the rubber band doing say half the high value nodes or all the nodes but it is a lot slower than normal.

2* player here just starting the transition, so Falcon is useless for me. The thing that has helped get me some unexpected quick wins is Speed Shot. I've been running Hawkeye (only level 72 outside of the buff) with OBW and Thor (no red covers). Every match I'm getting at least 1 speed shot off and that's been enough to help out Thor on offense. I won"t level him up to 94 at the moment, since I think he's pretty situational, but I'm pleasantly suprised.

I suppose I could be running Wolvie to get his red off, but I never levelled him up either.

You're right. I hit 20k after 9 hours of playing. I really wish the progression awards did a better job of rewarding high scoring players, same as in PvP

This feels very much like it was made with 2* players in mind who either don't have the 3*s or have them low leveled.
This never would have occurred to me, but after seeing the top 10 in my bracket filled with players with absolutely awful looking rosters, I'd say you nailed it. I also wouldn't be surprised if something different has been done to scaling this time, so that these people with 1 cover 3*'s are facing nodes where mostly everything is under level 20.

I just dont see why they cant just double the exact same reward structure. so at 40k you get another Lthor etc..

  • Closing in on the last progression award. Which I'll sell right away. Then I'll just have 20 ISO awards to look forward to until the event closes and I finish just outside of Colossus range. *sigh*

Anyone know if there's a fresh bracket? If rubberbanding is weak I don't want to jump into something that's been open for hours.

For these heroic events, joining early is largely a waste of time unfortunately. Since theres only one bracket, you can easily rubberband your way to the top on the last day, making the grind for the progression awards somewhat meaningless since you're guaranteed the award on the last day anyways.
