How to file a ticket for this awful 3* tourney?

  • Shield rating is different, it works more like hood rating than regular tourney rating. That's why nobody bothers to push it.

Yeah uh...I've never seen the points shake out that way. You definitely don't get/lose 30 points for a meer 50 point split

I'm looking at Shield training right now. My current points = 724, opponent = 793. Rating gain shows as 30. 70 point split so my initial estimate is off but still pretty close. And it's something you can try yourself. Just keep skipping opponents until you see someone close to you in points.

If I'm the only one seeing this then great! That means I've been having a hard time all along and they'll fix it and make life easier for me. I can't complain about that.

What you get != what they lose. This is what we are all trying to say to you. Normally you can trade victories with someone and both move up the ladder until around 800-900 points, then it evens out. Otherwise no one would ever get above 100 (feeder teams) without going right back down via retaliation

Well, I've always lost 25 points to someone with around the same points. The reason you trade victories is because when you lose 25 points to someone with the same points as you, the spread effectively becomes 50 points and so you gain more points when you retaliate. Usually more than 25 and less than 30. This tourney was particularly vicious because more people were going for first place. It's hard enough normally but that combined with match making limitations just highlight the weakness of the system.

Anyway, starting to beat around the bush so I'm going to stop here. Unless a dev chimes in with how the system is intended to work there's nothing further to add really. All I have to go on are my own experience and estimations. As I said, I could just have a radically different game experience due to strange luck or some random bug that is now starting to infect everyone else. It's just always been like this for me.
  • I guess you've been playing a different game then the rest of us. We would always lose 10 to 15 and gain 20 to 25, all the way up to around 800, then the system you keep trying to describe kicks in. Except in hood lightning rounds. I don't understand why you keep trying to explain it to us as though we are all mistaken, when we have been playing and winning tournaments with the same rules since day 1.
  • I'll just chime in here and mention that even at sub 200 the swing were brutal compared to most tournies i've been apart of so far and was wondering what was up. I just chalked it to being new and the guppy for the bigger fish to nom on.

I didn't say everyone else is mistaken. I am actually explaining my experience of the game in order to provide as much information as possible. When people discuss my experience, I am going to respond. I have also repeatedly stated that it's just my experience and that it's possible that something isn't working right.

If there really is a problem, the devs need to know that someone has been experiencing it from day one so I am trying to be as informative as possible. Programming bugs can be caused by seemingly innocuous things so more information will help, assuming things are not working as intended.
  • What 'isn't working right' is your understanding of how tournaments normally have behaved since launch.

I've never been hit for this many points from people around the same point range until I break like 600 or so, usually at that point range you can get in a retaliation war and still end up ahead

    This tourney was really tiresome.

Each time I passed the 400 points I got instantly attacked by multiple people, losing between 60 and 140 points.
Every single time! Not only in the last hours but every day of the tourney at any given time.

I think I crossed the 400 points line about 20 to 30 times. One time I got to 399 points without being attacked. Started another match that would've brought me over 400, won it and *bam* message pops up showing that I got attacked and lost over 90 points...

    So frustrating.

At 4:30 am (!) today I finally managed to reach about 430 or 440 points after two fast matches that gave me together over 50 points. Went to bed for half an hour. After that I looked at my status and -of course- I'd been attacked and lost 140+ points...
  • Yup. I got top 45, while in the top 5. I got hit 4 times in the last 4 minutes for a grand total of..... 118. How are you suppose to maintain your scoring when a person at 600 is hitting me for 21 points >_>
  • This is the first tourney that I have not been able to get above 350. I was getting slammed so hard I just thought they changed the way it worked. Now I see that it was like that for alot of people, so I dont feel so bad. But I was getting hit by the same person (who I had not retaliated so I just came up on their screen) two times before I was finished with a match. As in I was in a match and I'd have 2 losses 30+ points from the same person at the same score as I. This happened three times in the last hour of the tourney it was pretty rough to say the least.
  • First the ISO Hunt and now this... I have the same experience and am glad to see I am not alone.

Let me give some background - i have a pretty decent 3 star team. 115 Rag, 120+ Black Widow, 70+ IM40 so they aren't exactly a pushover.
I have also not been trying hard during the last few PVPs (including the lightning rounds). So I would just play a few rounds to get up to 100 points for the event rewards. That makes it very unlikely i am grouped in any of the higher brackets.

