How to file a ticket for this awful 3* tourney?

  • IceIX, did you play the tourney? Every attack was 30+ points no matter what the opponent's points were.

Same way you'd file one for a bug. I'm not sure exactly what you'll be expecting to get out of a ticket that we aren't already reading about on the forums and such as it is, but if it makes you feel better to have one of our CS people see it there too, feel free. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1274

Thanks. I wish there could be some transparency why some people sailed with 800 points and not getting hit, whereas I got hit maybe 50 times in the last hour for -25 each. Tickets could help.

    They probably tanked their rating.

No, something changed. All previous tournaments (excepting Hood Lightning Round) they would naturally center around 700-800 points -- below that level if you got hit by an equally pointed opponent you would lose fewer points than they gained; above that point you lost the same number of points as they gained.

This tournament you lost all the points they gained, no matter what your score was.

Case in point -- I was around 550 points (I think). I had to do some stuff, come back to a lovely screen (yes, I have a screenshot available):

    -116 points
    common (381) -28
    CrookedDong (341) -33
    Kiransalee (395) -32
    mages (543) -23

All of this causes the point totals to fluctuate wildly, making the final few minutes a roulette wheel instead of an actual leaderboard. Add on to all of this the defense team bug where who is on defense isn't the same as the team that you actually played and it's just broken.
Again, we haven't changed anything for this Tournament, so whatever was going on isn't related to anything to the MMR. Thanks for the above, that's exactly the kind of info I'd like to see. I also see that some people are only being matched up against a dozen or so people total, which is not correct either. We tightened up the matchmaking algorithm a while back but it should never get *that* far into the red for people to fight unless maybe your MMR is so far above others that there simply aren't matches. And it shouldn't be possible to do that anyway.

Why? Tourney scoring was the same for everybody. It's unfortunate you were attacked a few times. It stinks...but what would you be expecting?

No, there are some people that have 800 points. I could not clear 300 with 115 rag / 105 mag / 141 spidey. Does that sound normal to you?

Sure. With this scoring system, that's like 10 attacks from 600 points originally? That's a reasonable number of people attacking. You probably beat more than 10 people on your way there. If you're stuck in an MMR bubble with a few other high level players, then the chances are even better - the levels of your team don't matter at that point. People with 800+ (and I doubt very many people were actually at 800 to finish out) likely found themselves in an easier MMR bubble, where they were unlikely to be attacked.

I'd agree that this tournament had messed up scoring that meant placing well was stupid/difficult/lucky, but I don't think your case was anything special. Unfortunate, sure.

I don't think im a special kitty but theres certainly a bunch of us stuck in MMR hell right now. It wasn't a huge problem with old scoring but this tourney's hood lightning round scoring coupled with MMR hell made it a perfect storm of frustration.
  • Experienced the same thing this tournament. I've been playing since the beginning and have NEVER had ANY trouble getting a top spot in ANY tournament. This tournament seemed to have an excess of scrubs attacking me over and over. In my matchmaking nobody is worth more than 15 points, yet I get attacked constantly and lose 30+ points each time. I had to play three matches to make up for a single attack, and they were coming in nonstop. I couldn't even break 500 pts and ended up top 45 (what a joke!). What I don't understand is why people with under 200 points can see me in their matchmaking when I have over 400, and why can't I see anybody worth more than 15 points. Something needs to change

I had simliar point losses. I had a -44 when i was at 400 points, which shouldn't be possible.
  • This tournament was a joke. I got hit by two separate teams of level 15 grey window, 15 ragnarok (green only), and 15 hood on my 53 rags, 65 iron man, and 70 spider man. Two different teams of this lineup whacked me in the last 15 minutes. Just doesn't seem likely. I kept getting hit for hundreds of points (I never hit the 500 threshold in this one). Seems odd, but I will keep the conspiracy theory cap off for the time being...

Yes, I did. I ended up 76th in my bracket due to not being able to play for the last two hours. I was attacked quite a few times with losses ranging from 18-30ish. The points losses themselves are exactly what I expected to see. What *shouldn't* be happening with a player base like we have now is someone being hammered by 8 different people withing a few minutes.

Lucky you. If I didn't play in the last two hours I would probably be rank 500 given how many times I was attacked
  • With regards to seemingly losing high amounts of points to people with similar points to you, it's possible that there's some lag involved and the attackers points have gone down but isn't displayed correctly.

For example, game sees a 300 point attacker, shows you he has 300 points, he defeats you, but in the meantime 3 other people have attacked him reducing his points to 200. So it looks like you are losing 30 points to a 300 point attacker but actually it's 200.

Sort of like the current Hulk missions where it displays 20 points but you only get 10 on completion. Irritating bug and should really be looked into.

Bro, I know what hood rounds look like. This was a hood round.
  • I've never played a game that rewards people for purposely playing terribly. If it's not people tanking their rating it's people playing every 2 days in PvE and rubber banding past people that put in time. The whole system is broken and the people benefitting are the ones that put in the least effort. Guess I'm gonna have to take it down to about 10%

It has always been like this for me. Maybe I'm just unlucky but more likely you are used to playing against lesser opposition. I have always lost this amount of points in every tournament. The only ones that have reduced point loss are Ragnarok, Magneto, Loki and Dr. Doom.

The mistake with Hood rounds is that they neglected to reduce it and left it at the same level as all other tourneys. Pretty sure Ice will confirm this.

And yes, you are correct. This had the same scoring as a Hood round. But so has every other non-lightning tourney since the start. Agree with me or not, I was just offering a reasonable explanation why it seemed like you were losing more points to people who had similar point totals.

You only lose -40s when you have 800+ points. I had 400 and got hit for a -44. Please don't talk down to me like i'm stupid and don't know what i'm talking about.
  • Wishing I had tapped the screenshot button.
Was losing more than I could retaliate for in pretty much all the matches popping up towards the end of the tournament.
Also couldn't keep up the with how fast and often I started getting hit towards the last 10 minutes.
Ended up from around 530 points to ~380 from salvaging what I could from retaliations.
Pretty sure I got his by russnous around 3-5 times in a row and would lose more than I would gain from retaliating against him specifically.

That's been going on for weeks now.
  • I've never lost 30 points when I'm sitting in the 300's before (normally not until much higher do I see hits like this). Every hit this go around was in this range. I couldn't break the 500 mark (and I play a lot)

Yeah, next time I'll remember to take screenshots. But I have to say, off the top of my head, I don't recall a single hit this tourney taking less than 20

I dunno, I'm used to seeing at least a range of point loss and not just 30. It didn't matter if they were 20 points ahead of me or 200 below or inbetween. They were all -30 to me. Aside from one guy that yielded to me or the outlier last second attack for -20. The scoring was definitely abnormal for me(I think others as well apparently?).

Edit: Yeah, I definitely should have been taking screenshots.
