From some previous experiences, if you do NOT tank your rating beforehand then you can play a bit at the beginning and then just the last 15-30 minutes and end up in pretty much the same place as if you'd played constantly. If you do tank your rating, however, then you pretty much have to play constantly so you have decent matches in the end.

Appreciate the advice. I have a 5/3/4 Wolvie right now so I'll boost him up. I've been focusing on Thor/IM40 a lot lately because of The Hunt but I'm in a good enough spot now that they don't need a ton more ISO.

I'm still not sure what the best strategy is to tank. Typically I join a lightning, get to 50 points, and then quit out (since I'm too busy at work to play for the hour and a half). Will that get me tanked? Or do I need to actually be hit a ton?

sometimes i tank so hard that i still have nobody to fight at the end thats how i ended up 3rd in mags round

Play to whatever point level you want (50, 100, 250 -- note that 100 is only 3 more matches w/ 0 or 25 point opponents from 50). When you're done switch out your characters for the default villain and the two weakest / least liked characters you have. Most of us here on the board are using BagMan as one of them as a token symbol. Plus he sucks.

Attack one of your targets -- doesn't matter who. Immediately Retreat (pause button at top, click Retreat, confirm). Then select them again and Yield.

Now everyone else will see your team for easy points. Your matchmaking rating will go down, at least temporarily, and you'll be matched against easier teams in the next tournament. This effect IS temporary -- once you start playing again the servers will ramp you up reasonably quickly -- at the top end of the Lightning tournaments the tanking effect is gone by the time you're done and you're back to staring at teams with L90+ Rags. How quickly it fades for you depends on how much you play and what teams you beat.

pl realize that the retaliation scores are oddly high and so they don't try as hard. Plus, yea, I think ppl don't like hood that much and go in hoping for a rag from a diabolical if they don't feel.they have a shot at the red otherwise.

hes at 5/1/5 for the foreseeable future. I might just buy the last 2 red if i feel like bringing him to 141 and dont have the covers by then.

If you have maxed Magneto, you are not able to compete in Magneto lighning rounds. Too many people getting 75 or 50 coins and they have char covers maxed

Of course, same could be said for you as you just said you threw out 2 covers I need lol. Ban him! Ban him I say! Or all unwanted mags are siphoned to me.

2/3/1 after the mag round. Dropped out of top 25 in the last second from attacks and dropped to diabolical but drew a blue. Happy ending.

Also, I didn't realize how low hoods health was...I saw him @ about 5k in the 60s and thought I got the "characters not buffed" error again.

Only if you made it so that they could only use the L15 default char instead... that way you could at least get some ISO. I got to a bit over 100 in the Hood round before running out of computer opponents and bagging it.

I still think a good solution is to run them simultaneously. If you have a good Rags, sure you can enter the Rags tourney for your best chance at placing high, but you'd just win a cover you don't need.

hostility. i've sat out like 90% of the lightning tournaments this go around. not to mention since everyone is using tanking strat, you have to go the full 1 hour 30 minutes for the hp booby prize. i think i'll pass haha

seeing 3 ppl around 700 during a mags tournament was eye popping