This was the situation with the 3* Tourney
With 2 hours left on the clock, I was No#2 with 500+ points. Then i started getting hit very bad. I was gaining 20-30 points every 1-3 minutes (That's how long it takes me to win a game) but was losing points in the hundreds. ****? It was impossible for me to gain ground, and yet the top 10 seem to remain consistent with around 400-500 points . While my points went down to 200+

Moral of the story : the game is severely flawed.. "Good team + consistent playing = No better reward than anybody else". So play less, get a life and enjoy the holidays!

  • Just to wade in I also seemed to get mauled, tournament finished in the early hours of the morning for me so I made sure to hammer it before bed, got into 19th I think it was logged in this morning and got rewards for (i believe was) a top 150th finish thought I had just had bad luck but having seen this post might not have been
  • Storm hit our city (Toronto) with an ice storm icon_neutral.gif Went without power yesterday. You guys should be thankful you got to participate at all. I've been lucky enough to have power back already, but news said other homes might not get it back till after xmas. Not sure how many Toronto brethren here, but I hope they all okay.

For reference, I have a screenshot from the 1* weekend a few weeks ago. In this screenshot I lost 194 points. But it was across over 5 opponents (too many to display) and the highest point loss was -21 to someone who only had 655 points.

Posting from my phone right now so too annoying to transcribe. But I'll post both here in the morning if desired.

And IceIX, as a software developer with over 20 years of experience, I cannot say how many times I've sworn up, down, left, and right that I didn't change anything to cause a particular bug, only to discover otherwise after looking into it. Whether it was a side effect, inadequate testing, or developer know-it-all-ness, I've made that mistake enough times to hedge my bets against myself now. icon_e_smile.gif

Sadly I think it's only a tiny % of us this bug is affecting so unless we band together we just don't have the numbers to corroborate our observations

It may sound like sour grapes to those that didnt get affected but I've never once complained coming in 3rd for magneto lightning rounds (and oh, this happened enough times for me to get gray hair) because at least I thought the tourney was run fair.

Even the punisher rubber banding thing happened to everyone equally. But today's bug...there were some of us playing a completely different tournament...

I experienced the same thing you did, it is possible it was only effecting the top tier MMR.

I thought something funny was going on. It was an extraordinary effort for me to stay above 500 points.

Edit: I've never seen point losses this big even at 1000 points. It was the first time I had fun with ragnarok in a long time. I don't think I've been so efficient at winning either. I would win 8 games and get to around 600 and suddenly lose 4 and drop 120 to 160 points.

I am lucky that I made top 15.

I´m surely faaaar away from top tier, but yersterday, few minutes after I hit 250 for the heroic token was down to 186 in two hits, 3 max. First time I see that.

Experienced the same thing this tournament. I've been playing since the beginning and have NEVER had ANY trouble getting a top spot in ANY tournament. This tournament seemed to have an excess of scrubs attacking me over and over. In my matchmaking nobody is worth more than 15 points, yet I get attacked constantly and lose 30+ points each time. I had to play three matches to make up for a single attack, and they were coming in nonstop. I couldn't even break 500 pts and ended up top 45 (what a joke!). What I don't understand is why people with under 200 points can see me in their matchmaking when I have over 400, and why can't I see anybody worth more than 15 points. Something needs to change
Yes, I had a similar problem with opponents, but I was able to eek it up to 700 points, but I couldn't find anyone worth more than say 11 points after I hit 300 points, and I was mightily surprised to see alot of familiar people in the low 100's instead of their normal 800+ rankings at the end of the tournament.
  • I echo all the same sentiments. I got to 600 2 days ago but it was a chore and immediately dropped 85 pts from two hits right after. After that I had to scratch n claw to stay in top 5. I would be 500 or so but a 400 pt team would subtract 31 t0 36 pts while I had to scramble to find anyone worth 20 pts. Yet I was overtaken by shadus for #1 and he only got hit 1 time is last 24 hrs. His score stayed the same the last 6to 8 hrs of play yet I see guys like Zathrus and spoit with 100lvl teams getting pounded. I only had a 115 rags 89 spidey n 95 im or 70 doom.
  • ICEIX,

You and your colleagues ought to be able to analyze whether or not there are the differences we are reporting. In a weekend tournament, it is usually a challenge to reach 900 to 1100 rank points. Despite my efforts I didn't reach 700. We've been asking for more realistic progression awards. The best reward at1400 when 1100 is an accomplishment made by only a few for a very short time, makes it seem out of reach. What was the highest progression award? What is normally the highest progression award?
